Every now and then, in all sports, an athlete combines physical promise, with superior work ethic and mental toughness. These are the men and women who become legends. Respect.
Rich is like the FITNESS GOD , High Respect bro , U prove that ur not blessed ur Achieved everything with ur HARDWORK !!!!!!! Ur UNSTOPPABLE and UNBEATABLE!!!!!
All these people complaining.. lmao. It's a sport. Yeah normal people probably should not perform pull ups like that, and it's definently not the most effective for muscle growth, possibly muscle endurance it could improve though, and full body functionality (using core to complete the pull up). But bottom line you are not a crossfit athlete, so be amazed by Rich's super humanness and move on! And honestly these workouts will only hurt you if you do not stretch properly before and after. These are great muscle functionality exercises.
Yeah lots of people love to hate CrossFit. Makes sense since CrossFit stands for generalization as opposed to specialization and people tend to love specialists. It's slowly changing though and not just in the fitness world.
That guy next to rich who is tatted didn't get a single rep on the pull ups he never got even close to getting his chin over the bar that shit wouldn't fly in my box. Rich is getting his full head over the bar
I'm sure if Rich was competing with other elite CrossFitters, his time would've been about 10 seconds faster. He didn't even look that winded and took his time doing the burpees. What a beast.
Because it's now about building a wide back. It's about doing work and moving the body. Sometimes they regular pullups; sometimes they do kipping. A lot of the movements tie in to each other in some way. Kipping pullups are similar to the muscle-ups.
I forgot about that, thank you. Yeah that looks right; the plate that Rich Froning is holding appears to be the second one of the pair that gets put on after the thruster's are completed ... pause at 0:57
I was a triathlete, powerlifter and bodybuilder and still find crossfit to be the hardest of them all.. with powerlifting being the easiest to train for. The only thing that came close for me to crossfit is that sprint training drill when you sprint 50m, walk back and sprint again 10 times. Triathlons can be very hard when the conditions are bad but to get good you don't need to train the stuff that you don't like or find the hardest every day till you drop to the floor.
I personally prefer strict pullups, but I can understand doing kipping. It's like doing pushups as opposed to say bench; you can do a lot more of them, but it elicits a much higher cardio response with high reps. Crossfit does have Wods with strict pullups, but usually not in competition.
i dont know if this might be true, but i think it is because Crossfit is mostly about full body movements, and by using momentum during pull-ups you involve your core and body way more than isolating the single muscle groups during normal pull-ups, i feel that my body is more involved when doing "cross fit pull-ups" than just doing normal pull-ups :)
Yeah. I'm not one of those kids who passionatly hates crossfit, but it defintaly has its gray areas. The burpees were extremely soft, but theres no offical rule that says you can't do that. And when they were doing the pullups, it looks like the guy next to Froning wasn't going all the way up. But they just give you credit for them.
congratulation, you have managed to over see the meaning of my post which was to get people to stop arguing over which exercise is better.... to you crossfit may have bin the hardest but to someone els boxing may be the hardest. this wasn't about which exercise is harder this was about getting people to stop hating on each others craft.... -____-
I love reading comments about "kipping" from people who obviously have never tried them or they would realize how stupid their comments sound. It's equivalent to watching a video of someone sprinting 100 meters and then commenting "Why did he "run" so fast, he should have used strict form lunges to isolate the quads." Just like a sprint, a WOD is often for TIME!
Rich exhibited humility through all of his movements. Just a focus to get it done. No pain face, no screaming, no aggressive enthusiasm. He was in task mode. This is why he wins.
While it's true that it is unbroken technically, you should never try to "catch" the weight from a clean etc, it can blow out your back. (I did it and it sucks the big one.), Froning was absolutely correct in dropping the weight from waist high, which is Olympic standard.
How are those Cleans unbroken?...Not saying they're bad, just not unbroken as you say in the description. I'm gonna try this WOD next week I think, looks fun!
I hate it when people criticize form when it comes to crossfit, in a real life situation would you actually bitch about shitty form or just get it done, whatever the situation may be. really!
i dont think the pull ups are fair, the guy that beat right to the bar doesnt put his chin above the bar, when rich puts half his head above the bar, one is harder than the other
No, if it were 'technically' unbroken he never would have let go of the bar. And I'm pretty sure he can handle catching 135lbs from his shoulders, as can most elite crossfitters.
For all of you haters, Froning could do any of your workouts at an extremely high level. You couldn't do 25% of his workout. So keep hating. You may bench more, squat more, and clean more but you have to take 5 minutes in between your reps as you look at yourself in the mirror, wondering if anybody else is looking at your 3 sets in 20 minutes. While your waiting, he's already finished his workout, showered, and walking out the door with the good looking chick that you'll never get. Hate away bro
Obviously, because it is not easily judged. When would you say there was too much swinging involved, therefore no rep, and how much swinging is allowed to be within perfect form parameters?? So they make it more reps, say the chin needs to be above the bar and go, easily seen, easily judged, no unfairness.
I swear some people just troll crossfit videos to bitch about kipping pull ups to wind crossfitters up. And cos they have nothing better to do with their lives. Dont rise to it, dont feed the trolls.
Oh jonjon...you can't be serious. I came across this video and had to comment. Homeboy next to Froning is about as "legal" on his pull-ups as your camera angle excuse. Watch in slow motion from 1:55 - 2:20 when pencil head is going head to head w/Froning. You can see miles of daylight between his chin and the bar...then look at Froning's..not so much. Camera angle?? Really?? I'm going to have to agree with an earlier comment about homeboy..."not a single pull-up was done that day"
google translate=funny: How much would you have spent time on the consistent implementation of an exercise program consisting of: 1) 50 attacks with 25 kg of a pancake on his head at arm's length, 2) 40 pull-ups, 3) 30 emissions (a combination of the squat and bench press over his head) 50 pound barbell, 4) 20 Burpoe, 5) 10 of takes 50 kg barbell chest full saddle? Rich Froning champion CrossFit spent on it for 5 minutes and 32 seconds!!
Every now and then, in all sports, an athlete combines physical promise, with superior work ethic and mental toughness. These are the men and women who become legends. Respect.
Chose the 540 for my first crossfit WOD. Finished in 11:36
Definitely a great workout that I'll be working every Monday! Thanks for the video

Agreed, no crossfit hate. but that were no reps
DieEkte EkteSkereDroeftoeter *broreps
DieEkte EkteSkereDroeftoeter haha I'm not hating either I compete in CrossFit but those were bro reps trying to keep up with the champ
This guy never ceases to amaze me!
I'm sure if Rich was competing with other elite CrossFitters, his time would've been about 10 seconds faster. He didn't even look that winded and took his time doing the burpees. What a beast.
My knees hurt just watching him do those thrusters and squat cleans.
Respect to rich froning im new to this crossfit thing
the music is shine down!..awesome workout tunes
Because it's now about building a wide back. It's about doing work and moving the body. Sometimes they regular pullups; sometimes they do kipping. A lot of the movements tie in to each other in some way. Kipping pullups are similar to the muscle-ups.

He was clearly taking it easy! Under real pressure I reckon he could take a minute off that time!!!
For everyone, the first song is: Stellar revival - the crazy ones
I personally prefer strict pullups, but I can understand doing kipping. It's like doing pushups as opposed to say bench; you can do a lot more of them, but it elicits a much higher cardio response with high reps. Crossfit does have Wods with strict pullups, but usually not in competition.

Incredible pace!
Tremendous physical strength.途方もない体力に驚く。ジムの雰囲気もいい!

Wow that was wicked fast it almost made me sock when he was blowng through those thrusters
in description it says"almost every move was unbroken" read the description before you start crying buddy. rich and 540 guys great jobs as always!
Thank god it's ref everywhere in the games
Cool. A bunch of people that are good at working out. Cool......
I love reading comments about "kipping" from people who obviously have never tried them or they would realize how stupid their comments sound. Song is Crazy Ones by Stellar Revival...
Exciting! Great job!
Thanks
Rich is so unreal
Cara é fera no Pull Up!!
dude next to rich doing the pull-ups "Not a single pull-up was done that day"
That burpee jump...
Yeah, I noticed that - he was trying to push that chin up, but not quite there.
Dude next to Rich almost never got his chin over the bar on those pullups.
Rich exhibited humility through all of his movements. Just a focus to get it done. No pain face, no screaming, no aggressive enthusiasm. He was in task mode. This is why he wins.
I think they use the kipping pullup as a conditioning exercise rather than a strict strength/mass building one.
Crossfit is about functional movements. That's why they do kipping exercises.
While it's true that it is unbroken technically, you should never try to "catch" the weight from a clean etc, it can blow out your back. (I did it and it sucks the big one.), Froning was absolutely correct in dropping the weight from waist high, which is Olympic standard.
Not a single pull-up from the guy to Rich's right.. If you can't do butterflys correctly go back to straight kipping..
Just walkin in the park.
The beast
I'm in this video!
holy shit thank you so much really appreciate it man
Great!!!world record!!
I understand your point, but these are proper form kipping pullups, it's a different exercise!
some workouts do call for strict pull ups. most don't. why? because you get more work done with the butterfly or gymnastics kip. simple as that.
Beast!!
How are those Cleans unbroken?...Not saying they're bad, just not unbroken as you say in the description. I'm gonna try this WOD next week I think, looks fun!
WORD
the song sounds awesome! anyone know what song it is?
This looks so fun! What weight did they use for the thrusters and cleans?
how about the wheight on the clean and thurstes...???
what is the name of the song in the begining of the video?
I hate it when people criticize form when it comes to crossfit, in a real life situation would you actually bitch about shitty form or just get it done, whatever the situation may be. really!

based on the top comments im assuming "the guy next to rich" is that dudes real name
95lb thruster 135lb clean i believe
Someone please tell me this song i want to run to it while i crossfit and run for wrestling
Crazy lvl
what is actual song name i know they are the band.thanks so much
5:52, Froning removes his shirt just to prove a point. As if to say, "Don't you know who I am?!"
Yeah? Do the same workout with those "momentum ups" bro. Lets see how far you get. :)
What are the weights used? I'd like to try this.
I guess thats true. And the OH lunges @ 20 Kg or ~ 45 lbs, right?
For all of you haters, Froning could do any of your workouts at an extremely high level. You couldn't do 25% of his workout. So keep hating. You may bench more, squat more, and clean more but you have to take 5 minutes in between your reps as you look at yourself in the mirror, wondering if anybody else is looking at your 3 sets in 20 minutes. What is the clean weight in this? Wanna try this WOD myself
And the weight for thrusters
what are the weight for this wod please? thx
not arguing, simply in-lighting you... :)
getting very inspired, anyone know the name of the first song? :)
Read Crossfit540's reply to my comment. He changed the description. Better luck next time.
whats up with the kipping on the pullups?
But crossfit will 100% help people every sport. Bodybuilding just makes individual muscles bigger.
Obviously, because it is not easily judged. When would you say there was too much swinging involved, therefore no rep, and how much swinging is allowed to be within perfect form parameters??
So they make it more reps, say the chin needs to be above the bar and go, easily seen, easily judged, no unfairness.
and what about the LUNGES?
Looking at the plates I am going to guess the weight:
Thrusters @ 40Kg or ~ 90lb
Cleans @ 60Kg or ~ 135lb
Anyone think anything different?
finished in 9:30something.
I swear some people just troll crossfit videos to bitch about kipping pull ups to wind crossfitters up. And cos they have nothing better to do with their lives. Dont rise to it, dont feed the trolls.
"ALMOST every move was unbroken"
song?
I just wish he could have taken another 8 seconds and do the 540 in 5:40...
а откуда инфа? не тяжеловато он приседает с 43-мя то?
It's about cardio and strength I think, you?
Hi guys, what is the RX ?
It means, you do WOD as prescribed, no modifications.
45# plate lungs
95# thrusters
135# cleans
FYI...... I know the lab that sells Rich Froning and many other athletes testosterone suspension and anavar.
Oh jonjon...you can't be serious. I came across this video and had to comment. Homeboy next to Froning is about as "legal" on his pull-ups as your camera angle excuse. He is over its just the camera angle. All that ahs to clear is the chin, hence he tips it up...for crossfit its legal
The name 540 is because you should complete it in less than 5:40?
google translate=funny:
How much would you have spent time on the consistent implementation of an exercise program consisting of: 1) 50 attacks with 25 kg of a pancake on his head at arm's length, 2) 40 pull-ups, 3) 30 emissions (a combination of the squat and bench press over his head) 50 pound barbell, 4) 20 Burpoe, 5) 10 of takes 50 kg barbell chest full saddle? Rich Froning champion CrossFit spent on it for 5 minutes and 32 seconds!!
"Dude NEXT to Rich"...And tbh if any of my athletes did half pull-ups I'd No Rep them.
I get a better workout doing kipping pull ups than I do strict.
Try it. Go do "Angie" and tell me how it goes.
43кг на выбросах, 61кг на взятиях
Why was i sure he will take off his shirt at the end? lol
Lol. Id do it in 50 min 30 sec. I got some training to do
you've got jokes too! even cuter!
I swear so
