I wish the present German army retained the Prussian tradition. I'm not German, but I keep searching for footages of the old German military. Every detail about them is captivating.

Das Gewehr 98 als längere Variante gegenüber dem K98K zusammen mit dem Bajonett sieht viel besser aus. Und der Stahlhelm 1916 zusammen mit der Unifom sehen auch deutlich besser aus als heute

The Franco-Prussian War saw the unification of Germany. The French did not want this to happen and interfered in German affairs when Germany asked them not to do so. Germany wanted no war with France. Bismarck actually plead with the French but they continued meddling in German affairs even attacking across into German territory. Bismarck had enough and defeated the French, taking Paris. I would say Bismarck's mistake was taking Alacace and Lorraine and making the French pay reparations for the war. Bismarck's actions embarrassed the French and scared the British. It also caused the French and British to unite against Germany out of fear. It was clear Germany had the best military in Europe. It also put fear into Russia as well. In my opinion, embarrassing the French military and taking what was their land was enough. As we now know, this was one of the reasons World War I War was fought. Then, of course, World War II. All because the major powers fear of Germany and, to an extent, today.😢

The GDR's Nationale Volksarmee (NVA) was the last army with Prussian military tradition. Look at the parades from the 80s on RUclips and you'll see. They were the Red Prussians.
The steps during the march past are low because according to the 1906 prussian drill manual, the soldiers should raise their foot below the knee so the soldier won't be stressed and pressured upon marching past. The wehrmacht and the NVA have their steps raised above the knee.

In the first and second world war the german army was the best by quality.But in both cases the number of their enemies were too many.And usually their allies, like in the first world war the Austrian -Hungarian Monarchy was not as strong, as Germany.
