I noticed St. George’s Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church in the background of a photo. Two of my sisters & I stood in front of a vacant lot, & cried! The beautiful church ⛪️ that our family attended regularly was demolished by the Archdiocese of Allentown in 2010. ❣️💔

Great job and thank you ! My family names are Bisko/Bisco and Gibson. My great-grandfather Bisco was on the team that built the original St Michael's Church. Prior to address changes our family home was 1 Weston Place. My other Grandfather Harry Gibson owned the town tire shop and did also live on the heights with daughter Bette, my mother. I believe the tire shop was the old post office .I still believe there will be bright times and resurgence ahead for Shenandoah, as both of my parents loyal and industrious spirits were laid to rest in the heights in 2019 ( Bette and Thomas Bisco) .

Very well done sir. It sure does bring back memories. You could spend the entire day shopping in Shenandoah back in the day. The town was such that it was served by three railroads: The PRR, the Lehigh Valley and the Reading Company. Now there are none. Sadly, the town is just a ghost of its former self. I well remember the awesome Christmas decorations that graced Main Street during the Holiday Season.

Even with a snoot full of beer, my grandfather always safely navigated his family up that road into the heights (and back down) in the worst of winter weather in his old Pontiac Chief.
