As a veteran splatoon player too, it’s so hard to shake off the habit of checking every nook and cranny for sunken scrolls, etc.

Yeah, I checked nearly every spot in the first few levels, only to realize in Alterna, that the collectibles are in the hub world, not the levels. But honestly, I think it’s a nice change.

I know he won't see this but it was explained why the ink was sparkly in Splatoon 2 hero mode
Since Callie was with the Octarians, she added glitter to their ink and decorated the place with stickers and banners and stuff. It's in one of the Sunken Scrolls there, actually.

I always thought that it was because the ink in hero mode was real and could actually kill other inklings and octolings while in online mode it was fake ink that could send you back to spawn but wouldn’t kill you

the reason little buddy glows when you throw him is because he can distract enemies. you can throw him to get octosnipers and stuff to focus on him instead of you

Just recently beat the Story Mode. My god what an experience it was! Can’t wait to continue watching JayMoji play through it
The targets on items are just to let you know that they're there. It pops up when you get close enough, so you can see it through walls if you still get close enough
I can’t wait to see your reactions to everything. Bosses and just plain old levels + stuff that happens. (Vague as possible to avoid spoilers) this is really something everyone ought to be able to experience spoiler-free as I did- it’s so worth it to have avoided the spoilers
In case anyone was wondering, yes, you do stay as an Octo in story mode, literally screamed "Rude!" at Cuttlefish when he started going off about the octarians. 😂 Hopefully this helps me get through a few stages I'm stuck on 😭
The ink in Splatoon 2’s story mode was sparkly because of Callie’s input and makeover of the Octarians

I started story mode as an Octoling. You just keep whatever form you enter Story Mode in. It’s awesome.
When you have done everything in story mode, i mean EVERYTHING, you can feel their excitement for the ending. (I finished story mode with all weapons used as well as a secret too.) But have fun too.

19:59 It was implied that Callie was behind the sparkly ink, in the sunken scrolls she wrote that she convinced the Octarians to spice up their base with stickers, tape, paint, and glitter!
I know Jaymoji won’t see this but yes you do stay an octo for the story mode. I’d assume you’re fighting octarians bc these guys are similar to the sanitised octarians in octo expansion.

As much as I love exploration in games, I was honestly relieved when I caught on to the fact that the levels don't have the Sunken Scrolls in them. It allowed me to actually enjoy all the levels instead of constantly worrying about finding a scroll.
I didn't concern myself with finding them. It was more like "if I find them, I find them.", especially if I come across them naturally while looking for a solution or path forward or they are not far out of the way.
Hey jay when you finish the story mode do you think you’ll want to speed run it again? Just think sooner we do it higher you’ll be. Loving the game so far dude and we’ll here with you every step of the way

since i was so hyped, i speedran through the levels (yes you can skip, i managed to do min 1 per world) and it is so incredible. i am so excited. now i am playing through all the levels and unlocking everything and it is just so fun

I COMPLETED the solo campaign in less than 48 hours, and I loved it SO MUCH!

playing storymode as an octoling is such an experience I tell you, one or the other characters will go "get those octojerks!!" or a level will say "Octarians in the Crater?! YIKES!!!" and I'd have my character, an octoling, just slowly turn around

I legitimately had no clue that the option to change the captain's look was even a thing. I completely missed it on my playthrough. Thankfully you can go back and change it after the fact though.

Actually the reason you have to be a squid for splat 2's story mode is because in the series of events, Octo Canyon happens just before or at the same time as Octo Expansion, so at the time there weren't any Octolings in Inkopolis! They hadn't integrated yet
World building is fun
Jaymojis store gives him sunglasses,a legitimately cool thing that you can use OUTSIDE to show off that you own the game, while I get a key chain.
There are so many things to talk about in this story and I can't wait to see the rest of the playthrough

I was glad to find out I could play as my Octoling in Hero Mode, it made me happy :)
I am not giving any spoilers about the antagonist I am just giving my guess and the reasons why. So my guess is that Mr. Grizz is the antagonist because you have a small fry little buddy,the octarians have furr like bears, and D.J Octavio does not have the zap fish,( don’t read this next part if you don’t want spoilers) and one of the bosses is a bear.

I legit just beat the story mode yesterday, I must say this story mode was so wacky and surreal but it was amazing nonetheless. The actual story was nothing like what i expected.
I played the game as an octo. I can confirm nothing changes, nobody even acknowledged the fact that your an octo.
Also fun fact : If you have played Splatoon 2 Octo expansion, Ex-Agent 3 will automatically take the apparence that you gave them in the DLC but you can still change it with the drawing.
The stream thing that always happens to me because I want to see the whole thing not just little snip bits so this is really good

Nintendo really did pull the ultimate uno reverse card by making the first 4 levels so different to the rest then just gave us that plot twist.
