I would absolutely listen to Christina’s cursive singing, she gave me mainstream artist vibes… and I would most def listen to Kath’s cursive singing, her version gave me hot new artist with a unique timbre vibe, and also Lauren’s gave me a whole different tonal quality, and Amy fidna be Amy, I’d listen to them all honestly

So definitely a 1920’s 1940’s. Jazz style singing… people been doing it for a long time. Also doesn’t sound British, it’s just a lot of British singers do “cursive” singing… like Try listening to other British singers, metal, or opera… they don’t sound like that either… sounds good tho! Great concept for a show!
I’ve never heard of “cursive singing” but this cracked me up because everyone was singing like this in my college days (think the Mumford and Sons era) and wearing oversized sweaters and flannels and skinny jeans. We just called it “hipster singing” 😂
I don't go on TikTok, and I had no idea what this was, not by name or in any way. Kath's was really good, because it was so different than her norm. Lauren's harmonies are so clashy but good in all the right ways. I liked all of them, and I believe you all stepped way out of your comfort zones!
In like 2011 or something, there was a Singer on XFactor UK called Diana Vickers. She was the first person I ever heard singing like this. The term cursive singing wasn’t coined yet, she just sang like she was off meds for a week 😂 Good voice, but definitelu very stylised
My takeaway from trying to understand what people are talking about with “cursive singing” is that it’s either people singing in their actual Australian (or British) accent, or Americans trying to copy that accent, without realising that’s what they’re trying to do.
