Replacing the Wheel Bearings on a Lamborghini Huracan

- Our 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 needed to have it's rear wheel bearings replaced. It's not a terribly complicated procedure, but it does take a lot of ugga-duggas to get those axle bolts off! The bearings are relatively expensive so doing it yourself would save a lot of money.
This Lamborghini Huracan is for sale at NG Supercars and is VIN ZHWUC2ZF6HLA05722. www.ngsupercar...

The two best Italian mechanics on RUclips!!
Haha thanks
Love this video. It is very relatable for anyone who does their own brakes. Crawling into the wheel well, knuckle buster hidden bolts, Jerry rigging a Pry bar with a kids scooter handlebar. Learned a new phrase too. DT
Haha thanks
I just did my old vw wheel bearings a month ago, almost identical process, volkswagen/audi, fun stuff!
Yay! Lol
I appreciate seeing the real struggles. It makes me feel better about any time I hit a snag and I’m just cursing to myself for a good 30 min about some dumb bolt. It’s good to know that I’m not the problem and I’m not alone. We need a support group for bad loctite and high torque moments.
Lol right?
LOL! That Deuce Bigalow quote is in my daily rotation as well. Thanks for the laugh.
LOL always!
WoW! That last part was crazy! The flex on the breaker bar was insane!!
My righty tighty would have turned into a lefty loosey
Yeah that was nerve racking
Next upgrade for the shop is a proper torque bar - a 1000Nm should be good for you guys. They are usually about 2m long and will make light work of any hub nuts on normal cars. The ones I used to use were made by Norbar.
Get the ones we use in aviation. Its like 3m long with the cheater bar.
We have one for centerlock wheels
@@normalguysupercar Should have used that one then. Sure it worked this time but when someone is using a cheater bar on top of a breaker bar it is a recipe for disaster. ie, when you're putting your body weight into it and the bar breaks and scratchs/dents your car.
A leather mallet or a dead blow hammer will help on those rotors.
Nice car. That is seriously nuts torque and degree turn for that bolt.
Yes it is
I have a 1 3/4" x 18" piece of chrome moly tubing in my shop for years. I've used it as an extension numerous times to break a stubborn bolt loose.
Yup gotta have a cheater bar handy
I think yall do more repairs to cars you sell than major dealerships do
Thanks!
Green Gloves='s Hulk Smash!!! Great job guys!!!
Lol thanks
The brake rotors on this are even smaller than my RSQ8. That's not entirely surprising, considering the size and weight different, but steel brakes are a surprise at this price point and model year.
Options
I'd avoid hitting a floating rotor with a mallet like that in the future, you can knock it out of alignment with the hub resulting in a vibration when braking
Ok
🎉Gotta love hubs and bearing installs! Get a harbor freight front end kit, otc hub tamer and an inductive heater for those bolts with thread compound. Always loosen the axle nut with wheel on ground. U will never get that final torque with that breaker bar.
Great video.
Thanks
It's a torque to yield bolt, I highly doubt you'll snap one. One of the bolts that we use on the engine we build is 300NM then 90 degrees. We've been having issues with the rundown recently and the bolt has withstood over 700NM of torque.
That's crazy
Breaker bars are our friends
Yeah.
Giving new meaning to uggh dugga on a daily basis.
Yes
3/4" inch breaker bar is a must for axle nuts (bolts in this case). Despite being the next size up the difference between a 1/2" and 3/4" square drive is laugh out loud funny. Surprised yours didn't give way like mine did!
Yeah we have a 3/4 torque wrench and it's silly how big it is
Lambos are European muscle cars. Loud, fast and obnoxious.
But fun.....been in one once.
Good work and great video.....
Excelsior.
Yup
Its good you can do this kind of work yourselves.
Yup
I think white lambos are so clean looking.
It looks pretty sharp
They're from the Audi Parts Bin. Every Audi I owned, 3 different models, had the wheel bearings go in less than 40K miles, one @30K
Wow that's awful
Tip: dont use your meathooks as hammers. Ive seen many guys really mess themselves up doing that. Other than that, i hate the press in style Audi/VW wheel bearings.
Yeah I won't it it's really tight
Love the next noises while man n
Handles those tools, lol
Lol grunt
Can't you use heat to make it easier to get LockTite'd bolts out? Or are there too many rubber seals near where you are working?
It seems risky
Man , you & Josh will be sore man handling the breaker bar. Also I remember you saying that you won't mess with any Lamborghini again after the purple one that you had to sale.
We were indeed sore
Was the lambo from Florida?
I've seen exotic rentals beat to shnizz by young people renting them, and then companies trying to sell them off a premium value.
Worse than a rental. A RUclipsr. @Huracanian3051
Not in Florida, Ohio
Do you guys follow a manual and apply the correct torque specs when tightening the bolts?
Sometimes
👍
Thanks
Hé Dan you can get a torque wrench in digital with a setting for putting in a degree and it will make a sound and you have the desired degree you put into the torque wrench (momentsleutel) in Dutch greeting from Holland 🇳🇱
Yes I'm aware
I have the same issue on my 580-2...
Did you buy the bearings from audi?
Yes we did
@@normalguysupercar can you please give me the part numbers for the bearings ?
Aren’t all those bolts single use? Love Lambo DIY btw!
Yes did you watch the entire video?
@@normalguysupercar yes but didn’t you reuse the caliper bolts and the hub bolts?
@@hughmann1908 those are reusable
Now, drive the wheels off of it. 🤣
Yup
I believe that the GPS in the car is why it freaks out. Even when doing a burnout the car moves. Here there's no movement. For future references, check online and see if you can find the dyno mode.
Yeah something like that
How often do the bearings have to be replaced?
Normally rarely ever. I don't know this car, but I'm guessing that it has seen some rough use, thinking burnouts and donuts as it is a RUclipsr car.
They get replaced whenever they start making noise
wow is that normal to lose the wheel bearings at 26K... seems pretty early
Yeah probably the burnouts and doughnuts
Schmee is in Austin, you should ping him and do a collab.
Already did
Built like a tractor
Yup
Just a suggestion, I am certain you can get the torque values for these cars. Torque the wheel bearings to OEM factory specs. If you did you didn't show it, and if you didn't then you should really torque it properly. I am not being a smart ass or splitting hairs. Just the proper thing to do for your future customers.
It's fine
This could have ended so differently lol 😅
So could many things
hurt just to watch that operation could have been a disaster at any point
Uh ok?
Ferarri baby ,, not tractors
Yup
Hi guys!! So great the comment about how do the idiots, do all the burnouts? 😂😂😅 I really hope you guys are okay, and haven't washed away yet, from all the damn rain🌧
We're good. The stream is back to normal
Does it fart like the cyber truck? Lol
Thankfully no
You have the impact set to the weak setting…. And you have the cheap one….
Ok
You should sell tools and then link the tools you are using below.
I'm not opposed to that
It's supposed to make a lot of noise; it's a Lamborghini
Well there's good noise and bad noise...
