  • I tune and shoot at 70m with the 2021 Win & Win lineup, the META DX riser and MXT-10 Foam Limbs. I love the feel of the bow and despite having some tuning issues I still shoot a halfway decent score at 70 meters.
    I forgot to shoot the bow through a chronograph as the tune was still off. I will fix that first before giving data on that one. However the draw weight needed for that tune ended up being 46.3 lbs. (basically the same as all my other setups)

    Love to see product releases that push tech forward in a meaningful way... these are the types of product releases that light a fire under R&D departments across the industry. For brands to survive and not be left behind they have to innovate which results in massive wins for the archery community at large. I am excited to see how this gear is received and how it may impact/influence future riser and limb releases, both from W&W and their competitors. Really exciting stuff!

    I would love to see a video on 'vibration'. It isn't something I've consciously taken any notice of previously, as I've focused more on stability and smoothness of the bow through the clicker.
    I think a potential problem for many of us, is not having shot enough bows to know what good/bad levels of vibration are.
    You've mentioned a few things that can be done to tune out vibration in your other videos, (ie tiller) and so it would be great to have a video explaining how to detect vibration, what the different types of vibration are, what causes it (ie setup, bad shot, etc) and how to tune it out, would be an excellent advanced tuning video to add to your channel.
    I love your channel and its definitely the best archery resource out there today.

    I’m sure I’m the only weirdo in the world who loves to hear the sound of a bow at release. I was told in Japanese folklore, the sound of the bow is used to drive away evil spirits (I’m not into superstition).
    Side thought: I’m sure I “need to shoot +20,000 shots before becoming decent & sensitive to the bow”; but, in high speed, the arrow leave the bow long before the vibration effect the shots, so I’m not concern over vibration? Maybe I’ll feel different after I gain more experience.
    The riser & limbs has THE LOOK..... I NEED that bow but don’t have the 💸💸💸. My AXT is in perfect condition, it doesn’t need replacing; but, the CXT & Meta......😭😭😭. My wallet is crying.

      The vibrations might fatigue the body faster, as the muscles would try to work against each "pulse".

      It's OK, you are not the only weirdo that lovest the sound of the bowstring, every archetr does!
      Regarding the need for a new bow, I could say that you don't need a new bow, and no new bow will help you shoot any better, but that would be sheer hypocricy! At the moment, I am getting all hot and bothered over the Fivics Titan EX! 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

    I had similar issues with tuning, the nocking point was indicated to be really low even at about 12mm above centre. I dropped ¾ turn on the bottom limb and it sorted out great. Take care and good shooting.
    The vibrational dampers are technically not legal for barebow, but if you look at the Spigarrelli Revolution 2, that had inbuilt dampening, and is a very much designed for barebow and is barebow legal.

    Thanks for the detailed review imo.. since you are reviewing the whole package.. i was wondering would the riser feel or give the same feeling & feedback if shot using other type of limbs?.. good to know the dampers are practical & give quite significant feel to the riser.. thanks Jake! 👍👍👍

  • @adamkilroe9840
    @adamkilroe9840 3 года назад

    Looks good. You asked about bow feedback. I like my bow to feel very dead - kind of difficult at my draw weight - but I have 10 inch top and bottom rods, a 6 inch V-bar extender, 12 inch twins and a 30 inch long rod. But yes, when it's a good shot, it does feel clean, there's really no other word for it. If I pluck it, it buzzes, it drops if I forward release and it feels heavy in the follow-through. The bow gives no feedback for exploding or collapsing, but my shoulders certainly do. Interestingly, I've shot a WIN&WIN 27" carbon fibre riser with my Border Hex 7.5's and no matter what I do, the high frequency shock hurts my bow wrist and elbow within 6 arrows, and within a dozen, my shoulder is on fire. I don't get that with the WIN&WIN limbs. With the Spigarrelli Revolution riser, the WIN&WIN limbs feel very good indeed, but the Border limbs are so much quieter and give no buzz at all, even without stabilisers. It's weird. Definitely prefer using an aluminium riser to carbon fibre.
    In terms of feedback, for fun rather than scoring, I like shooting the short WIN&WIN limbs with a short Spigarrelli Revolution riser at a 30½" draw length using a Mongolian style release. No feedback whatsoever. None. Nothing. I like it, but even the slightest variation and it punishes you in terms of where the arrow goes, but you cannot tell at all whether it's a good shot or a bad shot from the bow feedback, you have to go on what your body tells you and what the bow does in the follow through. A good shot feels super clean, but so does a really awful one, certainly a lot cleaner than using a Mediterranean release.

    Watching that final(?) End, around 35:20 in to the video - you're looking distinctly shaky, (but hitting 10s, nevertheless). I'm curious as to the bow weight you're pulling, but much more interested in watching your form, and thinking about your mindset and your technique (all dimensions of it, not least tuning) while you talk through each shot. These are great videos.

    Really informative video, thanks for taking the time to post!
    Did you put it through the chronograph later? The meta DX limbs are clearly a bit slower than the Uukha evo 2 at the same tune, but it would be interesting to know by how much. In this video, at 30m you averaged 203.7 fps. A chronograph near the bow would give a speed about 2-5 fps higher as the arrow hasn't yet lost speed due to drag. In your second to last end with the Uukha (the one before the camera died, at the 2nd highest weight), you averaged 206fps with the bareshafts and 204 fps with the fletched ones at 30m.

    Me in a small minority probably is i like having little feedback in a bow when im shooting. (My recurve is almost full carbon setup). Just to my tastes it feels amazing when i do a good shot because like you mentioned it feels very clean. But also to me when i have a bad shot because there is no feeback it magnifies the error from my form cuz i can feel it more (like in the bow arm if i was to jump my arm forward) However ive only been shooting a couple of years so my taste might be wrong 😅

  • @mikebyford5258
    @mikebyford5258 3 года назад

    Maybe the vertical issues are due to the thickened fadeouts ? shortening the effective limb length // concerns me theoretically that reducing the total limb flex may alter performance .. in the good old days on longbow they learned that flex right through to the centre of the handle was a good thing and bows were tillered "full compass" .. just a thought .

    • @JakeKaminskiArchery
      @JakeKaminskiArchery  3 года назад +1

      They do not change how the limb flexes as the wedge that is built into the limbs in-between the cores end right where the damper deal does. Vertical issues are not from that at all. I used to shoot a 27" riser and short limbs at a 28.5-29" draw length and shot my higher scores with that combo during my career.
      I think less flex is better, as the weather and temperature changes there is less material that is doing the work so less of it gets affected by the changes in temp. Thats my .02

    Hi Jake ... I prefer a dead feel to the rise a la GMX/Exceed .. not a fan of wiawis risers due to their reflex geometry BUT I agree I like to get feedback from the set up when i screw a shot .. @@JakeKaminskiArchery the ex1 evo ii where simply too good for the price and canibalizing customers from there, more expensive, hx and vx offerings.
      they are still listed in the german online shops.
      but no shop has them in stock anyway as they where only produced on order as all uuka limbs.
      too bad for them, the other offerings are to expensive for me so my spring upgrade will be the kinetic vaultage instead the ex1 uuka´s.
      full fledged crosscarbon foam for under 200 bucks.... customers compared them as good or better than 400 dollar hoyt limbs.

      It had nothing to do with cannibalizing. Uukha refreshed their entire line-up for next year. The new Sx50 that replaced the Ex1 Evo2 are the same price.
