It is not only the poses and more aggressive movements of the actor that tells the anger of the demon, the color and length of the horns also says a lot, the redder the mask and longer the horns means the spirit is more demonic, inversely the whiter it gets and the shorter the horns indicates a minor demon or something of the like
Kurozuka is my favourite Noh play. I'm no expert, but when I learnt some of the basics of Noh theatre, a few pointers about acting, / dancing, mask making, stage setting , music, etc. I really started appreciating the plays much more and this one is really amazing !!! 👺
The Kabuki play about this story is just amazing. It is one of the best kabukis I have seen, and it definitely is one of my favourites, because of the incredible performance of the actor playing the old lady, Ichikawa Ennosuke III. In the kabuki (which has the same naem as this Noh play, "Koruzuka"), the music composed by Kinea Sakichi IV and the acting of Ichikawa Ennosuke is just the perfect combination to create a masterpiece. I have watched it in the Patreon of Kabuki Preservation Society, but maybe it can also be found online elsewhere
This is not kabuki, Kabuki And Noh are different types of performances, one thing you might see that’s different in kabuki is that they use makeup, Noh on the other hand uses masks that may be frightening, also Noh plays are more spiritual and religious
This is my first time enjoying your RUclips channel. Great work! I’m looking forward to more great content from you. Thank you so much for this informative video! I got so much out of it.
Their voices are so beautiful... and freightening! This felt like a horror movie toward the end
You should watch the kabuki play of this story, the one with music of Kinea Sakichi IV and main role of Ichikawa Ennosuke III. It's just mesmerizing
Indeed! Very relaxing

This is surprisingly terrifying! The story telling and the music was astounding. It definitely makes me appreciate Japanese theatre even more.
I love this art of the great Japan and all their ancient traditions. Best regards from Spain ❤

Loved the movement, you can see how much practice went into the performance
So much talent and discipline.

@@Youvspp I have not said that this is kabuki, I have compared this noh play with its kabuki version
@@Maatkara1000 aa ok
How do you feel about the scene overlooking Fukushima? Amazing.
Thank you for translating the action! I was riveted!
I love Noh..I am fascinated by it❤
Woah cool! Can anyone explain to me why the actors never lift their feet while walking on stage? The rhythms in this play are simply splendid!
Yes Suri-Ashi is the technique you’re describing, where the actors slide their feet to walk instead of lifting them.

Noh stages are designed to be extremely resonant, so if you walk normal all the audience can hear will be your footsteps.
Such a fabulous art/storytelling form
If only this had been filmed and edited by competent people
eerie and exciting. just beautiful ! thank you for sharing the experience.
能舞が好きな日本人でも、この映像は見たことがありません。
素晴らしい。
Can someone give me an explanation for the meaning of this play? Like i once heard that each Noh play is more than just a story, myth or legend...
There was a reference to This in the Kurosawa film throne of blood
Just watched it last night and happened upon this today!
“Throne of Blood.”
Akira Kurosawa.

Блин, я хочу работать барабанщиком в их оркестре, возьмите меня в Ниихон
What’s the song at the end in the credits?
Hello everyone. I want to get detailed information about this university. Can a Japanese citizen send me a private message?
Can't blame the demon. They broke her trust when she gave them shelter. Of course if she had intended to kill them from the beginning different story.
Wow! Love it
El sintoismo japones da magia a todas sus ropa y explica la historia que parece mas mezclada pero menos fracasada que la versión humana
面白い日本文化🎌👍🙏

You’re right!
How can they keep a straight face? Tin of tuna strapped to the forehead?

Las aleta de pez también son alas de insecto plegadas
