To me (and apparently the rest of the comments section on the ERB video), Oppenheimer absolutely crushed Thanos, no contest. Thanos had some good bars, but his delivery was awful for most of it. Oppenheimer's bars were pretty consistently good and outside of the first bit that was a reference to probably the most interview of Oppenheimer and the butt chin line that at least worked to transition to the faster pace of most of the rest of his part, his flow was great.

Check out the "I am become death, destroyer of worlds" video, it's only about 50 seconds, but it's fucking haunting. Also, another jab at the fact that Oppenheimer hated the creation of the atomic bomb. "Seems you started off a chemist and on your world you were a prodigy" The way this is written emphasizes heavily on Thanos not caring at all about the human race, which is why he is willing to do the "snap", destroying half the planet, just for his love to Death. Also, bulid up line for the next one. "Well, that makes sense, because your rhymes are only hot periodically" This one basically emphasizes the lack of care about humans from Thanos even more, saying that even a prodigy of the human race isn't able to spit hot stuff constantly. Also, nice wordplay with "periodically", referencing the fact that the most basic and well-known thing of Oppenheimer's field of excellence is the periodic table. "Man, I burned the Avengers down to Embers Sent half your planet to be slaughtered And now I'm offing Oppenheimer like I did to my daughter" After some flexing, he references his sacrifice of Gamora in kind of a flex, which is very cold-hearted to do, he also used it for a very solid direct jab, saying, he's going to "off" Oppenheimer, which is an O-Alliteration. Just some great writing, even though the amount of jabs at the same spot start to overdo it a little. "'Cause you slept with your friend's wife Right there in your friend's bed Then got another married girl pregnant You should've gone for the head" He really dug deep into Oppenheimer's personal life, since it's Not even that easy to find reliable source of all this. Also, the very last line might be a reference to the fact that Oppenheimer's first serious Girlfriend Jean Tatlock died in 1940, where it's suspected that she commited suicide. Oppenheimer: "Listening to you took everything I have left After your raps, I am become deaf" Out of the Gate, Oppenheimer uses what is the most known quote of his entire life. "I cause chain reactions when I'm lyrical 'Cause I got that fissile material" Chain Reactions are what gets the fissile material in an atomic bomb going. He now distances from dissing Thanos' Flow, flexing about his own lyrical abilities instead. "You were born to Eternals, but came out looking so scary That your own mother tried to make you a temporary" Thanos' Race indeed is one of immortals. Upon being born, his mother feared that Thanos would be trying to destroy all life in the universe. Only His father could save him from this attempted murder. "Meanwhile, I've mastered the atom, more than any man alive" Oppenheimer was indeed considered one of the leading physicists in the world, even before working on the Manhattan Project. "Now I'm here to split U like two and three from five" U235 stands for the isotope Uranium 235, which is the one used in the atomic bomb. Also, Splitting the atom is the way to initiate the explosion of the bomb. What a great Line to Nerd on. "It must leave you enraged when you compare our talents Because in this battle, there is no balance" Mainly a line to flex again, but referencing Balance for that one is a shot at Thanos' cause of action, restoring balance in the universe.
Thanos II: "For a communist pariah, you come off as awfully cocky" Oppenheimer was alleged to have connections to communists after war, which ultimately caused him to lose security clearance and his job for the US-Government. "But I'll make you bend the knee in round two like Nagasaki" Nagasaki was where the second atomic bomb got dropped, ultimately causing japan to surrender in the war. "I'm the box office topper, the Marvel showstopper Got my name on this win like it's the Thanoscopter" I gotta say, that's kind of a weird flex for someone who has the Infinity Gauntlet, can literally create Plasma energy, and all that. Also, the Storyline around Thanos was part of what got Marvel as big as it is now, so it's not really a show stopper. "You just got no answer for Fortnite's dopest dancer" Even weirder flex, didn't age well at all since Fortnite had a hype phase but is far more irrelevant than other accomplishments Thanos had in his life. "I will Loki choke you out like my name was Throat Cancer" That was a sick bar with multiple points to address. First, we all know, Thanos choked Loki to death. Second, Oppenheimer indeed died of Throat Cancer, so Thanos calls himself the cause of Oppenheimers death. Third, "Loki" is a double entendre here, also meaning "low-key". Throat Cancer's spreading slowly causes the breathing flow to decrease, ultimately killing by choking the person. Oppenheimer II: "You wanna talk about Death? How about the one that looked at you and swiped left?" Oppenheimer immediately responds to Thanos' last line, making "Death" a double entendre. In Marvel, Death is a female character who Thanos was deeply in love with, but who had absolutely no interest in him, favoring Deadpool instead. "Swiping left" is what you do when you're uninterested in someone. What a line! "I'm the destroyer of worlds You got your nuts handed to you by a Squirrel Girl" Oppenheimer finishes his own quote here which he started with "I am become deaf" in his first part. Then he proceeds to roast Thanos for the way he got beat by Squirrel Girl (who, to be fair, did beat some pretty insane villains by herself). Getting his nuts handed to is just a fitting way of describing getting defeated miserably. "We're in the endgame now, Tinky Winky" Oppenheimer references Thanos' purple skin color by calling him the purple teletubbie. "I'll finish this like Ant-Man, all up in your stinky" One huge fanmade thesis is that Ant-Man could beat Thanos by himself with shrinking himself, crawling into Thanos' Body and expanding inside of it. This line does reference that Thesis. "Anyone who believes that 'Thanos did nothing wrong' crap Has obviously never heard you rap, oh snap" Oppenheimer just drops the mic with that one. Some people argue that Thanos actually does the right thing, balancing out the human race. He flips that arguement with saying that even if Balancing the human race is the right thing, his rapping absolutely isn't, and the "Oh snap" in the end is intended to finish the battle as intense as Thanos' snap is.
In boxing terms Thanos was a slugger, he was very slow but when his punches hit they were pretty hard. Unfortunately a few of his swings missed. Offing Oppenheimer like I did to my daughter I’ve got my name on this wind like it’s the Thanos copter. But meanwhile Oppenheimer was like a swarmer, he get in there and just started wailing on him with quick rapidfire hits even gain a few good slugs in too. Even the fact that he was the one who was given the snap was an uppercut.

However she never loved him back and even during the IG despite doing exactly as she asked, killing half the universe, she refused to speak to him because of how he did it and became so much more powerful than herself. If you check out one of the only pieces of footage of Oppenheimer, he's got a lot of the mannerisms similar. Check out the "I am become death, destroyer of worlds" video, it's only about 50 seconds, but it's fucking haunting. Like real scary shit when you know the context of him describing how he felt when the first atom bomb was tested.

Sure, 2 + 3 = 5 but it goes way beyond just that.
U = Uranium in the periodic table.
The most common isotope of Uranium is U 238 (it's atomic weight), but this isotope is not fissile and does not trigger the chain reaction for a nuclear explosion.

Why the delivery? Because that's how they wanted to do it. It's not hard at all. Oppenheimer nuked Thanos. Thanos actually lost points in the second verse. "Thanos Copter"?? "Fortnite's dopest dancer"?? in a battle rap??? He basically dissed himself. That was weak as hell. As a comics lover, I was appalled when that copter episode came out. When you fully grasp what Oppenheimer was saying, you will see that he indeed BODY Thanos. Did you get the "I am become deaf..." or the "Tinky Winky" references?
a strategy in battle rap is to diss yourself in battle rap in order to get rid of ammo for your enemy because it's like you accept that horrible thing about yourself so then your enemy can't try to roast you with it because it's like "dude I just said this and pointed this out myself" and it's supposed to help you beat them in the long run after you get rid of some of their ammo but he was way too late at that point anyways

Oppenheimer played off round 1 with the "Oh Snap." Explained as such... Who's afraid of Thanos that can snap you out of existence, when Oppenheimer can leave you as nothing more than subatomic particles before time began and the universe. there is multiple meanings in the u235 bar....its the periodic table number for uranium and 2+3=5 and you gotta think subtracting numbers and splitting them is basically the same thing as splitting atoms and splitting atoms is a chain reaction.....and a chain reaction is how u235 was made

Thanos did literally everything he's known for to try to get with Lady Death and was rejected. This line is a _Brutal_ bar comparing that to a rejection on tinder.

Terrans are the Human Race in StarCraft 2, so that's a nice little reference there. Also, another jab at the fact that Oppenheimer hated the creation of the atomic bomb.

The way this is written emphasizes heavily on Thanos not caring at all about the human race, which is why he is willing to do the "snap", destroying half the planet, just for his love to Death. Also, bulid up line for the next one.

This one basically emphasizes the lack of care about humans from Thanos even more, saying that even a prodigy of the human race isn't able to spit hot stuff constantly. Also, nice wordplay with "periodically", referencing the fact that the most basic and well-known thing of Oppenheimer's field of excellence is the periodic table.

After some flexing, he references his sacrifice of Gamora in kind of a flex, which is very cold-hearted to do, he also used it for a very solid direct jab, saying, he's going to "off" Oppenheimer, which is an O-Alliteration.

Just some pretty basic flexing, but the change of flow here is noteworthy.

The Manhattan Project is the name of the Operation which was led by Oppenheimer. Also, Dr. Manhattan is a DC Character, although being a pretty damn powerful one, as Oppenheimer created a pretty damn powerful nuclear weapon.

Multiple references, but I kinda feel like calling someone a demigod for a dickjoke is a little bit of an own goal.

Wordplayed his opponent's Name, super disrespectful, and - again - emphasized his physical surperiority against Oppenheimer. Absolutely hilarious one.

He's calling Oppenheimer by his Nickname which friends and closer colleagues used, and having a nice Double Entendre for the word "stones", meaning both balls and the Infinity Stones.

Well, this one is another jab at Oppenheimer's gulit about the bomb and a bulid-up for the next entire line at the same time. Just some great writing, even though the amount of jabs at the same spot start to overdo it a little.

He really dug deep into Oppenheimer's personal life, since it's Not even that easy to find reliable source of all this.
Also, the very last line might be a reference to the fact that Oppenheimer's first serious Girlfriend Jean Tatlock died in 1940, where it's suspected that she commited suicide.

Out of the Gate, Oppenheimer uses what is the most known quote of his entire life. Right after the successful Test of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer quoted the "Bhagavad Gita", central piece of hinduism: "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

Oppenheimer just keeps bashing on the slow flow here, this time referencing the very simple-minded Drax, who's vision can be tricked by not moving.

Chain Reactions are what gets the fissile material in an atomic bomb going. He now distances from dissing Thanos' Flow, flexing about his own lyrical abilities instead.

Thanos' Race indeed is one of immortals. Upon being born, his mother feared that Thanos would be trying to destroy all life in the universe. Only His father could save him from this attempted murder.

Oppenheimer was indeed considered one of the leading physicists in the world, even before working on the Manhattan Project.
"Now I'm here to split U like two and three from five"
U235 stands for the isotope Uranium 235, which is the one used in the atomic bomb.
Also, Splitting the atom is the way to initiate the explosion of the bomb. What a great Line to Nerd on.

Oppenheimer emphasizes the fact that the mere creation of the bomb was his job, not the way it was used. Also, the way of saying that Thanos' plan failed references the outcome of Thanos being defeated in Marvel, falling to dust.

Mainly a line to flex again, but referencing Balance for that one is a shot at Thanos' cause of action, restoring balance in the universe.
Thanos II:
"For a communist pariah, you come off as awfully cocky"
Oppenheimer was alleged to have connections to communists after war, which ultimately caused him to lose security clearance and his job for the US-Government.
"But I'll make you bend the knee in round two like Nagasaki"
Nagasaki was where the second atomic bomb got dropped, ultimately causing japan to surrender in the war.
"I'm the box office topper, the Marvel showstopper
Got my name on this win like it's the Thanoscopter"
I gotta say, that's kind of a weird flex for someone who has the Infinity Gauntlet, can literally create Plasma energy, and all that. Also, the Storyline around Thanos was part of what got Marvel as big as it is now, so it's not really a show stopper.

Even weirder flex, didn't age well at all since Fortnite had a hype phase but is far more irrelevant than other accomplishments Thanos had in his life.
"I will Loki choke you out like my name was Throat Cancer"
That was a sick bar with multiple points to address.
First, we all know, Thanos choked Loki to death.
Second, Oppenheimer indeed died of Throat Cancer, so Thanos calls himself the cause of Oppenheimers death.
Third, "Loki" is a double entendre here, also meaning "low-key". Throat Cancer's spreading slowly causes the breathing flow to decrease, ultimately killing by choking the person.
Oppenheimer II:
"You wanna talk about Death?
How about the one that looked at you and swiped left?"
Oppenheimer immediately responds to Thanos' last line, making "Death" a double entendre. In Marvel, Death is a female character who Thanos was deeply in love with, but who had absolutely no interest in him, favoring Deadpool instead. "Swiping left" is what you do when you're uninterested in someone.
What a line!
"I'm the destroyer of worlds
You got your nuts handed to you by a Squirrel Girl"
Oppenheimer finishes his own quote here which he started with "I am become deaf" in his first part. Then he proceeds to roast Thanos for the way he got beat by Squirrel Girl (who, to be fair, did beat some pretty insane villains by herself). Getting his nuts handed to is just a fitting way of describing getting defeated miserably.
"We're in the endgame now, Tinky Winky"
Oppenheimer references Thanos' purple skin color by calling him the purple teletubbie.
"I'll finish this like Ant-Man, all up in your stinky"
One huge fanmade thesis is that Ant-Man could beat Thanos by himself with shrinking himself, crawling into Thanos' Body and expanding inside of it. This line does reference that Thesis.
"Anyone who believes that 'Thanos did nothing wrong' crap

Oppenheimer just drops the mic with that one. Some people argue that Thanos actually does the right thing, balancing out the human race. He flips that arguement with saying that even if Balancing the human race is the right thing, his rapping absolutely isn't, and the "Oh snap" in the end is intended to finish the battle as intense as Thanos' snap is.
In boxing terms Thanos was a slugger, he was very slow but when his punches hit they were pretty hard. Unfortunately a few of his swings missed.

However she never loved him back and even during the IG despite doing exactly as she asked, killing half the universe, she refused to speak to him because of how he did it and became so much more powerful than herself.
