I have followed you 'Every Step' both SOBO and now NOBO, 'Top to Bottom, Bottom to Top' and have enjoyed walking along with you, so to speak. A huge effort on your part, recording while walking, then video editing. Congratulations. What an accomplishment. I appreciate your efforts and will miss your daily commentary. Thank you Uwe for taking us along with you. Huge respect to you. An inspiration for sure.
Fantastic Uwe, I first followed you down the country 3 years ago and was delighted to follow you back up this year, you make great videos and we will miss your See You on the Trail xx thank you so much for letting us all come along x
Congratulations Uwe! What a great achievement. It has been a privilege and a pleasure following you down and now up Te Araroa. My own TA has been interrupted by injury twice - but I hope to finish the last part going south from Methven when my knee comes right. But you have been an ongoing inspiration. Thanks - and again - well done! Maarten
You are amazing! Think about it. How many people who walk the TA actually finish it? And you did it twice within a 3 year period! You are a hero and such an inspiration. I am early retired since 2019; I went back to solo kayaking then (day trips). I am also an avid day bush walker. Now, I'm getting my gear together for short solo hiking trips. I won't do the TA, but I am inspired by people like you to expand my bushwalking horizons and also return to wild camping. Cheers mate !
Extraordinary achievement. Congratulations Uwe. Some of us are too old and infirm to do what you have done but we are at least able to come with you on the incredible journey. Truly uplifting for me. Thank you very much indeed for everything.
Wonderful effort Uwe. Loved watching you over both journeys over the last 3 years. You also helped inspire me to walk every step SOBO last year. Well done!
I totally enjoyed watching every video of your TA journey again. Lots of great detailed video filming, which allowed me to relive my TA hike. Thanks so much.
Well done old Mate . You are an inspiration to us old people. Have a well earned rest you deserve it. I will go and now follow your first north to south trip 👍
Uwe thank you. I have followed you from about half way up the South Island and enjoyed every step. I found your last installment so emotional. Cape Reinga is a part of Aotearoa I know very well and have visited many times. Following you has been a joy and inspiration. All the best and Thank you for sharing with all of us.
Never expected I would see two thru hikes from the same TA hiker, I have enjoyed watching it again. 153 is really impressive for only walking. Thank you for posting! Big congratulations on your second hike of the TA.
Congratulations Uwe on your amazing effort. We have cheered you on from the deep south. Every step we were with you on your journey. Geo and Pakkin ( and Annie)
Well done 👏 Uwe for completing TA NoBo. Enjoyed your videos as well as the commentary 😀. Hope to do TA NoBo again when I turn 65 in 4 years time. All the best for you and Tenley. Cheers from Trent Direen.
Uwe - I have been away the last 4 weeks and have missed your Auckland - Twilight Camp sections but will catch up soon. I arrived home last night and am delighted to have seen your finish. Well done! I have followed both of your TA journeys diligently. My every step TA journey stopped in Palmerston North after a back injury and family matters forced a stop 5 years ago. You have inspired me to restart next spring. It will be challenging kicking into the Tararuas straight up at now 75 years of age but your approach will carry me well I believe. Thank you.
Hi Uwe, congratulations on doing the double SOBO and now NOBO! We met at Mistletoe Bay (Queeen Charlotte track) paddling in the sea at night and watching the bioluminescece. You managed to find the "last" camp spot right in the middle of the field. It was a great pleasure to meet you and listen to some of your experiences along the trail. I've been following your journey ever since. I hope to see you on a South Island trail again in the future. Enjoy a well earned rest!
Well done Ewe, you have definitely inspired me. Lovely to see you had good weather for the 90 mile beach section. I will miss the TA daily videos, you’re the last of 4 hikers I followed this year. What’s the next adventure?
Well done (again) ... another TA completed. You're quite right - it's difficult to know how many people are doing TA. Not even the Trust will have accurate, reliable figures. Yes ... your videos were all that you said. Definitely inspiring. Absolutely wonderful following you. I looked forward to viewing your videos each day, to follow your day and story. Will miss you and your ... "See you on the trail!!!" Thank you Uwe. We didn't have the chance to meet you when you passed through Whanganui, but I did tell Sven & Angela (Germans) that they would likely meet you along the Whanganui River road. And they did. As they might have told you, they were sobo TAs who had returned to visit us at 'Te Whare Kereru' before their journey home to Germany. They also gifted their walking shoes to the wall of Henry's Hut. An honour. I was so glad they got to meet you along the river road. For now CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for allowing others to follow your TA. I'm still following a few nobos behind you. Maybe one day - we might meet. Until then, take care. Noho haumaru. Rob.
Fabulous Uwe... discovered your SOBO sometime ago and was excited to see NOBO. EfS.. Your videos are the most enjoyable out there 👍 We will be in NZ next season and will try a few sections (we are late 60s/early 70's). Well done 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Uwe, Thank you for sharing this amazing journey with us. I started watching your nobo trek at about the 50th day or so after youtube suggested it to me. Since then I’ve watched all of both south and north bound hikes. Great stuff, and super videos. Do you think that you could make a gear video from the view point of someone that has completed this journey? It sure would help us all to see what is needed for preparing for such a hike. That would be much appreciated.
Thank you Uwe for the efforts making the series and doing the walking. 🙌🙌🙌 I’ve loved your wry humour too 🤣
Thanks

Thank you for bringing us along!
Congratulations, Uwe! 🎉 I really enjoyed this series, as I did the last one!
Thanks
Morning all! And night night Uwe. We'll miss you.
Thanks
Congratulation again, what is the next adventure ?
Thanks
Gratuliere
Danke
Nice to watch ❤
I wish there could have been a crowd of people clapping you over the finish line!
Congratulations! Now that you've walked both directions, which way was your favorite? Did you find it harder in one direction than the other?
No favourite. The first few weeks are hard in any case, until you get trail fit, so matter which direction.
