A friend of mine used to do this in his old mustang and let’s say all his gears became neutral 😂. Granted he would grind the gears 90% of the time. You’re absolutely more smooth with it then he ever was
Lol that’s very unfortunate. In the past on an old Jetta I used to have I grinded gears doing this but it was a beater. Once I got good at it never happened again.
I love that these trans are so smooth, looking at the mk7 gli and i used to do it in my 95 accord as it had a pretty leaky clutch slave. I did some unspeakable things to the car but it never let me down lol Love the vids only found you today.
I am learning to drive am trying to get an overview of everything i can and can't do in the car from the perspective of just understanding it and of course if there's a lot of precision involved or it's less useful it might not be important for me to ever learn but from the perspective of understanding how you can and can't operate the vehicle theoretically at least i find this very interesting. I had heard of the relevance of rev matching when changing gears and powering normally and this adds some detail for me about how this effects shifting in general
I accidentally downshifted today super smooth without using the clutch and it confused the hell out of me because i thought i was driving in neutral for a second 😂
so when you shift is there never noise or is there a very light click sometimes, i just had to do this for 300 miles cause of a leaking master cylinder and i want to make sure i didnt destroy my gearbox too much
You don't 😂 if you ever go from 5th to 1st in an emergency situation the engine brake is probably not going to stop the car in time AND you will probably immediately blow up your transmission and gear box. Your best bet is slam the brake first and the afterthought should be bump into neutral if you can do it in time.
I used to have an mk4 Jetta 1.8t years ago that was a beater that I used to mess around with and learn this so that car got the abuse lol. So any of my recent cars that I’ve done this on I have never grinded or anything
@@DArias Man some memories with the Jetta, I had a really beaten one they I got for very cheap that's where I learned to drive and float gears, the gears on that thing were so worn that I could take off with 3 and 4th because 1 and 2 didn't register after years of abuse, the good thing about that car was that a full tank literally lasted a month of driving. I miss my Jetta
I wont even be attempting this, but I would like to know, how bad is it to put the car in Neutral while slowing down to a halt without using the clutch? Lets say you are in 3rd and you know you are about to stop so you want to throw it in N before stopping (without clutch), will this damage something?
Been driving stick for years and still wouldn’t trust myself to do this. Good driving though you make it looks very easy
It’s simple to do I just don’t recommend to do it constantly. If you’ve driven for years you’ll be able to do it

😂
We do this in the trucking game all the time. Mostly up shifting, but down shifting I use the clutch.
Fearless much respect. I’ve done this on older beaters but you have BALLS to give the daily a crack
Confident in my driving! Lol I def don’t ever do this often so just for fun
Great driving Diego. Downshifting is super tricky and if rev matching isn’t done properly the grind you’ll get will be historic lmao. Good stuff
Thanks! The downshift is tricky and if you rev up too much it won’t go into gear and if you don’t rev up enough it’ll grind badly. Need the touch lol
This was very fun to watch. Good driver
Really good stuff here. Nice when people know their ways around 3 pedals
Thank you!
Really cool video and good explanations on the technique. Good job brah
Appreciate it!
Showing off the skills in this I like it
Thank you!

I used to upshift all the time. Got quite good at it. Never downshifted. That’s much harder.
imma do this next time i have a driving lesson i dont my first one just a few days ago
Loll yes do it 🤣🤣
This video is going to be shown to a rookie dom toretto and they’re going to try this and blow up their gear box lol. Good driving man!
Hopefully not lol. This is for good fun nothing else. Thanks man!

Nice showing. Good info and driving. Thanks
Thank you!

lol the fact that I do this in my 13 GT 6spd I love it
Makes driving more interesting and calculated from time to time lol
BEAST
Thank you lol
Smooth bro. Good stuff.
Thanks!
This is useful for emergency situations fire 🔥 🙌
I hit a bump one day going around a corner in my Miata and it popped out of gear. It was the spin of the engine matching the spin in the transmission.
he forgot to remind that you should change your transmission every week 😅
Nice, thanks for the info!!
Anytime!
I did shift from gear to neutral without clutch. It seems no issue. I read somewhere there is mechanism designed to do it without damaging.

I need drive my astra 1.9 diesel to garage as clutch, how I no what to bring rpm to before change
Vw have a particular shiftier fork, it will never go in smooth
@Diego Arias is your friend selling 98 jetta GLX vr6? I'm looking to buy
How do you go from 5th to 1st if you had to emergency stop with the clutch?

But why though 🤔 ?
Just a show off thing to do lol. Once in a blue moon type thing is all. Just for fun
This gives me anxiety. Have you messed up any shifts doing this? I assume so no?

Its fine just puts more wear on your brakes since the engine isnt helping you stop
could you do it to get to the garage if the clutch goes?
.
Blew up another damn subaru🤦♂️
Rip 🫤
The synchronizers will remember that
So the benefit of this is what exactly? Just use the clutch man.. 😂
No benefit lol just fun technique is all. I rarely do this ever
This has actually helped me in real life. There was a time my clutch failed on my way home from a long journey. This is what got me home.
