Working in the cold is really tough, two things that I have learned that have helped me are fingerless gloves. From around December through March where I live, I work in temperatures around and below 0 C. So I wear a long sleeve shirt, under a normal shirt, then a hooded sweatshirt then a vest. Fingerless gloves, thick socks and boots and once I start moving around I stay warmed up because my torso stays warm. My endless supply of coffee helps too! Good video, thank you for sharing and keep at it!
Really love this piece . I think the words are health and happiness . I know what you mean about it being gloss finish, I think the Matt finish would have looked fab . Look after yourselves and keep the videos coming. I thought about doing RUclips videos on a few occasions, but I totally useless at technology wouldn’t know where to start, think I will stick to instagram 😂😂😂.
Well, there are times when a video is suggested, and I think I'll have a look. I'm really glad I did this time. Great project, and you have a new subscriber from South Wales.
@ I’m staying warm plenty of layers 🤣 I think we just get used to it after a while. It’s around March time over here things get a bit milder and start warming up
Watching you has given me so much more confidence to do more getting ready to build a Moxon vice thanks for doing what you do Billy it’s so hard watching some people’s videos they all assume that we all know all of the terms that they use. Your videos are just my level Billy the right level that we can learn together ❤
It really looks great! I love your project choices. I have been making all kinds of little projects for the last 4 months or so. I find that my interests are more in building the odd stuff. I am retired and a bit disabled so I struggle with layout work and center punch work as my seeing and balance is a bit off. Anyway I just can't stop trying to make things since my disability challenges. Your show and others keep me going. I live in the US. and watch the bearded viking all the time. I also like Matthew Peach's channel. I am presently taking his wood working coarse just to learn how to make some furniture type projects. My true interests are in doing my own little things though. Thanks for doing what you do, it truly inspires me.
Really imaginative build, excellent, I can see customers buying that so make some templates so you can easily make some copies. The only thing I'd suggest when spreading glue across wood, and especially on thin edges, use a brush or thin piece of wood or cardboard, using your fingers means mixing the glue with any oils from your skin, weakening the seal between the joints. Apart from that, brilliant.
Looks really smart mate, i might have a go at that myself. Im in the middle of making a wishing well for my old mum. Like you said it's cold just now -5 up here today, and as I have to do my projects outside, its taking me a bit longer than usual. Loving your work mate, take care 👍👍👍
I’m pretty sure you addressed the reason for the split, just the little predrill into the shelf and the split might have been avoided. And drilling closer to the center of the board might’ve also helped avoid the split. I’m no professional woodworker, just trying to pass along some info. Love the content Billy and keep up the great work & stay warm. My question for you is, what is the laser printer that you and Shelly (Shelley) used in the video?
Yes Billy looks very nice I put a dab of super glue and activator with normal glue on the shelf drys in seconds that way I can drill into the shelf before screwing it helps not to split I think it woz to close to one side yes I'd like to do vids but not got a cloo about editing I'll have to try with the phone first see haw it goes and ye it's fecking freezing in fallowfield as well
@thewoodjunki my ars I don't believe them I think we are still coming out of the iceage and thers nawt we can do about it I like your vids Billy to the point I've got issues with some youtubers putting stuff out you have pay monthly for not a big fan ov that I follow about 20 youtubers at £3 a pop thats £60 mmm
Well i have no idea what the symbols mean but i really like the shelf. I think it maybe you should have drilled a polit hole in the shelf to keep it from splitting. I could not see for sure, but it appeared the screw was not in the center if it which may have contributed to the split. Whatever caused it you did a fine repair and made it look great.
Yes I pilot holed through the board and not actually into the shelf and it was slightly off centre so that’s most likely the cause.. Symbols mean.. “good luck / fortune” and “well being / peaceful”
Looks awesome mate. Most of your builds do. Unfortunately I usually have to skip forward in the video a bit as you do tend to waffle on a bit. 😂 That being said, you keep being you and don’t take any notice of some random dude on the o the side of the planet.
Another great project and I hope those Chinese markings don't represent something awful or obscene 🙂 The reason the shelf split, my guess ..... I didn't see you pre-drilled the shelves (only the vertical pieces) and/or the screws went in to close to the edge of the shelf. But ....... we all can learn from otherone's mistakes.
No they don’t say obscenity stuff 🤣 I triple checked “good luck / fortune” and “well being / peaceful” Yes I didn’t pre drill the shelf.. I’ll know for next time though.. 👌
Cool shelf, maybe you didn’t hold your drill perfectly level when putting in the screws, or sometimes it’s just the grain of the wood that will make it split, could be many things, I’ve had it happen too

I’m absolutely useless at technology myself 👌 I found just give it a go approach is the way and never mind the mistakes.. 🤣 I’m also on Instagram 👌
I have thought about starting a RUclips channel, but I have the confidence in my skills as of yet.
Get a channel up & running and just do it.. you will gain confidence in a massive way.
1/2 years ago I’d never of done this. 👌
Well, there are times when a video is suggested, and I think I'll have a look. I'm really glad I did this time. Great project, and you have a new subscriber from South Wales.

Loving the channel Billy. One of the few channels where stuff is actually made. Hope you keep it going mate 👍
Thank you fella.. I’ll not be changing 👌
Good health and prosperity - I have no idea but I figured that's as good a guess as any. Love the shelf. I wouldn't be letting go of it either.
It’s already on one of our walls 🤣🤣👌
Love the project. After you glued the shelves on, go back and drill pilot holes into the shelves. That will help prevent splitting.
Cheers fella.. yes I should have done that . “Lesson learned 👌
That is one fancy looking shelf! Good recovery on the mistake. They happen.
Great job on that project!
Cheers fella, a really simple build and it looks so cool (in my own opinion).
@ I agree! It looks really sharp! Btw here in San Antonio Texas it’s in the low 40s Fahrenheit but with a very brisk breeze. Stay warm where you are
@ I’m staying warm plenty of layers 🤣 I think we just get used to it after a while.
It’s around March time over here things get a bit milder and start warming up
I think it looks terrific! 👍👍 I love the way the stain turned out too.
Thank you that’s appreciated 👌

I’m hungry now fella and I really need to stay away from food 🤣
Great work. I love the lines. Thanks for keeping in the problems. Nice to see how other people deal with issues.
Thank you 👌 I’ve not had one project yet where everything went perfect 🤣
Really imaginative build, excellent, I can see customers buying that so make some templates so you can easily make some copies. Love it
Thank you 👌

Loving your work mate, take care 👍👍👍
Yes where I work is basically outside and bitterly cold 🥶 nothing is drying 🤣
I’m pretty sure you addressed the reason for the split, just the little predrill into the shelf and the split might have been avoided. My question for you is, what is the laser printer that you and Shelly (Shelley) used in the video?
Thank you yes I should have pre drilled the shelf and it was slightly off centre.
The laser is a xtool F1 (excellent and easy)
What 8s the laser you use? Is it user friendly? Great video again.
Thank you… the laser is a x tool f1
Easy to use after a bit of trial & error. Loads of videos on RUclips about them
Yes Billy looks very nice
I put a dab of super glue and activator with normal glue on the shelf drys in seconds that way I can drill into the shelf before screwing it helps not to split I think it woz to close to one side yes I'd like to do vids but not got a cloo about editing I'll have to try with the phone first see haw it goes and ye it's fecking freezing in fallowfield as well
I ain’t got a clue about editing fella 🤣
Everywhere is freezing we need some of that global warming everyone is banging on about
@thewoodjunki my ars I don't believe them I think we are still coming out of the iceage and thers nawt we can do about it
I like your vids Billy to the point I've got issues with some youtubers putting stuff out you have pay monthly for not a big fan ov that I follow about 20 youtubers at £3 a pop thats £60 mmm
Would self-tapping screws maybe have prevented that split?
I’m not sure if I’m honest.. I think probably pre drilling the shelf might of been better as some of the other comments have suggested 👌
Very nice shelf. You can't even tell that the shelf was messed up. I don't have any idea what those blocks say.
Thank you
“Good luck / fortune “
“Well being / peaceful”
According to a translation thing 🤣
Are the signs
No 6 Chow Mein
No 7 Spring Rolls
??
I’m hungry now

Yes I pilot holed through the board and not actually into the shelf and it was slightly off centre so that’s most likely the cause..
Symbols mean.. “good luck / fortune” and “well being / peaceful”
knowing what they mean makes the shelf even better.

Yes it was a pain but I sorted it 👌
