I once owned this jacket and found the fit to be really strange in the arms (really wide) and also the melton wool its made from is very stiff, I am sure yours has worn in more but I eventually ended up selling mine, but as with all Bond items you can get your money back on the grey market
The Billy Reid peacoat arrived this week and unfortunately I might return it. The unlining is something I'm just not use to. Felt uncomfortable on the skin. Do you just wear long sleeve with it?
I have one in navy color, size xl, it is fitted (it forces you to have a relatively molded torso, if not, it will not close you) it has no inner lining, the texture is hard because the fabric is thick and expensive 500 dlls + import taxes fees (160 to Spain) the look is fantastic even for fat people like me;) the leather details on the neck and pockets are very good
Hi Ken, I've been thinking about getting one. Can you help me choose a size by telling me your chest measurement? I'm 5ft 11', 165lbs, but kind of slim built, so I guess the S would be better for me.
Hey Ken. surprisingly it is great, though i would always wear a pullover/swat/jumper. It is pendelton type wool, so really densely packed which is great for wind proofing.
Could you tell me your weight and height ? i reallly dont have any idea whatsize would fit me wellll I got muscular body type of 175cm and 83 kg usuallly wearing polo ralph lauren L size and Eu 42- 44
Hey Kim, I'm about 80kg and 6ft (180cm)ish. I think a medium will fit you if you want a tailored fit, otherwise if you are really stacked from the gym or want to layer go a large. I think we may be pretty similar so take mine as a cue. in the vid i wear a knit etc. and mine is a medium. Just remember it is a tailored fit. Bond wore several sizes in the film for different scenes so don't take Daniel Craig as an example either.
@@CameronO Considering my weight , i got pretty big and wide shoulder and back I think Large size would fit me welll with my sweater Thanks for your size guide I wish you all the best!
@@kimdaniel8682 Hey Kim is there any way you can try them on or get both and return one. That's what I do when the sizing is so close. I can't give much more guidance I think.
Medium fits me nice and snug. if you want to layer id consider the larger. I know for the Skyfall movie they had DC wear different sizes depending on the scene and what else he wore.
I've been looking into Peacoats quite a bit recently, and the Bill Reid Bond coat is one that I am considering. I know that the coat presently on their site is listed as 75/25 wool and nylon but there is, or was, and 80/20 coat. Since you mentioned in your video that you have a second coat, is the second coat the 75/25 version and could you do a video comparing the two. Per the BR site, the newer version is supposed to be slightly lighter weight and slightly fuller in cut. I'd like to hear your take on that
Hey Dave, the second (newer) coat is 75/25. The old one I still wear is 80/20. When we end up going back out after lockdown ill start the new one and do an update video. Likely not until next autumn though.
@@CameronO I've only personally worn the one from schott. I personally like it but I know how some may scoff at schott, but its decent. The one from the real mccoys looks quite nice though.
Hey Devin, Schott seems to be all over my feed these days but im so new to all this i don't know or haven't tried a lot of brands. I started with the intent to just upload my thoughts as i found it tough when i was looking for quality stuff but it's evolving into such an awesome way to find quality brands and items and also chatting to like minded people like you! So I want to try Schott, though there has to be a need to fill. I actually just sold my N1 so am keen on a cold weather jacket for next season.. who knows. See what the year brings ;)
@@CameronO Black...all they had left in my size (really wanted to come back to the US with one, and went to my 3rd Burberry store in London on the final day)...,...probably would've gone Navy...but anyway, as an older guy, the more formal look is probably better for me.
Nice I have a Burberry one too ! 90/10 cashmere blend in navy had it for 10 years still fits nicely …collar is much bigger than the bond one which is also sweet
Hello Cameron, I am in the process of buying this exact jacket. It looks great on you. I ordered both a size small and medium. Did your medium ever stretch out? The small is pretty dang fitted, and the medium fits well with more room.

I have a similar one by Fred Perry and it's my go to coat every winter.
Also a tad short and probably would not cover suit coat. I am considering the Private White which is a few bucks more.

I'm quite partial to the RMC U.S. Navy Peacoat. I love the buttons on the model. Not cold enough to have/wear down here; had/sold.
Thanks mate. Still waiting for post lockdown to try on other brands!

Does the collar flip up and wear the same on the new one as they original?

No nylon lining or inside zip pockets for your stuff. The fit is perfect.
It lacks the collar of the traditional P Coat.
I think the lapels are slimmer than a classic peacoat
Yeah they are on these, especially when i compare to a Schott or similar pea coat. Though I Kind of like it.
They're "modern" lapels. In other words, soyboy lapels, like on all the cheap sportscoats these days.
Cool video appreciate it. Question to you how tall are you jacket looks great on you would it look good for a 5’6” tall gentleman?
Depends on the size. I'm just about 6ft and yeah it fits nicely!
hey happy holidays just curious how warm the jacket keeps you in the winter? thanks!

Hi Cameron, what sweater are you wearing in this video? Thanks in advance!

Hey Andrew, Never really thought about it to be honest. It is well worn in though, not sure someone would buy it.

Is the collar as small as it appears?
It is :) I've not worn a military reproduction with the large collar so can't comment on those. This interpretation seems fine for me
@@CameronO ah I thought so. I'm use to the collar going all the way up to my ears
Im defo keen to try one of the more regular ones. I realise Billy Reid is only a small brand. Any recommendations?

That looks like a double breasted jacket. Ive never seen a peacoat with such a small collar.
Correct. The double breasted is a defining element of the pea coat. Thanks for watching

Hey! It never stretched and mine had enough room to layer underneath which was ideal. I'd go medium by the sounds of it
@@CameronO thank you for the reply Cameron, yeah I ordered a medium! So excited to wear it out this winter.
lovely coat
Thanks Neal!
One would think...at that price point...one would get 100 percent wool. I don't care for spending that kind of dough, on a wool blend.
Not being fully wool for something that costs over £650 is a joke to be honest.
They have a Black Friday sale right now. I believe you can get it for $638.40 USD, if you throw in an extra t-shirt you can bring it down to $558 USD
Those are cute lapels! And when I say cute, I mean give it back to your teenage neighbor.
