Worked at the lake arrowhead Hilton in the 80s. got snowed in for a week. They let the employees stay at the hotel for free. I had one of the villas down on the lake. Fireplace, Jacuzzi tub. It was great!!!
I lived in Lake Arrowhead for 37 years. Storms like this don’t happen a lot, but they are not as rare as the news makes them out to be. I’ve been through at least a half dozen 6+ footers like this one in my life. I remember school closing for 2 weeks straight when I was in jr high and we didn’t get out for summer until like June 29th or 30th because we had to make all our snow days up. I have pictures of 1978 when the snow was up to our 2nd story deck (10 feet).
Yeah loser and I've hiked the PCT Mt. Jacinto during snowstorm and Long's Peak in Colorado. People like you are trash because you blame victims. Go wreck yourself.
You haven’t mentioned how many people are stranded because the roads have not been plowed! Haven’t seen a plow since Thursday!! Poor planning on the part of caltrans. Sorry but I think some heads should roll on this one.UNACCEPTABLE!!
YESSSS!!!! Anyone who was actually there knows. I got excited when I actually saw a snow plow! I think the people in this area don't have American attitudes. They don't care about helping their neighbor. THey should be held responsible for gross negligence. I'm sick of seeing it. If you don't like Americans or the US go make love to the cartel.
Lived here from 70s and we most definitely had it before… especially the 80s… no power for over a week in running springs.. dad had to walk to the CHP station up live oak to get to work… we had to dig out from the back door and stock all cold food in the wall of snow like it was a refrigerator… boil water to take a bath by candle light & could not even find our car. Could walk off our top balcony the snow was so deep.. Complete blizzard & blackout during the day time… No school for all that time either of course and we ended up eating my dads (second job as a National guardsmen) meals from that by day like 10… we loved it and no one complained 👏🏻👍🏻 ppl have just grown completely entitled, not able to be self sufficient since around the nineties especially since internet took over. Anddddd far too many flatlanders have moved up and still haven’t a clue how to put on chains nor how to use a snow shovel and expect everyone to come to their rescue at a drop of a hat… like the lady who told the chp to go get her groceries… these ppl alllllll had fare warning before the storms came and should have stepped up to take care of themselves. I've never seen a community so unprepared. I even drove around Lake Tahoe. What these people did in this city was gross mismanagement. The city official didn't care. I saw a guy get on a snow plower with a beer.
From my experience these mountain communities are not meant for other than vacation homes and cabins. There are some hard core locals, but I can imagine with the lack of housing that many people try to live there year round because it is cheaper
The fact you think an entire mountain community is 100% part timers is ridiculous, and it is not cheaper to live up here probably more expensive when you add expensive like gas up and down

Vinyl Chloride is a chlorinated hydrocarbon occurring as a colorless, highly flammable gas with a mild, sweet odor that may emit toxic fumes of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen chloride and phosgene when heated to decomposition. Vinyl chloride is primarily used to make polyvinyl chloride to manufacture plastics. Exposure to this substance affects the central and peripheral nervous system and causes liver damage. Prolonged exposure to vinyl chloride can cause a set of symptoms that is characterized by Raynaud's phenomenon, joint and muscle pain and scleroderma-like skin changes. Vinyl chloride is a known human carcinogen and is associated with an increased risk of developing liver cancer, predominantly angiosarcoma of the liver, but is also linked to brain and lung cancer as well as cancer of the lymphatic and hematopoietic system.
