    I had the Kenmore Catalyst version and I loved that washer!!! I loved how it spun the soapy water through the clothes for a deep penetration on stains before the wash cycle begun!!! I wish they had these machines out today instead of the junk that they have now!!! Thanks for the video Matt and have a great weekend... Bob

      Hey Bob. Believe me, I agree. Today's machines are garbage and don't offer anything even remotely close to this.

  • @DADoESofTX

    The pause you mention in a partial-drain cool down is related to a mechanical timer running-out the remainder of the two-minute drain increment after the pressure switch resets. An electronic model doesn't have a mechanical timer with fixed increments, thus no need for the pause. You may also notice that this machine has (should have) variable-length drain periods per the fill level.

      @@MatthewJames-st5wv Motor shift from ex low speed to low speed for stepped-spin on Perm Press. A few other Whirlpool models had stepped spin. The pattern varies. I have a GSQ9669 which starts PP spin at low, then shifts to high. KitchenAid also did in the 1990s, maybe a bit earlier and longer. PP on my 1990 KA runs two mins at each of the three speeds on the final spin. Regular runs two mins of low, four mins of high. A 1994 KA my mother had followed the same pattern.

    Still never understood why Whirlpool direct drives never do a spray rinse on the first spin..some of the early direct drives do multiple spray rinses on the first spin but is on a slow spin..

    • @MatthewJames-st5wv
      @MatthewJames-st5wv  17 дней назад +2

      I know. This doesn't have the equivalent of Kenmore's "ultra rinse system" which does 2 spray rinses after the wash, then agitated rinse.

    • @seana806
      @seana806 17 дней назад +1

      @@MatthewJames-st5wv I mean, those are probably the only direct drives that had some thought out into them. Didn’t mean to be negative towards the direct drives in certain posts, it just really bothers me on how Whirlpool has all the resources and engineering at their disposal but chose to not do multiple spray rinses on the first spin, I know Bob (appnut) wasn’t too happy when he got his Kenmore direct drive in the late 80’s and always had the second rinse selected. It seems as though Whirlpool was two separate companies since Whirlpool put lots of thought into the belt drives since they do a grand total of 8 spray rinses on the older models, then it was like a switch flipped once the 80’s and 90’s came around. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a conspiracy all along to force people into front loading machines once the 21st century came around.

      @@seana806I found firsthand with my current Whirlpool direct drive that when it went into a suds lock AFTER the first spin spray rinse. The spray actually slowed the tub down. I can only imagine there was some thought as to why they chose that.

      This is the Whirlpool serial code:
      1st Digit: Where the appliance was manufactured. C = Clyde, OH, and so on. Most of them were either made in MI or OH.
      2nd Digit: Year of Manufacture. P is 2003
      3rd & 4th Digit: Week the washer was manufactured. 11 would mean 11th week of the year.
      So if your code is #P11##### then that would be correct, your machine was indeed made the 11th week (Mid march) of '03!
