- Tips and locations of the 19 spots you should keep lubed up on your Polaris Sportsman. This video pertains to my 2019 Sportsman 850 SP but relates to many other models. Not exactly but basically.
Just got my 850 SP. Thanks for this video - super helpful, appreciate it.
Excellent!!! Congratulations on the new machine, they are a blast!! Thanks for the thanks, glad to hear people get something out of it.
Great video!
Did it for the first time yesterday. I found it much easier to access some of the zerks by removing the wheels! Still some cussing but that helped.
yeah it is easier but if you do it a couple times you get the hang of it with the wheels on, saves you some time.
The 2021 and later 850 Trail and XPs only have the outer rears and the prop. The others are automotive style sealed rubber bushings and wilk be tight long past when these plastic ones need to be replaced.
I did hear that, I think I would prefer being able to grease all my points as opposed to not. Hopefully they hold up well on the new machines.
Thank you for these videos. If you see this how Is the new clutch and belt doing.
Working well would definitely recommend.👍👍
Thanks for making this video. It was very helpful for me since I have the same model and didn't know about all of these grease fittings. I ordered a grease gun and marine grease right after watching it. Thanks again! If you have time, can you tell me how you removed the stock stickers from your machine? Thanks
Awesome glad to hear it helped someone out. The stock stickers.. My fingernail and patience, if you get it started and go slow most came off for me on one peel. A heat gun or hair dryer at low heat also helps loosen things up. Then of there is any residue left use some good gone, thenwipe the area with alcohol to clean it up. 👍
Thanks for the video man. What part of PA do you ride?
No problem, glad you got something out of it. We mostly ride at AOAA in coal township, and Lost trails in Dunmore. I would like to check out Reading trails too but haven't yet. Are you in the area?
@@RideTheEarthnow I just moved to PA last year. AOAA is my usual go to. I’ll keep an eye out for your machine.
@@thesaltycarpenter5245 nice, next trip is planned for Dec 4th
@@RideTheEarthnow unfortunately I’ll be away that weekend.
I just got a 2022 polaris sportsman trail and it doesn't have any of these
Yeah I heard the new machines don't have grease points. Kinda weird if you ask me, hope they hold up well. I know I have to grease mine a couple times a year or it is nothing.
I’m not sure the 2021 850 has as many. I only found 4 on the back. Then again I’m blind as a bat. I can’t find any on the front either.
Ha ha just check the areas where the suspension would pivot. Usually find them there. But 2021 might have changed a bit?
Yess i have a 2022 sportman 850 and there his only 4 in the back now the other ones are seal bushing
Great video I have the same model. how often should you do it
Nice, they are sweet machines. As for when you should do it. I am not really sure. Polaris might have some sort of interval but for me i do it one or 2 times a season depending on how much deep water and or riding I do. Also if you hear any squeakyness in the suspension then it is time for a lube. Hope that helps.
@@RideTheEarthnow Thanks a lot
@@macman51 you got it, make sure you hit that subscribe button ;) ha ha ha sorry for the pitch ha
What kind of grease do you use and should I do it every year?
I like to use marine grease, holds up better to the elements. As for how often? I usually do it a couple times a year. Really when you hear things starting to squeak, it is time to lube it up.
@@RideTheEarthnow I really appreciate the advice. I'm not too mechanical but I'm getting better. I just want to make sure I take good care of my new ATV.
@@derperderp9036 good to hear. You treat her well she will treat you well. 🤘🤙
@@RideTheEarthnow you're awesome 👍
What size zerk fitting??
Just the standard size? Didn't buy anything special? Sorry not much help there but I believe they are all pretty much a general size. Same for the jeep as that are on the sportsmans
@@RideTheEarthnow so I just bought a 2021 570 but can only find a zerk fitting on the prop shaft. Cant find any other zerks anywhere
Look at the suspension and at a pivot point there should be one at all the pivot points so you can keep that lubed. I haven't looked at a 2021 570 though. That seems like a weird thing to leave off.
What size are they
Sorry what size are what? The grease fittings?
@@RideTheEarthnow yes i have been trying with my grease gun and it just wont take
@@giocannicampos6816 weird. I just have a small grease gun that I bought at an auto parts store with a flexible hose. Something like this. Slippery Pete Mini Pistol Grip Grease Gun. Heavy Duty Design for 3oz Cartridges. 12 inch Flexible Hose and 5 inch Rigid Extension Pipe a.co/d/c4xpJ6p
I have a 2022 sportsman 1000xp, and there is only 2 on each of the rear hub. Absolutely none on the front
Yeah a couple people have mentioned there aren't any on the newer machines. They must have magical bushings or something. I need to grease mine a couple times a year.
if you pump untill you see grease, your seals will be gone. better off to just giver a few every once in a while
What??? Never heard of this???
Seals may still be fine, but manual does say 3 pumps max
