Hi Gareth I like your guide. However I am in slightly different position. I am leaving UK and will live in Poland and work remotely for my existing employeer. Did you ever had similar situation?
Ive been trying to fill out the P85 form, it requests an overseas address but as im travelling I have no fixed address, anybody else encountered this problem?
Thank sor very full detailed information sir, just I would like to ask will I be able to apply for visa in the future if I refund my tax under P85 form?
I am a British Citizen, have been registered as self-employed only since last April, but partly worked as an employee during first 2 months of the tax year 2022-2023 ; Have P45 from the employer . Now I have a job offer overseas ( Middle East) and am in the process of getting work visa that completes by 2nd week of new tax year 2023 -2024. Am i correct to understand that i can fill in P85 and say non-resident from 6 April 2023 , the start of the new tax year? ( but leave little later say , 15 april 2023).? How long am I allowed to spend in the UK for the new tax year being as non-resident, I don't have family or property in the UK and wont get more than 31 days annual leave anyway from my overseas employer; so i wont be returning to UK for more than 40 days in the next tax year.
I actually left UK in 2011 but this stuff seems to get more and more complicated! I still rent out a house in UK so I still have to file online tax returns but this year I've encountered an added complication with double taxation. There is a supplementary form, the HS304 claim form but I don't know who does and doesn't have to fill in that form. I asked on the HMRC forum but no reply so far. As I live overseas I have to buy commercial software to submit the tax return but I don't know how to access such supplement forms using such software.
Hi, I am planning to leave uk to my home country next march or April, can I claim all the tax paid for this whole year or only the over paid tax please.
Hello I was here last year working on a farm for 6 months got the p45 when i was leaving but did not have Nis number so was unable to file the tax refund , this year I have returned to a farm again and want to apply for refund from ast year now that I have Nis number can I file for it still
It may make sense to contact a qualified/experienced Accountant or Tax professional if you want them to look at your personal circumstances. However if you are confident and want to do it yourself, the following link should be able to assist with lodging a claim for a previous year. (You will need your previous year's P45 handy). www.gov.uk/claim-tax-refund Hope that helps!
Good afternoon, thanks for the video , is there anyone who can help me out, what if I left the uk to move back in Italy a year ago, but soon I’ll move to Australia; cause I’d like claim my taxes back , should I still claim em by filling the p85? Any help is more than welcome
Hi what if I’m leaving UK to move back to the Isle of Man but want to keep my UK home but not rent it out? Understand if I stay over on the Isle of Man over 6 months I’m taxed and classes as IOM resident but can I spend say 4 months on and off in the UK and it not affect my tax?
Sorry for the late reply. In terms of the UK and tax residency there are a few different rules/tests that can be applied, mainly around being in the UK for 183 days there are others to be aware of though. The following is a link with HMRC's guidance www.gov.uk/government/publications/rdr3-statutory-residence-test-srt/guidance-note-for-statutory-residence-test-srt-rdr3 In terms of Isle of Man, sorry I'm not familiar with their tax system/treatment given your circumstances. Hope that helped?
