I will be working on the follow up video of Carlos in the coming weeks, and aim to release it late February/Early March
    UPDATE: 12/9/22
I visited Carlos again the other day. He is doing well, and appreciative of all the kind words and support. I will be posting a follow up video sometime in January.
    UPDATE: 9/22/22
I saw Carlos again two days ago. We had a nice talk, which lasted longer than the previous time. He remembered me, and even where I lived in 2007. I gave him some help, and told him of all the nice comments and offers to help from this video. We coordinated to meet again in about a month, and have tentatively planned a follow up video about him.
He said the tunnel was cleared out about 10 years ago, but didn't remember the exact year. He thinks it had to do with Amtrak cleaning up all the graffiti, as well as all the construction and other activity right at the entrance to the tunnel.
    _________________________________________________________________________________________
UPDATE to address some recurring comments:
I saw Carlos a few weeks ago - it had been a while since I last saw him, so it was a pleasant surprise. He didn't remember me, but seemed to be doing ok. He was listening to the scripture, and wouldn't talk too much, but he confirmed some things others have told me about the tunnel.
I don't know where he lives now, but I have an idea of the general neighborhood he is in (I won't share that info). He does seem to be "homeless" still.
I hope to find him again in a month or so to check in on him.
There was at least one other video of Carlos (unrelated to mine) that came out about 2008 -ish. This video was a co-production between a French company and the Sundance Channel.
Sundance released the segment with Carlos on their show "Full Frontal Fashion." In that video Carlos repeated a prediction made by Harold Camping (a Christian radio personality) that the world would end in 2011. The start of this judgement day was supposed to start on May 21, 2011 and culminate on October 21, 2011.
In that other video, Carlos said "May twenty-one" instead of "May twenty first," so viewers thought he was referring to May 2021.
It appears that video blew up in popularity during 2020, and the person who posted it has since made it private. A copy has been uploaded, and can be found on youtube. If you listen closely he does say "2011" at one point, but it is hard to understand.
The French documentary about the freedom tunnel is called "dans les entrailles de new york" and is also on youtube.
Carlos spoke about this prediction/prophecy when I filmed him also - I didn't include it, because as far as I can tell, it didn't happen.
If you listen closely, during some sections of my video you can hear the radio show in the background - he listened to "Family Radio" pretty much all the time.
I saw another documentary from around 2013? that briefly showed the opening to Carlos' home - his voice can be heard coming from inside declining to be on camera. He says that the cops had already come through that day.
It is certainly possible that those videos, and others, plus articles and blog posts about the Freedom tunnel got Carlos and the others removed. This tunnel and it's residents have been in the news since the 1990s - there was even a Jerry Springer episode about it.
I think it is also possible that gentrification contributed. There has been a ton of money put into that neighborhood, from both developers and the city. The whole area is much more active than it used to be. Plus the area where Carlos lived, and entered the tunnel is actually being used now. Amtrak has maintenance trains, extra track and other equipment right there. They installed lights, so the whole area is much brighter. The park maintenance crews are also right near the entrance, storing their lawn mowers, etc. It would be much more difficult to go unnoticed now than it would have in 2007-2008 when I first visited the tunnel.
I also heard that the people were cleared out of the tunnel due to flooding from hurricanes in recent years. Unfortunately without finding the person who gave the order to remove everyone, there is no way to know the why people were removed.

TBF, you don't get to be rich by being nice. You need to be cutthroat and outsmart the law as well as rules of business. You need to pay for a good lawyer and listen to every word they say. You need to diversify your investments and never trade on emotion. You need to be able to make others poor in order to benefit yourself. You need to be able to walk over others to get them out of the way for the road you pave to wealth. You need to be able to drop friends and family just so that you can make money. You have to make your life all about making more money, or you lose it all.
Then when you are wealthy enough to live comfortably and maintain that wealth off dividends, then MAYBE you might have an ounce of peace like many people that live in poverty get.
Though that almost never happens, and I mean by being rich and then just retiring/stopping. Making money is just as addictive as any illicit drug. There's no remorse, if only that you wish you should have screwed over more people to get more money. The kind of people that get to be rich, don't know how to stop, and will never stop. The kinds of people that see what they have become and want out, end up losing it all, or more often, never making it in the first place.
Life is unfair and you only get one shot at it.

It’s easier than you think to one day wake up in Carlos’ situation. I hope he continues to do well for himself.

I was definitely shocked when I saw the computer. So cool that he had all that stuff all without being a thief. A man of God. Totally sucks they kicked them out. The shelters need to change and actually help these people. He obviously could use it.

It's a shame how many homeless are liars and scammers. I've tried to help the homeless, but I've lost count of the number of "I'm a diabetic, my wife just died" type stories. I simply cannot trust them in my city anymore and it's a shame. I even tried letting a homeless person stay in my guest room for a couple nights. He went from a calm, reasonable person, to a psychopathic stalker who refused to leave. Started claiming he was an IRA commander and would have me killed for kicking out a "grieving, diabetic man."
I'm glad you're out of you situation, but the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of homeless people brought it on themselves.

This world is rapidly passing away and I hope that you repent and take time to change before all out disaster occurs! Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36) if you believed in Messiah you would be following His commands as best as you could. If you are not a follower of Messiah I would highly recommend becoming one. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life - Revelation 3:20.
Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13 over the course of 1260+ years. Revelation 17 confirms that the beast is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God.
Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc. Have a blessed day!

8:30 I've been in similar situations myself. It wasn't drug or alcohol related either. I just had a hard time keeping my feet planted anywhere for very long. I was homeless for a while. I've stayed in old vacant buildings abandoned houses in cars in tents you name it. I didn't call my family for the longest time right up until there were absolutely no options left. I didn't want them to know what I was going through. I finally broke down and called my brother who was actually in the process of remodeling an old house and the woman who owns it is like his best friend of over ten years now. She agreed to let me stay in the house until I could get back on my feet. It isn't much it is old and a little ran down but I now have a roof over my head, running water, and electricity and a full time job close enough that I can just walk there everyday. I am currently living rent free which was her decision due to the condition of the house as the owner with the option to rent it out when it is fully remodeled at a very reasonable rate. It is a pretty small town much smaller than where I was living so rent will be relatively cheap. I actually look forward to getting off work at the end of the day now because I have a place to relax and watch movies or whatever and I don't have to sit in public and use the internet and listen to other people making rude comments about it. So things are starting to look up for me.

it is but i can also understand it on the other hand. the city is potentially responsible/liable for anything that happens in those unmanaged, unmonitored sewers. there is potential for poor air quality, or if there was serious flooding like there was a few years back that killed a bunch of people living in NY living in non-permitted/illegal apartments - the city could potentially have huge lawsuits on their hands for allowing the opportunity for people to stay there if something went wrong.

At the end of the day, we all need to work to live. We make choices.
Many homeless people were/are drug addicts and while still quite bad, is understandable why they will be unlikely to ever get back on their feet.
Then you have people like this man. Yes, a nice guy and respectful. However, he still choosing not to work and is content getting free, nearly expired food out of dumpsters to stay alive. All the while living off of free electricity the rest of the city is paying for; full of people who are working day in and day out to afford said electricity.
