Looking at getting a used 6D as my first horn (its one of my favorite instruments), would you recommend it or the 8D? I've heard the 8D is highly regarded and liked, but its also quite a bit more money and I've read its a lot harder to play
I don't think the 8D is any harder to play than the 6D, at least in my case. What is certain is the price, much more affordable for the 6D. The horn in this video is over 50 years old, has hardly had any repairs in its long history and is doing very well.
Sounds great! I'm wondering, how did you manage to switch the thumb valve so it stands in Bb?? I always thought that all Conn horns were permanently set in F; I'm really curious
I was just thinking of buying an used Conn 6D and found your vid. Amazing work!
That French horn is fantastic, and it only cost me 600 €
Amazing tone for a 6D.
Nice and clean. Congrats high skill level on it!
thank you, it is important to practice every day.

@@ferranfrenchhorn Wow, it's doing really good.
I'll likely start with the 6 then and if it's going well I'll eventually upgrade to the 8
Good idea, I hope you enjoy

This horn is over 50 years old and someone added an extra hole in the valve arm. That made it easier for me to change the tone.
Esta trompa suena más oscurita que la Hans Hoyer...
Si, efectivamente, o la Hans Hoyer más brillante, claro ;)
