Those are some serious stairs and a safety rail on an "observation" deck that has few rivals. You and your Mom are an inspiration.

Love that park. First time was in 1975!! No railings anywhere. You could basically go any where you wanted to!!!

And I thought Roche A Cri's stairs was fun. Definitely need to go to Copper Falls. Lots of climbing and great scenery. I think we should all get to see your first backpacking trip video. You know, for educational purposes. Fun video.

Lol it's so bad. Night of us had ever been backpacking before and we didn't have the right gear at all. Packs were super heavy and we go lost 😢

Would you do the backpacking trail again in the future? I'd love to see that video. I just did an overnight on it last week, and it's absolutely beautiful at the campsite!!! It's only 2 miles in and well marked now, but there's a super steep hill in one section that you have to be really careful on, and the mosquitoes were so bad when hiking, head nets are a must. Thanks for showing us your hike up the observation tower. We skipped it since we were pretty sore from all the other hiking, and I'm glad to see we didn't miss anything haha!

I would and in fact have been back a second time. I'd love to take a hammock set up to the copper falls backpack site snd just lounge by the raging river!!!

Those trails are no joke!! We've been lost at Copper Falls as well. We turned a .4 mile trek into a 4 mile one way (8 mile round trip) detour. Always read the signs!! And don't go with what you think. A lot of the trails were carved out by the CCC, and they really must have thought we needed a work out. I too read all the placards. It gives you time to rest. - bean

When the Warden and I went on our first backpacking trip the rangers had warned us that part of the trail had been washed don't by a recent storm..... we wandered around for HOURS and never did find the backpack site!!!! We just made camp for the night.

@Lone Crow Adventures we found the backpack site. I think when we were there the bridge to get there had washed away. That backpack site is amazing!! Right on the river.

Wow your 68-years-young mom is amazing! You both got your cardio workout on those stairs! How many hours would you say it took to do the doughboy trail? Congratulations!

Took us about 3hrs to do the Doughboy trail and the trail leading to the observation tower. We kept a leisurely pace and stopped to take a lot of pictures along the way!
