Granted some of them have been burned by charismatic ministers and now theae critics have a vendetta against all charismatics. If we countinue will end up chasing our tails like dogs or playing waca mole it's exhausting. These critics will never be satisfied, at times is like an obsession for them. brother, friendly critic here. I think you are missing the center of the point. We are all thankful for your contributions, really. However, the fact is that you, along with folks like Sam Storms, are always cited by charismatic preachers as being the in-house scholars who give credibility to their viewpoints. That is how you are branded by the internet. And, one of the most egregious and famous charismatic preachers still to this day is Benny Hin. Through international icons like JESUS IMAGE, Benny Hin has retained popularity among millions of young charismatics. Please do them all a favor and recognize your simple responsibility to fairly analyze this guy and stop making excuses for how busy you are. Respectfully, you sort of walked into this by appearing on the round table that specifically brought up Benny Hin. No one is asking you to call out all the false teachers.

Ask him how much money he made from the books. It goes both ways, you have a platform that speaks to millions of people, if you see heresy, you call it out to warn people. That’s it and it wouldn’t hinder your main goal or focus.
It’s funny the team quickly posted the link that happened a few weeks ago. But like you said, no one is condemning browns work or his calling, he agreed to the round table, he agreed for American Gospel, claims to not be associated with NAR, but he’s not part of the film anymore for a few reasons. At the end of the day, are all Charismatics bad? No.
Do we have some that preach absolutely Heresy? Yes
Do we have some that oppress the pour? Yes
And do they need to be called out? Yes

ON PROPHESY: If you host a Roundtable on prophesy, I put myself forward to be at the table, as I've written and published on the meanings of "prophesy", and now understand that God has made me a prophet ... BUT I'M NOT of the "everyone who wants to be a prophet can be" group, nor is Benny Hinn a prophet. God has verbally spoken to me, like little Samuel, and one vision, and other encounters. I didn't seek it out. Corrie Ten Boom told her story at the tiny 35 person church I attended as a boy. Also, an author named John Langer hears from God regularly. I consider Johnathan Cahn a prophet, although I've never spoken to him and I don't know if he accepts that mantle. The late Chuck Smith was a prophet. Prophets do not hear from God at their own will, and even Bible prophets seldom heard from God.

Hopefully this helps clear things up for all sides. This is Dr. Brown's position on the Benny Hinn issue as of now. (Quotes below from his live broadcast 4/2/24 "Does Benny Hinn Need To Repent?") Summary: Dr. Brown speaks on specific events if God calls him to, and he has addressed this general principle before. He will not judge Benny's salvation, but leaves that to God. He will not condemn this particular Benny issue because he has not done enough research for himself, to make sure all the evidence presented by Justin Peters is in the correct context. If it all is in correct context, Dr. Brown considers Benny to be a false teacher, heretic, shouldn't be in ministry. He agrees that Benny's own pledge he publicly announced is now condemning Benny based on his recent actions - Benny must repent and be accountable. He believes giving to a specific ministry to achieve financial breakthrough via God is sinful, abusive, and manipulative, and anyone who peddles this to get wealthy is sickening and abusive - God will judge.
    39:00
I do address these things as God brings them to my attention, as I feel burdened to. Otherwise, I've addressed the issues. We've laid these things out for years.
    39:36
As to judging the man's soul? No, God's his judge. That's my line that I draw, right here.
    22:14
[Justin Peters et al.] read me a list of this, this, this, this, and I said, categorically... when they read their statements, categorically, I said if all that's true, then that person is a false teacher, that person is a heretic, that person should not be in ministry, categorically. So that's it. Where do I stand? That's where I stand, if all that's true, that's where I understand.
    22:20
I've not done the research that Justin's done... he's done 100 times, 1000 times more research than i have, but I can't go by someone else's research unless I check for my [self]. You, if you're going to make public statements, you've got to check, you've got to verify, right?
    12:40
I am saying his own words condemn him. He's done the exact opposite of what he's pledged never to do. He must repent and be accountable.
    21:00
If you tell believers that the key to their financial breakthrough is for them to give to your ministry, that is sinful, abusive, and manipulative. Worse still, if you then use their money to enrich yourself, that is sickening and detestable. You will give account to God!
    33:30
His own words are condemning him, in terms of what he's saying.

I appreciate all the books you have written. There is some great stuff there. I personally don't do all that because I'm not in fulltime ministry. I work on my business. But even if I were fulltime, I doubt I could do all that research. Having said all that, John MacArthur has done a lot of work and built a seminary and college etc. He has preached through the entire NT and many OT books. RC Sproul did a lot too. Yet, they criticize the charismatic movement as well. I personally spend a lot of time in my mid to late 20's fighting legal battles for the right to street preach in Australia. Fought all the top Australian Barristers and Queens Councils in the High Court of Australia without using a lawyer and won the right to street preach Australia wide. I also spend a number of years in the Muslim NO-GO Zones in the UK witnessing to Muslims in their homes.

    • @marinusswanepoel1825
      @marinusswanepoel1825 6 месяцев назад

But see that is exactly the problem. When MacArthur "call's out" charismatic error he does little to no personal research and whatever "calling out" he does is clearly not done in good faith. Michael Brown will not tell someone off without understanding clearly what they are about and what they are teaching. He is saying that calling someone else out appropriately in a way that will allow his conscience to be clean before God on judgement day is going to take time and dedication that he simply does not have. And it is deeply concerning that so many Christians think it is that simple. (edit : in M Brown's list of books there are quite a few books written naming others by name whenever it becomes absolutely necessary - including one in which he ironically calls MacArthur out for false teaching on the gifts of the Holy Spirit)

literally every argument has been answered by genuine charismatics (to specify that there are obvious false 'charismatic' teachers).
      The bible is continuationist.
Do some abuse it? Of course. But that's why Paul wrote 1 Corinthians- because of abuse.

What you might be missing is Dr. Brown's definition of false teachers from the Bible. The same standard you use would also mean that Luther was a false teacher. He clearly departed from sound doctrine in way worse ways than Hinn does. Why aren't Justin Peters and others willing to label Luther a false teacher? To be clear, I find Hinn detestable and to be a false teacher, but I'm not demanding that Dr. Brown use my exact words towards Hinn like others are.

    • @Sansho1954

The irony is that Hinn, Copeland and their ilk are doing precisely what the Roman Church did in Luther's day - telling people if they pay them money then God will bless them and their families.
Luther was utterly sound on the essence of the gospel - charlatans like Hinn and Copeland are not - I utterly condemn Luther's comments against the Jewish people, but still believe he was a genuine Christian and one used to advance the cause of God and Truth more than virtually anyone else in church history. Additionally, he showed immense courage and knew that his stand for the gospel was highly likely to result in his being burnt alive, but he stood firm for the gospel despite that very real threat - the only thing that Hinn and Copeland are concerned about is fleecing vulnerable people put of their money.
I used to have a lot of respect for Dr Brown and have found many of his books to have great value, but this is a terrible cause to fight for in the way that he is.

      Concerning Luther
Do you really believe that telling people to burn down homes and kill people is not as bad as asking for money? He actually said that God told him to kill people. You're applying an unequal standard. If you demand that people come out extremely harsh towards Hinn, then the same should apply to Luther.

Many of these evangelical critics want blood. They demand charismatic leaders condemn to hell those charismatics whom these evangelical leaders have targeted. When charismatics refuse, these particular evangelicals become piously indignant. Part of the shaking we are in has to do with God exposing judgmental attitudes in us which are akin to Moses shouting "must WE bring forth water for these rebels?!" and striking the rock. The door for these leaders to repent of this sort of thing is closing. It's one thing to address doctrinal errors or certain behaviors while not passing final eternal judgment on those teaching it. Questioning the why and the how of doctrine and behavoir, yes absolutely but unless the person is in blatant sin, we can't declare them to be "false brethren". If they are in sin, it should be handled the way Todd Bentley's situation was eventually dealt with. So those who won't heed the still small voice of the Holy Spirit in these matters are going to find their spiritual lives drying up. God requires we be faithful in that which is least. If we are so callous as to pass these kinds of unrighteous eternal judgments that are a false weight against people, God WILL NOT trust us with His power and His anointing.

Claiming expertise based on the number of books written, undermines the value of the written word. Many books argue that the Earth is flat, deny the moon landing, or suggest 9/11 was an inside job. Despite the amount of books these ideas remain false. Similarly, writing thousands of books on any topic, like Jesus being the Jewish messiah, doesn't inherently make the claims true.
I see the argument of "look how many books I have written" being a very unintelligent one. I don't remember watching a rabbi bragging about the amount of books he has written.
Secondly, you may have expertise on one thing but not on another. Let's say that you are a good scientist, that doesn't make you a good theologian or vice versa.
You may have written good books about human rights or LGBT, but as far as I can tell all your books written about Jesus and or Judaism, have no merit. It doesn't prove anything. It's just a word salad, pressed together in books.
The only time I could see someone bragging about books, is the amount of endorsements he received. Let's say you claim that 10 ultra Orthodox Jewish Rabbis have been convinced by your books, that would be something. Brother, you haven't.
    Books are meaningless.
Unless it's a book that teaches you for exemple how to fly an Airplane. And you see people actually taking off based on a book.

Dr Brown you make a good point at tge same times the wolves are ravaging the sick and poor making commerce of them and you should take the warnings from people who study the topic seriously. I love you but you give those wolves cover. You’re brilliant and I love you as an elder of the faith. I pray one day you take some time to really study those wolves you already know a lot in all those things you wrote about. If you wanna see revival Dr Brown. Take the time just a little time it won’t take long and call out those blatant blasphemers in your camp and I bet you would see revival as charasmatics come out of the teaching of those wolves. Don’t trust your feelings (nor other’s feelings). He was humble and very clear to why he showed the books. He wasn’t making an argument but asking the critics to use equal measures. For example, there is a reason why Peters doesn’t confront Islam- he is being faithful to his specific calling. Brown is being faithful to his and others need to stop expecting him to do what they think he should do. Don’t judge another man’s servant- that’s Bible, you can trust that 😉

Agreed. All I could think, as a pastor who has appreciated the books I have read by him, is that while watching this long drawn out piling up of credentials and accomplishments is how it doesn’t take almost any knowledge and discernment to identify wolves like Benny Hinn. It doesn’t take studying all of his sermons or listening to his financial appeals and twisting of Scripture. It takes maybe 5 minutes of research. No more than an hour at most. And it doesn’t require a special calling to answer this. I knew the answer as a new believer just by reading the New Testament. I didn’t need to publish a book to spot an obvious false prophet or warn people about one. Some other people are not as obvious though.

Although I admire the work Justin Peters does, the only thing I will take from him is the criticality of discerning what people teach in the name of God and the things they do, for that I am thankful.
That's all, and no cessationism. To me he seems more wrath and condemnation than paving a way for that person to turn back to God. I don't see any love for the person he is criticizing although he says so. I am not an American, if people were to reach out to the lost and confused in country like mine, the way Justin ministers, you would have more haters of God than actual repentance. You have to be creative like Paul. You can't just come and say sinners prayer in the face while being full of wrath.
I don't buy how cessationists determine for God what God can and can't do. We in our country have seen works of God that will shake you to the core with fear of God. And when I hear cessationists talk about how God has stopped working nowadays, I see their arguments as empty as an abandoned house. If hyper charisma becomes major will cause problems. If cessationism becomes major that also is a problem because then christianity will be just another religion that is as dull and empty as the rest.

And since you brought up Paul, Paul called out people by name when he was deserted by those who were brothers, or turned on him, or spread sinful talk (which he said would spread like gangrene).
Dr. Brown does work in reaching out to the Jewish community and defends his perspective on the gifts. Great. Justin Peters is an evangelist and travels all over to give presentations for the gospel. You are within your rights to criticize Justin on cessationism if you like. It is also fair to criticize Dr. Brown for providing cover for those who abuse people in the name of God, like Sid Roth, Benny Hinn, and Ken Copeland.

Just recently, Justin posted a video on Kanye, I agree everything he said but not how he approached by slamming sinners prayer at the end of video. Making people hear sinners prayer is not how gospel reaches people. Never. Look at that video, and say honestly if Kanye were to watch it would he turn back and reflect? If all the servants would gather to be united by the Spirit of Elohim as the genuine body of Messiah, their service would be much more effective. Rather, they work as independent ministries which too often end up distracting and dividing believers instead of gathering the body to be united by the Spirit of Elohim in Yeshua's Name.
The Scriptures Old and New clearly state that Elohim expects His servants to unite and work cohesively as one. Yeshua prayed for us to be one as He and His Father are One. That is Biblical unity, not the shameful mess we see today.
Elohim expects His congregation to have and maintain this level of unity just as His Son Yeshua earnestly prayed for it. That being the case the cohesive, schism-free unity is possible for those who choose to believe and obey Elohim to focus getting whosever wills to gather together for the purpose purged of self and sin to be united as the spotless body and bride of Messiah. Then the Everlasting Arms of Elohim will show forth His Beneficence and Power through us. Then the world will know that Elohim has indeed sent His Uniquely Born Son Yeshua the Elect One in the world.

He questioned his credentials, his deity, his Title, his Godliness in all forms and fashions, and yet what does Jesus do, that is different than any man’s typical reply????
Nothing…… but scripture! He doesn’t give him his Title, His status, anything because that all stems from the root of prideful, arrogance, boastfulness, and an evil place in general.
So if Jesus being perfect, doesn’t have to respond back when being questioned ,which, if anyone has the right too it is him, yet, he didn’t, what are we doing?????
If Jesus didn’t have to defend him self, like a lamb lead to the slaughter, didn’t have to make a defense for himself, because he knows who he is, he has trust in his Father and his established place, we don’t. We do it out of anger, pride, arrogance, yet our savior if we truly cared about walking in his foot steps should realize we should pray for those who speak badly against us not coming out of a defense when we know it is the evilness of this earth who that really is at the end of the day, just like Jesus did and didn’t make a defense or felt like he had to give one!

Dear Dr. Brown, it is sad to see you disregard the prophets and prophecies that God gave his servants to guide and give clarity to the church in this long season of change for America and the entire world. Why would you say they should not be listened to? The word clearly says in 2 Chronicles 20:20 - Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. Just because things didn't turn out as was expected does not mean they lied or did not hear God. In the Bible, God gave a prophecy that the children of Israel would only be in Egypt for 400 years; they ended up being there for 430. It doesn't mean God lied or that his will didn't come to pass. God's word is true and doesn't work alone; He works with the church, and even if circumstances don't seem to line up, God's word remains true.
By the way, why are you concerned about how the church 'looks' to unbelievers? They are in darkness and they are under the influence of their father the devil. Our job is to be the salt and light to them so that they can be delivered into the kingdom of light; we are not called to cater to their disdain for the church. Why did you go and answer to them and participate in the secular article they wrote, 'apologizing' to them on behalf of the church? Who asked you to do that? Did God tell you to do that? What made you feel the need to help Him 'clean up' His image. You reached out to many leaders in the body of Christ and made them 'repent' and apologize because Trump was denied his rightful seat when the elections were stolen.
When did you take the time to go into God's presence and ask Him and He told you the prophets were all wrong? It is not your place to 'call out' prophets and judge them. You have a lot of following and you are influencing many people to be scared of prophecies and the leadership of the Holy Spirit to His church at large. It is still God's will for Trump to be president again; the church needs to understand this, stand in the place of prayer and stand against corruption. God on the other hand can defend Himself and His image.

Dr Brown. With all respect, it would be fine if you refused to denounce people as false this or that if you said I don’t consume their content so I couldn’t say tie the way. But you do say either way. You speak positively, you promote, you encourage, you rebuke criticism, you abhor the language used - but then when someone say “but… then your book table comes out”.
Yes our critics are not prolific authors. But you’re playing games here. Yes you have called people out - yes you have made public issues you find. But when someone does their homework, which is what you’re almost mocking here, on those who prove to be outside of orthodox either praxis or belief, then you simply brush it off as either an over reach (but you haven’t read/watched their content) or you couldn’t say either way because you don’t know them personally to make that critique.
Your point here is clear. But you’re missing the primary issue raised by others. Mike winger is a good example - he sees massive issue with Benny Hinn, does an expose and then suddenly you pay attention and have time to process the content.
Your ministry is greatly appreciated, but you really have missed the point of the issues being presented.
That said, thank God for your fine work. I hope it’s the last time you ever put it on display in this manner as I truly believe you went down to the level of Jp and the others often come across as haughty.

Therefore, there would need to be two kinds of tongues in the Bible. Both would need to be the normal Christian experience. One for prayer, one for evangelism. Where is interpretive, Acts 2 tongues the normal evangelistic experience among Pentecostals?

Besides that, Acts 2 tongues happened spontaneously under an intense move of God, likely without the awareness of the speakers knowing they were communicating universally.
Until we see a move of God not unlike Acts 2. I wouldn't expect to hear any such tongues. I've heard of it happening from one reliable witness I know (who is quite critical of charismtaic excesses), but I don't understand where you get the idea of this being a normal Christian experience.

I completely understand your frustration ! I would recommend that during your intro that you state that you are an independent preacher/ teacher/ evangelist, that you are not affiliated with any other pastors and do not endorse them unless specifically stated. It’s a shame that we have men that claim to be promoting Christ.. but are doing the opposite.
The reason they are so aggressive with their criticism is because they are members of a dying denomination / group.
I grew up in a dead church, we read about miracles but never discussed them. At the age of 18 as a high school failure, a useless pot head I walked into an Assembly Of God Church, the pastor preached boldly in the spirit. He spoke of Sin, miracles and redemption.
The third Sunday I attended when they gave the alter call, I knew that if I didn’t answer the call, I would probably never walk into church again. I accepted Christ that day, with no thought about quitting marijuana, I quit that day because the desire was gone, I finished high school and went on to get a degree in Engineering.
( sad note of interest, Justin Peters even criticized the students praying at the alter during Asbury revival)
Cessation churches have little to offer a broken person that desperately needs Christ.
