25 years later I still remember this number because of the jingle and use the number whenever a online form has telephone number as a mandatory field.
Me too
I don't think I'll ever forget this number
A friend of mine, Johnny Hooper, sung this! You'll find him on here singing as part of the vocal group on the Radio 1 jingles in 1984, plus with his band Mr Inez.
All in a day's work ... :)
Ah great. Made by TM Century in Dallas. Them and JAM made great radio jingles in the 80's and 90's
The phone number just came into my head for no reason, so I googled it and this came up! I remember this (including the number change) from when I was a child in the UK, thanks for uploading. Man I feel old now...
Ross Hamilton same thing just literally happened to me
Same here. I think I almost dialed it 😂
@DavidL24 its comes up with a message that you can buy it. Greg James of Radio 1 fame tried to ring it on the podcast Tailenders when he used the original L&K phone number jingle 😂.
Just saw this number on a Tom Scott video with a clip from Ghostwatch. Thought it rung a bell. Oh yeah.

Terrific work by the guys at TM Productions in Dallas! A real stunner if you ask me!
Thank you so much for uploading this. One of my most favourite jingles ever. Brilliant edit package, super work. Thanks again.
sweet memories of this one from growing up in the 90's, thanks for uploading
Thought it sounded better before the gold disc from Dallas arrived.
If you stick "2002 Academy Lane, Dallas" into Google Maps you can see the building where this was recorded. It's still there and TM Century is now TM Studios.
Saturday morning kids TV died when they added that extra 1 to the call in number LOL
How come I can't remember my own house phone number, but I can still remember this number
BBC Classic Channel.
0181 is the one I remember from growing up - but I do also remember thinking "the 0-1 sounds closer together than the other numbers" - so I guess the change explains why.
Back when there was no Covid-19 simpler times
"The telephone network is busy at the moment, please try again later. B T has not charged you for this call"
I looked this up to check if I correctly remembered they had to change the number. When they played the new number I was like wait that wasn’t how it went! Then they changed it again, I had no idea there was so much of a deal about it 🤣
I remember this 😊
@ 1:35 Live & kicking's phone number jingle has just gone global
Hi my name is Matthew I was wondering have you got any classic interviews of rhino from gladiators please thank you very much
Why did the BBC bin the superior Going Live for Live and Kicking?
A new controller of BBC One took over Alan Yentob who felt BBC One was becoming stale, especially in their kids output. So Going Live was dumped.

Oh, so they acknowledged that the jingle sounded awkward? To be honest, the amended version didn't sound much better or much different. They changed it again later on, and they got it about right. Not quite the same as the classic 081 though.
The first version was edited by the BBC themselves as a stop-gap (the extra 1 copied from elsewhere in the jingle) - it was always due to be re-recorded I believe.
Was there a predeceasing jingle where they ended with a ‘yeah’ after the end of the number?
Omg
Emma looks like Richard hammond
They used to have a cooler jingle sung by a man with a deeper voice.
I remember it on Going Live without the extra 1 and a deeper voice and he says YEAH at the end.
The first version was better
Still remember this like it was yesterday. Jesus saves
