Great demo! I love Intense and have used it on my silks too. Using an Aloe Vera gel in place of the fabric medium works too. You don't need to mix...Paint with the gel first in the area you want to paint and then add the inktense...wonderful!

+Patti Cook Color can added first with Inktense pencils/blocks and then Aloe Vera Gel used as the moistening agent. This gel doesn't bleed and is very inexpensive (purchase at Walmart). Inktense color does NOT need to be ironed to set. Inktense color is permanent when dry. This is beneficial if a piece is colored after it is quilted. The gel will wash out. If you paint with gel first and then put color on top, some of the color may wash out with the gel. I recommend ... color first and then add gel. If more color is needed after adding gel, let the piece dry (or iron it dry with a pressing cloth if not quilted ) and then wash out the gel. Then add more color and the gel.

Just a quick comment..I've used Derwent Inktense for about a year now. My comment is this: it's called INKTENSE .... not INK INTENSE. But I love the blending my art and quilting skills...it's so much fun.

New to quilting. This occurred to me several days ago. What if you could dye just the edges of an applique to give it some depth. Ok, now this is the same but different, and I LOVE it. Thank you so much for this information!!!

Call it simple pleasures...but I am so happy I found this video!!! I just bought InKtense...for this reason, but didn't come across this video until today - finally someone who gets to the point, without a lot of music and distractions. I have a small flag in my garden that has gotten faded over time...and I plan on using Inktense on it, to liven up the colors again. It should work, right? :-)

+Juliana Leo One thing that I will add....is why not stretch the fabric for ease of placement?

+Juliana Leo - From the demonstrator: I'm so happy you like our video. This was a really fun technique for me to use, so i understand your excitement!! It took a few trials for me to find out what worked best for me. Yes, i believe the Inktense will work on your garden flag. It might fade over time again, but anything in direct sunlight will. So, next time you can change up your colors, make it a whole new design. Putting your fabric in a stretch frame isn't a bad idea, but what I'm generally working on, like the while suit, was already quilted so I really didn't get too much stretch. I think it's a great idea to try though. Thanks again for watching!!

Is that 2 parts fabric medium to one part water or the other way around? Thanks.

Use 2 parts medium and 1 part water. Just enough to thin it down but not enough to make the liquid spread.

If I use this technique to paint on a white jean. is this going to be OK after washing? Will the paint wash away?
