Chevelle Face to the Floor // Composer Reaction - The Decomposer Lounge
"Its not the size of a D that counts its how they play it" 🤣🤣🤣
Literally laughed out loud when he said that. I'm waiting for the bus.
It's not the sixe of the D in the song; it's the motion of the rhythm.
surprised more people aren't requesting "Comfortable Liar"..... that shit slaps lol
Comfortable Liar is my fucking jam. 20 years later it and Family System are the only two songs I have never skipped through on a playlist. It’s always the mood.
That song with a subwoofer is nuts!
Dude have you heard “Take out the gunman” that one is the best
Dude, as a fellow bass lover, you MUST listen to An Evening With El Diablo from Chevelle! ✌️
Their bassists have always laid down some solid bass lines
I recommended this song as well like a month ago. Really hope he does it. The song is just nuts.
Door to Door Cannibals!
Just.....yes!
Could not agree more. Should have been a single, imo. It's just so damn good.
Great fking song!!
I recommend Sleep Apnea by Chevelle for the next one.
That or Panic Prone. Two of my faves
Anything from Sci-Fi Crimes would suffice.
Most underrated single Well Enough Alone.
👏👏👏
Yes Sleep Apnea!!! 🤘
Chevelle never disappoints and certainly filled the prog rock gap left by Tool’s 13 year layoff. Never got the respect they deserved and probably the best live performers!
Chevelle is a very underrated band.
Maybe in your small circle.
What I love about Chevelle: Toolesque from 25 years ago without copying Tool from 25 years ago
They're like an everyday man's Tool in the best possible way
@@maxs1060 I like the way you worded that. I can get on board.
Also "Evil" Joe Barresi is both Tool's and Chevelle's engineer!
sounds more like a perfect circle
Well said.
Do "The Clincher" by Chevelle--bet you love it.
This is one of my favorite Chevelle tunes. That main riff is infectious.
Keep up the Chevelle!!!!
I don't love Chevelle. But I've always liked Chevelle.....they occupy a cool little niche to me.
Nowhere near as great or creative as Tool. And nowhere near as basic and shitty as say....a band like Trapt.
They're just damn good and consistent. And every so often do something super interesting. Just a solid band with cool riffs.
Love Chevelle so much, Top 5 favorite bands. Their guitar and bass tones are epic. And Sam?... one of my favorite drummers.
“Get Some” is a killer track. Highly recommended
My favorite track! 🤘🤘🤘
This song is a completely visceral experience for me. Gets you right off the jump with that thick and chunky guitar/bass combo. Only real music fans understand what I mean by "thick and chunky". Smashes you right in the center of the chest. Love how you break down the difference between the left and right. Genius reaction, man. You continue to amaze me :)
Would definitely check out “Door to Door Cannibals” next!
Banger
Great suggestion.
👏👏👏
Love me some CHEVELLE! They are an amazing 3 piece band. They put out a huge sound for a 3 piece band.
BRO finally Chevelle here’s some recommendations
Roswells Spell
An Evening with El Diablo
Door to Door Cannibals
Family System
Comfortable Liar
Closure
The red
Send the pain below
In Debut to the Earth
Saturdays
Safe waters
Vitamin R
JawBreaker
Chocking Game
Arise
Hats off to the bull
Ruse
The Meddler
Sleep walking Elite
Also I love you’re channel if seen you grow a lot and I’m so happy keep up the good work 🤘🏽❤️
This, but also Letter From a Theif and Sleep Apnea...and Take Out The Gunman 🙈 Ohhhh, and Piñata...and then there's A New Momentum...
Comfortable Liar
In other words, just pick any Chevelle song and it’ll be awesome! 🤘🏻
That damn riff gets me everytime.
Did not expect Chevelle, loving it, I double the Sleep Apnea request!
This is a 3 piece band as well, kick ass sound from only 3 guys!
this band sounds Exactly like Royal Blood, pls forgive my ignorance, but which came first?
Actually only a two-piece now, but they do have a touring bassist!
@@n__rtu8324 chevelle for sure royal blood was 2011 an chevelle formed in 1995
@@n__rtu8324 Chevelle
@@n__rtu8324 2 years late, but nobody answered your question, so I will. Chevelle was a thing almost two decades before Royal Blood existed. Also I don't think Royal Blood sounds "exactly" like Chevelle, but that's not a dig. I just don't here the same similarity as you.
There are so many excellent Chevelle tracks. The Clincher, Mexican Sun, Pinata. The whole discography is chock-full of incredible riffs and melodies that give me goosebumps. All time favorite for sure.
Chevelle is just Awesome
More Chevelle awsome! Envy is another good track off the same album.
This songs rocks your face to into the floor. That's why I like Chevelle. Simple and sweet.
When I saw these guys live, I couldn't believe it was only a THREE piece band. It was absolute fire.
Chevelle is a really good band👍been listening to them for years.
Saw Chevelle-"Fuck. Yes." Can't wait for you to do more.
Seen them live 4-5 times and they're ALWAYS excellent.
Ha…same!
I love watching him react to parts of songs I know will get a face change! I knew the final chorus would get him on this song with the added melody part! He did not disappoint. 10:13
I always thought chevelle was underrated. Their musicianship was really great.
An Evening With el Diablo is my favorite song by them, hope you get around to hearing it!
Some of my favorite Chevelle songs : Saturdays, Another Know it All, and Get Some for sure. You should check out "The Evil has Landed" and "Avon" by Queens of the Stone Age and "Hymn for a Droid", "Cubensis Lenses" and many others of the Psychedelic P*rn Crumpets.
Hell yeah Saturdays
@@erikzacha It's my favorite. I wish they played more off Vena Sera live!
haha very nice - only the second time i've seen someone suggest Porn Crumpets! I feel like he would rrrreallly enjoy "and the Addled Abstract of Being" because of the soaring orchestral arrangements ;-)
So happy Chevelle made it back on the channel.
Hell YEAH dude! Another one of my favourite bands, these guys are super underrated.
Thank you so much! I subscribed when I caught your previous CheVelle reaction. If you do another one consider “Get Some”, “Forfeit”, “Family System”, or “Envy”. Their discography is fantastic..
Love that your doing Chevelle. Please do some more man, they have such a deep catalogue. Incredible band.
Yeah, this settles it. This is my favorite RUclips channel. The way you explain this is phenomenal, you open up an understanding of my favorite songs I would've never had. I'm a musician, albeit a mediocre one, but hearing you gush over small production things most people don't catch warms my heart.
Man chevelle has always been one of my guilty pleasures. One of the few hard rock commercial bands that I still listen to today. Would be cool to see you react to some of the new album like "so long mother earth" or some of their classics like " the red" or "well enough alone". Tons of great music
He did So Long Mother Earth about 2 months back.
@@chickenmonger123 Damn I'm dumb. Or too zoinked lol because I didn't even realize even though I've seen damn near vid on this channel haha
@@albreezy26 Easy to miss. He works fast.
Yeah I never wanted to admit I loved them originally
Lol i'm proud to be a huge Chevelle fan 👍
Geebz, would love to see an Every Time I Die reaction. Map Change, Moor, Decayin’ with the Boys, Fear and Trembling. Lots of excellent choices
Seconded!! Best hardcore band in the game
Bruh, ETID is life! Revisited em recently. Purchased physical copies and digital copies of their albums. Geebz could pick any song of theirs.
Atlanta from Stone Temple Pilots is a must react, it's such a beautiful track.
This is the second time you've popped up with this band that I was just listening to.
Then keep on listening to 'em! One of my fav's
It doesn't matter how big the D is its how you play it is the greatest line I heard yet
Another masterpiece of engineering from Evil Joe Barresi!
First time I saw them live, they were the band that plays while people are still coming in. I immediately went to their merch table and bought Point #1. To this day my favorite album
Another great song. I love this band. I was lucky enough to see them live when they opened for The Butterfly Effect in 2007. I don't think they have been back to Australia since, so I'm so glad I saw them.
I believe Chevelle tunes their gear to drop C. Forfeit, The Red, Bend the Bracket, Send the Pain Below, Well Enough Alone, Vitamin R. Luv what you do, friend!
FINALLY some more Chevelle! They have to be one of my favorite bands I've discovered in the last 4 or 5 years. _Vitamin R_ and _Jars_ got me listening to them, but the albums La Gargola and Hats Off to the Bull really hit hard with who Chevelle are to me.
Geebz, you have to listen to _An Island_ or _One Ocean_ off of La Gargola, even if you don't do a vid on them. Fantastic songs
yeah been listening to them since Point #1 they've always been awesome
Their newest album is an absolute slammer.
Take out the gunman
@@froshambo I'm def gonna pick it up sometime soon, but I've been rolling through a lot of old albums that I haven't touched in years; it's a really long process...
Please do more reacts to NINE INCH NAILS. They are such a unique band and Trent Reznor is such a musical genius that it almost makes me tear up of happiness.
Peace and love from Romania
Some music its the hook riff, but my favorite artist its the voice of the lead and the energy put into it.
You should listen to their song, "Envy". I think it has an (good) interesting composition
So many songs use that major 3rd. It makes me smile every time
Love this tune! It makes its point quickly and in brutal riff fashion, plus has a picardy third for "release." 🤓
Gonna spam you with more *Delain* suggestions: *"Burning Bridges" "Here Come the Vultures" "Nothing Left"*
🤙 Mahalo!
Great choice, Geebz! This album was produced and engineered by Joe Barresi, who also did the last two TooL albums. Chevelle is heavily influenced by TooL, and you can hear what "Evil" Joe, as he's called, does to make these bands sound amazing. He's known as a guitar centric producer, but man he knows how to make that bass tone growl like a lion! Love this album, check out "Hats off to the Bull" or "Take out the Gunman" for more Chevelle and Evil Joe goodness. Aloha! 🤙
Hell yea, hats off to the Bull and take out the gunman are a couple of my favorites from them!
Ahhh, AWESOME... Love me some Chevelle! If you're planning on hitting them again soon, I'd for sure check out one of their newer bangers, Self Destructor! Awesome guitar work throughout and that same kind of haunting vocal, definitely a great listen with those cans on! 👍
This is as basic and simple as you can get. But they do it well. Give them that.
More Chevelle please!!!
Its not the heaviest sound wise but the song "Saturdays" has got to be my fave Chevelle song. I know you dont do lyrics but its a nostalgic ride about how we all feel safest in those saturdays of our youth. Song makes me cry sometimes. Straight jacket fashion is a wonderful ride aswell. So much melody.
YES!!!! CHEVELLE!!!!!!
Sooooo many great tunes they've created.
Really glad you are diving into them.
Also thanks. Learning so much from your perspective and now listening to songs in a somewhat different manner and loving it.
Chevelle is an amazing band with great albums!
Riffs in this one have a kind of Tool/Audioslave vibe to them. Great insights in this one, good stuff.
Chevelle Letter from a thief, I lov this song.
RIVERSIDE - LEFT OUT. Amazing song. The bassist is the vocalist. Awesome bass.
Geeeebz, nice song choice, one of my favorites from them! I'd recommend "I Get It" if you plan to revisit Chevelle in the future. Great decomposition as always!
The only reason I bought the sci Fi album is for" Roswell spell" it's amazing
IN THE BRIDGES I HEAR A LOT OF TOOL....THIS SONG REALLY TAKES ME BACK...THX FOR THIS LITTLE NUG....PEACE FROM THE NORTHEAST...
Gotta take the time to pitch another one of my favorite bands:
Fair to Midland - Musical Chairs
OR
Fair to Midland - Amarillo Sleeps on my Pillow
I'd like to add Coppertank Island and A Wolf Descends Upon the Spanish Sahara!
It's pretty remarkable that a band of brothers can manage to work so well together for so long. Look at Oasis.
Chevelle is basically Tool without all the math ...Very "in the Pocket" for the most part with their radio tracks!!! . All their well known hits will be the "Under a minute to win it" type , but they also have their longer more intricate Tool/A Perfect Circle type songs. And basically being a 2 to 3 man band with a hired bassist and the occasional additional guitar for tours, they are in my top ten favorites. Vitamin R and The Clincher are also great well known radio hits....you really cant go wrong with these guys! Just randomly chose a song and enjoy!! Non - Point is another great band with their own uniquely funky approach and sound.
So excited to see another Chevelle reaction! They’re my favorite band and this song is great
Huuuuuhe powerful sound cranked out by only 3 people. Had the opportunity to see them perform in a small, packed, sweltering hot club in Hershey PA when “The Red” first came out. Amazing live performance
Please do more Chevelle! I would recommend The Red, Saturdays, or Letter from a Thief....they're all great!!!
It's so cool that you picked this song to do for the second reaction to Chevelle. There's so many others you could have done. This is an absolutely fantastic super heavy song. I love how Pete actually sings with this powerhouse of music behind him. The bass and percussion is unreal. This album is my favorite to listen to when I am shoveling multiple inches or feet of snow in the winter in northern Minnesota. It totally drives me. I think I've bought 5 shovels in the last 3 years.
Thank you for doing Chevelle! Please do more. You really can't go wrong with any of their songs. My two favorites are I Get It and Joyride.
Chevelle has a massive catalog of music. All of it good.
Check out Choking game. Best outro ever .
Yes! Choking Game and Remember When
Nice to see you get into that groove and get that head banging. Let's me know that I'm not the only who knows they found something special with this song.
“Evil” Joe Barresi is the record engineer and producer for both Tool and Chevelle. That’s why the mix’s for both bands are so good. 🤘🏼👏🏼🤙🏼
Old Chevelle is the best Chevelle.
My wishlist:
Family System
Still Running
Emotional Drought
Straight Jacket Fashion
Shameful Metaphors
Please be my crazy ass Santa on a surfboard. I've almost been really good this year.
Chevelle is one of my faves along with tool! Keep on these amazing bands!🙌🏼
So happy to see you doing Chevelle. They can be a breath of fresh air among more complex and aggressive rock and metal acts.
You should do Mushroomhead: Destroy the World Around Me. It takes so many twists and turns. Each transition is seamless and the song as a whole is an 8min. journey that leaves you wanting more. I promise you will thank me. You should do some Static X also.
Thank you for doing more Chevelle. They are so much a radio-oriented band, but have sneaky fantastic songs on their albums. If you ever do some more Chevelle, please consider "Shameful Meataphors" off Sci-Fi Crimes or "Saferwaters" off Vena Sera. Vocals as an instrument really make those two songs exemplary cuts from the Chevelle catalog.
Can we get some "An Evening With El Diablo" - Chevelle? The bass alone on that track is wild
Oh yeah! Great song. Have always loved the drive and groove of this one.
Loved your decomposition of this great tunes, one of my favs from CheVelle. As a 3-man band, their sound is amazing. Keep 'em coming please!
I love this song! You should listen to Nothing More next. They're amazing.
5:13 was straight up gangster
Could you please do one of my two favorite Chevelle songs. I am subscribing with the hope you might just do it.
1) Chevelle - Mexican Sun
2) Chevelle - Sleep Apnea
Love it... chevelle is so underrated! 🤘🏼
I really like their "Sci-Fi Crimes" album, 'Mexican Sun' and 'Roswell's Spell' especially. Also, 'Dos' is amazing.
Great 3 piece band! I saw them live in 2019 and they sounded great!
Get some by Chevelle gotta do it man! One of my all time favorite bands! A little behind Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Mastodon.
More of all the mentioned above. Love your channel man!! It's fantastic! Keep it up Geebz!
Awwwright!🤘
Probably read this comment a hundred times. Their first few albums were recorded and performed by THREE BROTHERS. As a fellow musician I could only imagine how amazing/crazy that would be. Please listen to the opening two songs from their debut album POINT #1. It’s a very raw recording, but such a well written intro and bleed into the next track. Few musicians write “albums” anymore. It’s a good listen my man.
ruclips.net/video/AD-MiXjRaUE/видео.html
sounds like you need a bit of King Gizzard in your life, they've written many concept albums
Regarding the last video, it depends on the band. If I know the lyricist has a tendency towards philosophy, I'll give the words my focus. If the band is the selling feature, they get my attention.
This seems like a good time to introduce the band VOLA. They just released their 3rd album, and it is absolutely amazing. First song id recommend is "Stone Leader Falling Down." Crazy rhythmic riffs, but the drummer holds it down.
You sound like my son. He plays drums in a jazz band that tours from New York to Florida. He plays lots of instruments and produces all the music his band releases. He taught himself how to use the most advanced Reason software at the age of twelve and ended up getting a degree in music. He effortlessly reads music and is really good at keeping time. The argument I always have with him and that I will have with you is that you are analyzing the music rather than experiencing it. I would not trade my carpenter experience of music any day for your understanding of music. I was gifted by the universe with the ability to feel the music. Most are not. Those of us who are feel truly blessed.
Chevelle...when I met my wife..I was in a local band and I was singing ..the Red. She thought I was a rock star. I've been one ever since
If you want to see a band recognize an engineer, check out Rollins Band "Liar". Theo Van Rock, their engineer, was a full member of the band, and oversaw not only their recordings, but all of their live performances.
I’m partial to Chevelle’s earlier stuff, like “Family System.” Still hoping you’ll get to these bands that are new to you:
HUM - “Isle of the Cheetah”
You haven’t heard bass tone until you hear this song. And so many layers! I’ve been in love with this song since the album was released in 1998 and it never gets old.
ELDER - “Sanctuary”
COVET - “Odessa”
Math rock with jazz elements and the slightly melancholy atmosphere of a Smashing Pumpkins song.
Just a consistently awesome band
Try Chevelle's "The Fad" next!
Please checkout Queens of the Stone Age-Song for the Dead. Definitely a good song to listen to with cans on. I think you'll dig it. Been watching for a bit now and love your reactions. You've made me listen to music a little bit differently. Thank you sir! Mahalo!
Please check out Audioslave. Chris Cornell was the vocalist and they're such an amazing band
