As a trumpet player, I can say that it's not really drama, but more stupidity in my band. It's as if they're blasting their brain cells into their horns. There's only nine trumpets here, and I only want three of us to stay in band through high school
I’m the only bari sax in our entire band that’s including highschool and middle school like out of 7 grades I’m the only bari and then my friend is the only bass clarinet in middle school there’s one at the highschool
Ok wait, can I just explain why flutes think their instrument is “heavy”, and why we can’t hold it parallel to the ground? Ok sooooo, the way that you hold a flute, is like, really uncomfortable, and I know that there are plenty of instruments that are worse for holding than the flute, but if you play for more than 5 minutes(strait) then your shoulders start hurting, and they start your fingers get crampy, and your neck hurts, so the solution is usually to hold it at like 75-80 degrees
Even when holding it down it can get tiring to hold your shoulders up, but yeah I’m just kinda weak. The hardest thing of playing a flute for me is getting very light headed, it can take almost as much air as a tuba.
My flute isn’t heavy but when we playing a march over and over for an hour and the universe decides that’s the only song ever that doesn’t have a sixteen-measure-long rest for flutes... yeah, my arms get tired
ikigai ikr It’s actually better to hold a flute at like a little less than parallel for better air support And it ain’t heavy Until you’re playing it for ten minutes straight
@@moi-manda4648 I’m the opposite of stereotypical trumpet players I’m pretty quiet and once my middle school band director told me that I was “too nice” to play trumpet lol

as a fellow flute player, flutes are not heavy, but after a long time of holding it up with no support it starts to ache and holding it up regardless without anything just hurts to keep up so yeah lol.
@@exhaustedphobia9304 well yeah lmao, but im talking about light instruments (like flute) that start giving cramps, aching pain, etc. So yeah ig w every instrument that you actually hold
There's usually never drama where im at, and maybe 90% of other bands. I've never even heard of this stereotype till now lool, im a very, very cheerful person and other sections almost think different of flutes bc of how me and the flutes that i hang around act. hopefully that dies down
Omg! The trombones shaking their heads to the being too loud is incredibly accurate! It just happened yesterday! Our band teacher told us that we needed to be quieter and we cheered because we were playing loud.
Kay Imma flute. 7:22 is SO TRUE!!!!!! Except it's not heavy. I mean, because the flute is held horizontally, if you play for a long amount of time, it can become uncomfortable and kinda cramp up your shoulders which will make it seem heavy, kind of like if you do 100 reps with a 5lb weight. It's not heavy, but after awhile it will kill you.
Well that’s cause you’re not supposed to hold a flute parallel it’s supposed to be angled 🙃 also yeah nah it isn’t heavy at all. And actually a lot of us, our goal is to not be 1st chair cause some of us hate solos lol
Ok my friend is a flute and he is the complete opposite he’s first chair the other boy is last chair he participates in no drama and he’s friends with a trumpet.
As said, the flute feels heavy after a while because even light pressure on our arm, which is holding itself for the flute can hurt the shoulder. Holding it for too long in the same position, just no...

I agree that oboes are underrated. However, in defense of us: at my school, a kid played oboe for a few months then left the school entirely. Kinda turns people off the instrument. Also, our band’s current oboe SUCKS. I guess we’re only in 8th grade but I know for a fact she isn’t trying
