Dudes I just got the x3, the 100watt version, the distortion is INSANE, its amongst the heaviest sounds ive ever dialed in on anything lol. i like that peavey made this newer line of the vypyrs a bit warmer than the past ones, smoother. people looking for a wide variety of styles/sounds might still go for the katana or something else, but as a metalhead who just wanted some acceptable options for effects to go along with crushing distortion, the vypyr freakin slams. the cleans are underrated too, it sounds good this thing.
Good Job....This is the first video for the Vypyr Amp that doesn't make you think that figuring out the configurations is hopeless. The X1 knobs/menus are exactly like my VIP-1. If you catch a video for the VIP-2 they're not the same....especially the "Inst/Stomp" layout.

Saw the thumbnail and I remembered: I had one of those a few years ago! What I remember is that it was great! Loud! Couldn't go above 1 on the master v. What you get for the price is amazing. Thanks man!
I briefly had a VIP1, but quickly realized, being color blind, those multicolor LED indicators were going to cause a good deal of frustration. So it went back. Pity, as it seemed like a good sounding all around amp. These days, the VIP2 and VIP2 practically are given away on craigslist locally, so I found a VIP2 for $40. Figured I'd put up with the LEDs and use the software to edit (not as exciting as it sounds). And it is a very good sounding amp. With one baffling feature: despite all the built in effects, there is only one kind of reverb available, adjustable only by the Reverb Level knob. *shrugs*
The Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 was my first amp from 7 years ago for $127. This looks like the exact same amp in a different box. It was OK for getting started but there are so many more options available now. These days, my favorite plug it in and practice amp is the Spark Mini.
I prefer the extra options on the upper models, but this is definitely a good solid little amp. I've got a VIP 2, and it's still not obsolete. lol. When the time comes I'll most likely stick with the Vypyr models.
I *think* you have to install the Vypyr software for it to get the driver, but I'm going by memory so not 100% sure. What I do know is that I had successfully recorded DI from my old Peavey Vypyr via USB in the past, but I had to tell my DAW to use the Vypyr as its primary sound device to do so. It worked but wasn't ideal.

Buddy, how is it at low volume? Can I play in the apartment? It makes a lot of noise, as I understand it there is no noise reduction?

Jackson 5 clean tones were legit! Are there any DI options on it?
There is a USB port, but my computer wouldn't recognize it as an audio device

I just bought a positive grid spark 40. It's ok! But nothing so far beats a tube amp! Or I'm just old? That's a possibility? 😂 Thanks Steve 😊
