Dad was para, all 5ft 3 of him. He explained that part of milling is for them to test how well you'll do if captured by enemy in a live war. And that Prince Charles (as he was then) gave and took a beating like everyone else to get his wings.
You're not allowed to defend when Milling. The exercise is not to test boxing ability but grit, determination and complete aggression. Its essentially 1 minute of throwing punches at each other, no blocking, no slipping. There's plenty of footage on RUclips, you should react to some :)
Milling is about courage, not about fighting skills, its the ability to show total aggression, be punched in the face and come back even harder. This isn't boxing its a test of fortitude and aggression more than anything else.
Land, find the enemy, force the enemy to fight close in a fight they don't want, start with a ferocity, maintain the ferocity, make the enemy regret fighting back.
You try to defend yourself while ducking diving and blocking during the milling you'll fail. They want to see pure aggression and calmness and composure after the fight. It called controlled aggression.
he said without equipment not without a parachute XD he means with out a Burgan and guns... if you jumped out without a parachute you was just slap the floor and RIP that did make me laugh though so props XD
Was so proud when my Uncle became a Para, way back in the '60's....all of my Uncles served Army, Navy and Air Force all the brothers in a different branch, swapping stories when on home leave.. only 2 are still with us now both heading into their 90's
Thank you for your families service, My brothered as a para, , i served as a medic, my wifes two brothers served, one army one navy, my wifes father served also, as did my grandfather during the war, the par's back in the war, were know as the airborne division, he dropped in holland, and fough in Arnham, like i said before in previous comment, the movie a bridge to far.
The climbing frame is real, hish scary to look at and that 6 foot gap you have to jump, and P company is the hardest part, My brother did 22 years in the para's i was at his passing out parade in aldershot england, he started in 3 para, but moved to 2 para, because they were going to northern ireland first, during his training in P company, he deloped stress fractures in his legs, they saw something in him, and allowed him to heal and re take P company, instead of a medical discharge.as i said he did 22 years and was a sergent major when he left The Paras, were not always called the para's, they were the airborne division during the second world war, my grandfather was in the airborne, he dropped and fought in Holland at Arnham, you may have seen the movie a bridge to far, he was one of the lucky ones to come home. There is alot more goes in the para training, you dont get to see, they break you down, till your crying in a corner, then build you back up, to one of the worlds elite I was fitter and stronger than my brother and 2 years older, i did not have the mental toughness needed to be a para, i served as a medic instead
I wonder if your grandfather took part in the film made just after the war, 'Theirs is the Glory'. I believe they used many of the men who took part in the film.🇬🇧
@@pauldurkee4764 No he didnt, what he was , was chair of the ex air bourne regiment for the north east england, veterans from the war that uses to meet once a month, do stuff for charity and the marches, The only real sad thing, was my grandfather died, just before my brother enlisted in the para's, My grandmother was still alive and and she went with us to see my brother pass out, What was really nice, my grandfather never talked about the war, what they did, its the british way, and to be honest we didnt ask, What was nice, there was a museum , that had a replica on the little room overlooking the bridge, my grandmother got to visit the museum, and see a small amount of what my grandfather did
My now passed away father in law was an original Para. Tough as nails. Was presented with a medal by Monty himself. U wouldn’t have picked a fight with him I can tell u. Jumping without equipment means with JUST a parachute. No pack, weapons etc.
One of the odd things about the 'Paras' is that you never really leave. I have worked on merchant vessels with ex-paras among the crew, and they are like the Waffen SS old comrades organisation. They infiltrate groups like the French Foreign Legion, and any mercenary army you can think of. They all have a recall word, and some cafe in London where they will contact their 'handler''. They were set up to land behind the German SS and give them a fright. This is still their modus operandi.
US Soldier vs UK Soldier WHO'S FITTER?! with Austen Alexander.. was great sportsmanship and great to see 2 different soldiers compete against one another and encourage each other even though we are allies but its still competition and americans defo are not the easiest to work with...but in that video we see the best of both worlds and why we are important to each other aslong with many other ways 💙
Do not take this personal. If your going to continue doing reactions you need to stop talking so much & listen The paratroop regiment is not just about jumping out of a plane. They do much much more than that. So please Watch Listen & learn, then react stop jumping in without knowing what your talking about.
@@tonybennett8834 Your so welcome & thank you for your service in what is in my opinion the toughest training period. Thats no disrespect to any other armed forces they all have a role to play. Regards Garry
You seem to be on a British military thing at the moment, something you should look at is Jeremy Clarkson s the Victoria cross, there have been only 1358 awarded to commonwealth troops since 1856 and in that time 10s of millions of troops have died, the stories of the people that have been awarded this medal are insane and the twist at the end of the video will blow your mind, he also does a video on the greatest raid it's a story you wouldn't believe if it was a movie 🤣
Slip a punch? Milling is not boxing, if you tried to use boxing techniques to avoid getting punched you would get a roasting from the training staff and made to fight again. In regards to the thumbnail photo, Paras wear the cap badge over the left eye not the right.
Clearly a false image on the video thumbnail, British paratroopers always have the badge on their berets over their left eye/left side of their head not the right side as shown in the thumbnail
"Without equipment" - not carrying packs or weapons . . . They do have a parachute.
Obviously. They might be elite but nobody can survive smashin the ground at terminal velocity lol
@@ElDubz420 MMM I expect that the SAS would give it a go just to prove they are harder than the Paras
Only the Gurkhas jump without parachutes
Why do you make comments before you listen to the full explanation?
You need to stop listening to your own voice
It's Milling not Boxing. Defence isn't even an option. It's a test of individual courage.
Dad was para, all 5ft 3 of him. He explained that part of milling is for them to test how well you'll do if captured by enemy in a live war. And that Prince Charles (as he was then) gave and took a beating like everyone else to get his wings.
thats bullshit he never did it .he only had one jump .there for he should have never got wings .Try 8.next time then you get wings

Milling isn't boxing. Dodging the blows isn't allowed
I look forward to seeing your performance on the Paras course, Strac, with or without a punched nose
They do know how to slip a punch. They just not allowed
When they fight your not allowed to dodge punches you lose points they just go at each other until the instructor says stop brutal

Who is the FITTEST? The answer is The Australian soldier !
Jesus Christ! This guy is an absolute weapon.
Those fitness requirements are for civilians, its much more harder during basic training and final tests..
Bro loves his voice too much. So much yapping and not enough listening...
