You could try to watch some videos about lighting and shadowing in art, the guides helped me exponentially increase my skills in digital art and traditional art

Best way to learn light and shadow is through observation. HOWEVER the cheat sheet version is to find a photo/reference image that has a similar pose and lighting angle you have in your drawing and copy that. Or you can use 3D models from either your own making or you can use a program I use called Design Doll. Its free and the paid version is only for specfic uses like saving and opening design doll files but outside of that you can pretty much do everything in the free version with no trial period.

@@manissh098 ohh! it’s probably because your using a watercolor brush. i would prefer to use something else similar, like the pencil graphite. if not you could add another layer and put the layer under the lineart. i tried understanding hope this helped!

I do this, but instead I use a hardlight and overlay layer; I use a soft brush and color the half of the drawing where the light isnt facing with multiply and adjust the opacity

You can also use the overlay blending mode. It make your art glow a bit more.
This is the only way I know how to do lighting lol 😅 ….but man I’m so bad at understanding light & shadows

You can use black on Add blending mode and it acts as an eraser
You can also use white on Multiply, and it does the same.
This is how I've been shading for years! The screen and multiply and soft glow filters are all really nice for achieving different looks.
