[Why Yasuke?] is a really good song. They broke it down in the comments but the wordplay behind "UBI Sunshine" is fire. UBI is obviously Ubisoft, but it goes further. Split "Sunshine" into two words. "UBI-Sun" is UBI-san, addressing the company like a person. Mr. Ubisoft. Tbf Yasuke is a historical figure. However he was also the only one - a VERY odd one out. You'd have to be specifically looking for a black man in Japanese history to find him.
Well, that he is from the US is not a problem in itself. You do not need to be born in a specific region to become an expert on it. The problem with Ubisofts "experts" is that they are lying actvsts. In no original source document is he labeled Samurai, to claim the contrary is a blatant lie by those "experts".
The funniest thing was everyone was saying they want a white samurai where in reality people were saying William Adams would make more sense as he was actually a Samurai and there are multiple historical sources stating that he was (Strange that?) unlike a certain Yasuke but I saw nobody saying we wanted that just it made more sense but every comment I saw said they wanted a Japanese Samurai because god forbid we are in Japan you know the place where Japanese Samurai came from.
I still wouldn't be ok with that though tbh. Like when I saw the Ancient one from Docter Strange was a Bald white women I nearly walked out the Theater. It just takes you out of the Immersion seeing white or black or any other color or race\ethnicity representing Asian culture. The race and ethnicities need to match the cultures.
Nioh's William was chosen by the Japanese studio because they thought a Japanese person would not be eye-catching. and The novel Shogun was also written by the author when learned of an Englishman who had once visited Japan. UBI said that ”We prepared our samurai because could not empathize with the Japanese”, then he imitated the pioneers. Well, I wonder whether the White man of UBI can empathize with a gay hip-hop African-American who dresses like a historically impossible Gundam, when he cannot empathize with a Japanese samurai.

I did my best to translate: In Japan, every day there are more inconsistencies found in the game trailer, representations of things that never happened. I listen to a lot of Japanese music. I don't recognize any of the instruments I hear in the game. There are synthetic versions of a lot of Japanese traditional instruments. They couldn't even be bothered with that.
now.. i dont want to defend ubisoft... but the "xun" is just the chinese version of an ocarina. i assume "most japanese people including you" have heard of zelda before. secondly, there have been chinese immigrants in japan since 200BC and additionally trade routes, so claiming its impossible to have someone play a chinese instrument in japan is almost as nonsensical as claiming that the chinese (written) language and the japanese (written) language have nothing in common and that its impossible that there have been chinese words written in japan at that time.

@archeops. Exactly. Ninjas are the most famous assassins ever, so I have no idea why they didn't choose to make a game about them. It could've been a possibility to return the series to its roots after so many games which were called Assassins Creed but had almost nothing to do with stealth and assassination.

It's one of these leftist's strategies to advance propaganda. They have people in one country lie about the state of that country to foreigners in another country, and since you don't live in the country they're lying about, you can't check to see what the truth is. I've seen it first hand in threads about, say, UK free healthcare or Australian gun control. Their leftists will lie to us Americans and say "Everything's been great here ever since we blah blah" and then a right-winger from that country came in and started explaining how that's a lie and what the result really has been. American leftists will also lie to foreigners and say things like "Our healthcare is bankrupting people and letting them die, and our schools are constantly being shot up." And foreigners from other countries will not get the truth about those subjects unless another American comes in to correct the record.

Now the same Guillemots would rather kill entire franchise so he can make a fat paycheck.
As a foreigner living in Japan for years, I could spot the flaws a mile away. From wrong plants showing up at the odd time of the year to armor and buildings.
It's like a universal race to the bottom between companies. I don't even understand how any of the publications or studios think any of these things are good.
Because they systematically ejected all of the straight white men who built the company up, replaced them with political activists and think that most people will agree with them if only they change enough things that are traditionally liked by men to be all about their ideology.
Part I do not understand is why do they call Yasuke a Samurai? There is no records I can find when searching. There are articles that will say he was a samurai because he had some land or other nonsense but that does not make one a samurai. There is ZERO documentation saying he was a samurai. If anything he was more a bodyguard who was given weapons (There is records of that). Oddly the articles saying he was a samurai think that if given a sword makes you one. If that was the case then nearly everyone was. There is little history of him because he was not around for long. What am I missing here? Is this just another case of "Lets change history to fit a narrative?" I cant believe they made a whole game from this character. There is nothing to go by and these articles say "Yasuke is the most documented Black samurai in history". If that is the case then there was ZERO African samurai.

Well, that he is from the US is not a problem in itself. You do not need to be born in a specific region to become an expert on it.
The problem with Ubisofts "experts" is that they are lying actvsts.
In no original source document is he labeled Samurai, to claim the contrary is a blatant lie by those "experts".
they are too lazy to recruit a REAL LOCAL JAPANESE EXPERT for their own game
Nioh made Williams the main samurai protagonist.
Though they made him Irish in the game for some weird reason.

I couldn't believe what UBI has done. It is pretty natural that Japanese reject the game and vote in thum down.
They only have a checkbox for "asian" so that makes perfect sense.

Oddly the articles saying he was a samurai think that if given a sword makes you one. If that was the case then nearly everyone was. There is little history of him because he was not around for long.
What am I missing here? Is this just another case of "Lets change history to fit a narrative?"
I cant believe they made a whole game from this character. There is nothing to go by and these articles say "Yasuke is the most documented Black samurai in history".
If that is the case then there was ZERO African samurai.
