I don't entirely agree, you don't lose that many fish depending on barbed and barbless, in fact for such a hard mouth that tarpon have a barbless hook seems the more practical, as it won't have as much resistance to piercing the mouth with the barb, like gar for example, their mouths are entirely bone and you will have a lot more luck actually setting the hook while using barbless.
Nice, if you were making this for tarpon for someone else or even you I wouldn’t go barbless. Tarpon are masters at getting unhooked
