I was waiting for you to do this. My only gripes were the shoulder articulation and those shitty fingers. The transformation is so much more pleasant than Bad Cube's. X-Transbots finally made something really good, lol! Great review, as always.
I'd have to say of the 3rd party Hoists, this is by far the most toon accurate. Now if Fans Toys reveals they're making a Hoist with their Trailbreaker, or the rumored Takara one happens...then I might say otherwise.
I like Hoist with a potbelly with the waist towards the back. For some reason I think of a middle aged engineer with a potbelly with hoist just fits. lol
They are trying here, which is good to see but they are still far from being my go to company to be sure. I'm in on FT's TB despite having the BC one and will wait and see on a hoist. TT if they do one I think is gonna be too plain and too expensive given where they are right now. Great watch man, erm, thumbs up!
i want those tentacles, there are some customs that could totally use them, specially some animals to give them articulated tails dont like how it looks but not because it looks bad, is just personal preference, but this one is probably the most cartoon accurate mp 3p hoist, and has better accessories as well, if i had to choose any MP hoist, it would be this one, but those hands, yeah i would probably give him both gunhands instead
Bobby Skullface L Am i missing something in the "backpack" transformation? the towing mechanism on mine just kinda flops. didnt know if that tabbed or locked in somewhere. overall, i love the figure. i only have 3 third party figs(sphinx, quakeblast, and now paean) and he feels just as good. still think cloud 9 has put out a great figure. cant wait to see what they do next.
Bobby Skullface L oh sweet. those will be fantastic if quakeblast is any indication of what they can do. back to paean, i watched your review like 5 times already, yours had full on waist rotation, mine does not. the tailgate at the bottom of the backpack hits the side skirts. tried both forward and back on the torso position. that is weird. some reason it sits lower. not a big deal for me though. hoist isnt known for his agility. lol. thanks for the answers. love your reviews.
I know how X-Transbots reviews usually go, but I'm deeply hoping their Cliffjumper will turn out at least decent. Cliffjumper is just so often overlooked as "the red Bumblebee" even though he isn't even a volkswagon-y car and that AceAce Cliffjumper just looks awful.
It was a decent effort. It looks the most like Hoist out of the available options. Those hands though. When your signature part sucks you should...get a better signature. I sold it along, but I enjoyed it while it was with me. Leg transformation was clever.
so which version of hoist and trailbreaker do you like? i know you are particular so i am going to base what i buy on what ultimately you will buy. thanks for the excellent review
May I make a pun & say, this is such a Paean? 😜 Lol Though, since their Beachcomber, idk if I would go X-Transbots this time around, I think (knowing me) I would go with a different company with Trailbreaker & Hoist, such as MMC, MT, or someone else, at least.
Man, those KFC hands. They're the biggest issue that keeps me away from buying any XTB figures. I've bought some hand kits before and always regret it.
X-Transbots is a dirty word in my household. Fragile hands, fake it till you make it glossy plastic and the sloppy paint... Wow, that's a big no thank you from me to Xbots for this fig. I'm going to wait it out myself as well, but... if others don't make one better within the next year or so, I'll just sadly pass on having a Hoist figure. Great comparisons and he did look good next to MP Grapple, I must admit. Thanks for a fantastic review as always and I'm glad you were able to recover the thumb. Cool reference to The Count. Ha ha haaaa!
great review love your reviews. Afternoon mr. Skull face. Quick question I watched your review on Kronos and other reviews and I see that for a hundred sixty bucks he is really not worth it but what about for 80 bucks and I just want to display and have a G1 looking Skyfire or Jetfire on my shelf what do you think. Also I love the reviews man my kids think I'm crazy but I love the reviews you give unbiased straight down the middle tell it like it is review and opinion
De Ja Vu: Great review Skull Brother!!! I swear I've seen you do this exact review before. Maybe in my dreams lol. He looks good for the most part but I think I too will take the wait and see approach. And for God's sake someone give this bot a thumb um a thumbs up for a job well done...
i know your biased against x-transbots, but i want to point out the figures they make this year, springer is arguably the most g1 accurate available , same goes for their seaspray, cosmos and these 2 paean/aegis are fine, i dont care about "perfect" qc if it gets the job done, so if they up their qc game a little, even not on fanstoys, level im in
see im the opposite, and although im hyper critical with them because of the amount of just... junk ive bought from them, ive always said they nail the sculpt. now if they could just make a consistently good figure, they'd get out of their own reputation
i agree with you, just to clear things out im not saying you dont have a reason to be biased/critical about them, im just saying that theres a level of tolerance we all can show for a figure, mine for them is not that low as most people, i can live with their mistakes. Now junk? for me toyworld dino-combiner was total junk, theres not 1 positive review out there, that thing couldnt stand up on itself lol, thats just useles most x-transbots do their thing its just they dont do it that good as lets say fanstoys, at least from my experience
I like the way this looks and i like the transformation abd the colours are nice on camera but i won't buy this or any other g1 masterpiece/masterpeice style figures as those price tags aren't friendly.
To me its an indication of stability. If you pose or play around with your figure now and then you want an indication of how well its gonna stay up on your shelf, even if that pose is leaning heavily on one of the legs. If the joints are ratcheded you get a good indication of the quality for the limbs, and when they quit working you can try to either work around the problem by not putting any more stress or load on it or let the figure just stand straight or sit. If the joints instead are friction, the possibility of it crumbling from the toys own weight are higher and gravity will do its work on it WITHOUT any indications or warning to you, so if youre lucky when that happens you have glass windows hampering its fall or not too big of a distance for it to survive the drop, or positioned in a way that when it decides to take a nose dive it wont pull any other bot with it. So in conclusion, when a toy with ratcheted limbs stops working you can fix it but if the joints are friction you are pretty much screwed.
Thanks for the input, but... 1. If you aren't in the room or are too far away away to hear it how does the clicking of a ratchet make a difference if the figure hasn't noticeably moved? 2. Being smart with your shelving and posing. Common sense, no? 3. Friction joints can always be tightened with floor polish or superglue.
1. A good example of that is TFC Hercules, that combiner has a very wide A stance and we are using that combiner as an existing example because it has some weight into it. If those Ratches would be a bit sturdier on Long Haul/Heavy Labour the groin wouldnt made a touchdown after an extensive period of time of just standing still. Similar to those who are not a combiner, everything with a weight unto it will try to reach neutral, a standing toy WILL aim to be on its back to spread out the weight, same thing with a human body 2. In my case i have too many of them to have that luxury of choosing any pose or no pose for most of my bots, but if i could i would prefer to make some of them pose because it would be much more interesting to look at rather than something that could be part of the North Korean army march showoff or stickfigure styling. At the top i have MMC Feral Rex, he weights a lot and i dont touch him often, maybe 3 times a year for cleaning. In front of him i have MMC Hexatron and Cybertron Soundwave. If those joints on Leo Dux decides to take a vacation i wont be aware of it and he will fall and take all of the above mentioned figures with him, by Domino effect he will push Hexatron over the top and make him drop 6 feet down unto Toyworlds Constructor, by logic that little "accident" from Leo Dux will kill Hexatron, i dont have space enough for such big bots inside my cabinet so im forced to have those on the top or on the floor. Many collectors just have them on wall mounted shelves and if those shelves gets a bump the bots on those needs to be able to still stand even if you just bumped your head slightly against it. 3. Used to lend out some of my bots to a friend of mine for a major stop motion project and those bots given back with friction joints was in such a state that they would serve better as boggers. Those with ratchet joints could take the pounding and got back to me in a decent condition that i didnt have to replace them with new copys of the same bot. Yes, i know he wasnt the smartest human to lend stuff to but he put the bots to the test and highlighted to me most bots pros and cons by doing so. 1 good example of that is Classics Sunstreaker, when both legs, feet and arms are useless floor polish arent the first thing that comes to mind
I know I haven't commented in a while, but you got some plump fingers my man... I bet yur parents didn't have to worry about you picking your nose as a kid? lol....Great review..
@ 12:15. You could've at least wiped off the cocaine residue off the scale first... 😉
just wanna see what Bobby says about the white powder, lmao
hahahhah
you are definitely one of my favorite reviewers your videos are so entertaining.
thanks man
Thumbs up to Manolo!
absolutely
Manolo is always great to do business with.
Good job on the video. I just might be sold on this guy.
he is indeed
I would probably buy ocular max's (mmc) trailbreaker and x-transbots's hoist so there is even nore difference betweeb the two.
*between
the hands!!!! ohh KFC the HANDS!!!! WHY, It's 2017. I've had to look for kfc hand pieces before, and lemme tell you, arrrghhhh!!!
preach
I was waiting for you to do this. My only gripes were the shoulder articulation and those shitty fingers. The transformation is so much more pleasant than Bad Cube's. X-Transbots finally made something really good, lol! Great review, as always.
totally agree
It looks pretty good, but I am with you. I'm waiting to see what comes out before I make a decision on which one I like better
yep
I'd have to say of the 3rd party Hoists, this is by far the most toon accurate. Now if Fans Toys reveals they're making a Hoist with their Trailbreaker, or the rumored Takara one happens...then I might say otherwise.
im right there with you
I like Hoist with a potbelly with the waist towards the back. For some reason I think of a middle aged engineer with a potbelly with hoist just fits. lol
absolutely
There is a reissue of trailbreaker, with improve Hands, rotating shoulders and painting overall.
They are trying here, which is good to see but they are still far from being my go to company to be sure. I'm in on FT's TB despite having the BC one and will wait and see on a hoist. hahahah i hear you
manolo is an awesome guy to deal with , great review as always.
totally agree
just got this guy in the mail today. aesthetically i like him most out of all that have been released.
me too

No it should stay with tension. As for cloud 9, I'm pretty sure they're just gigapower, so they have dinobots on the way :)
Bobby Skullface L oh sweet. those will be fantastic if quakeblast is any indication of what they can do. back to paean, i watched your review like 5 times already, yours had full on waist rotation, mine does not. the tailgate at the bottom of the backpack hits the side skirts. tried both forward and back on the torso position. that is weird. some reason it sits lower. not a big deal for me though. hoist isnt known for his agility. lol. thanks for the answers. love your reviews.

im in the same boat

totally agree
Another great review Bobby!, Can't wait to see you tare into trailbreaker!! Keep up the good work
thanks man
I thought I watching Bens collectables for a moment when I heard an XTB recommendation
hahaha even a broken clock is right twice a day (XTB being the clock, before the internet misinterprets my words lol)
so which version of hoist and trailbreaker do you like? i know you are particular so i am going to base what i buy on what ultimately you will buy. thanks for the excellent review
i like this hoist the best so far, and BC TB so far, but im waiting for fanstoys offering before making a decision
Is the hammer from the upcoming wrecker verison? (Diaclone wrecker)
May I make a pun & say, this is such a Paean? 😜 Lol
Though, since their Beachcomber, idk if I would go X-Transbots this time around, I think (knowing me) I would go with a different company with Trailbreaker & Hoist, such as MMC, MT, or someone else, at least.
puns are always welcome here :)
Awesome. Lol
This looks like the robot on the episode. B.O.T.
lol
Hoist always looked kinda fugly to me. I can get behind a black beauty like Trailbreaker though.
yea me too
Man, those KFC hands. They're the biggest issue that keeps me away from buying any XTB figures. I've bought some hand kits before and always regret it.
totally agree
the solar tower!
thats right
Bobby Daintyfingers
lol

i think we sorted this on FB :)
If Hoist and Doc Oc made a baby...
lol

so many hoists and trailbreakers lol
Other Autobots in the show never cared about what Hoist opinion was...He was just a "Pion"?
lol

Bobby will you be reviewing Zeta Toys' Bruticus?
yes
Did you sneak in one of George Carlin's jokes when you made the transition to find the missing thumb?
might be coincidental, great minds think alike
Got Aegis today and you're really not wrong about the paint. It's awful! Was yours covered in fingerprints too?
i didnt notice any finger prints but the paint is laughable
Is there any way to remove the thing behind the arms
top notch review sir! 😁
many thanks

Why no side by side with bc or ox max? Do you think this is the best mp scale Hoist out yet?
i dont have them. i think this is the best available but a better one could certainly come along
Question Bobby, do you value ratchets for ratchets' sake or is your focus entirely on the weight tolerance of the joint?

I thought they did a good job, just pity on the finishing .
this is surprisingly good
The thumbs are just under the view count.
YES!
I'm surprised that you didn't have me banned from RUclips after that comment.
I know I haven't commented in a while, but you got some plump fingers my man... I bet yur parents didn't have to worry about you picking your nose as a kid? lol....Great review..
chicks dig it
Which Hoist made it into your collection?
i havent chose one yet
You could say, which hoist makes you moist?
WTF have you done to Tigertracks? What did he ever do to you ? LOL
i treat KO's like KO's ;)
i think ill wait for fans toys
me too
