Love the idea of this series. Really like the discussion near the beginning of each tree.
Me: Think I'd leave that branch
Josh: I'd cut that one off
Me: Yep, like I said, That's gotta go...

With the twisted trunk tree near the 3/5 mark…if it worked out that all his live branches were coming off just one of the trunks he could make a really great looking deadwood feature that wraps around the tree and is intertwined with it.

I could swear I copied the following from one of your whiteboards. Problem is everyone else I watch is not following this at all, not to mention that if I followed it, It would take two years to get a nursery plant into a training pot. Thoughts on that? I'm in a temperate climate. Sorry if this isn't yours.
    Spring
    Prune roots, not branches
    Summer
    Prune roots OR branches
    Fall
    Prune nothing
    Winter
    Prune branches, not roots

That wouldn't have been me, that's too broad and incorrect. If you go grab a free trial of our Premium Blog we literally just did a 4 season analysis of Bonsai Work which might help you a little better.

@@BonsaiEn Ok. You lost me here though:
"Re-Potting : Autumn is a time where we can get away with some Re-Potting but not all species will take it so well, Here in Australia most of our natives can take a Re-Pot in early autumn as it begins to cool and the same with Ficus species. Deciduous species are a massive no though"
If most of your natives can handle it, but not diciduous trees, then what are your natives? Pretty much everything that grows here natively is deciduous except conifers.

Our natives are in a class of their own, we can't even handle them the same as our exotics. Deciduous can't be repotted in autumn as they need that time to prepare for dormancy, they will need to be fed well and also you'll see the leaves pulling the chlorophyll from the leaves to store for winter protection. If we repot at this time the tree may not repair in time for winter and be very weak during the winter season while it will be very susceptible to pest and disease.
