- Team TaylorMade's Tommy Fleetwood is here to show you how he approaches hitting two types of chip shots to short-sided pins off a tight lie. Tommy first shows how to hit a low one that spins, and then a flop shot that stops on a dime using the TP5x pix golf ball from TaylorMade Golf.
How effortless did that lofted shot look. To land so close to the pin is awesome to watch..........just wish it was that easy for us average golfers. Tommy is a class act and so down to earth 👍
I'm eating chips while watching Tommy hit chips but I have a chip on my shoulder because I can't hit chips like Tommy hits his chips and now my chips are cold
your chips were always cold chipper
well it looks like you’re just…chip out of luck…
Wow you’re just the chip off the old block
"and that was a good example" classic Tommy understating the fact he has just chipped it within inches of the hole.
Great jam in the background while watching these chips.
I loved the stiff-armed chip shot. Very repeatable.
I’m sorry that was confusing - for the high shot: he’s keeping the club open, but eventually closes the club during the swing to make sure the face is square to the target? Wouldn’t that decrease loft again? 😵💫
I hear that he is not cutting across the ball, and he is not de.lofting the club when hitting. The angle will deloft slightly with it catching up the toe and heal but not alot and it's more that the club is moving round his body to make the ball fly straight. If he kept it at the same angle the ball would fly a little to the right.🙂
Need to remember what he feels he is doing vs what actually happens are two different things. Although he feels he is closing the face, he probably isnt in order to launch it that high
When you start with an open face and try to return it square it forces you to release the club with your right hand. This results in less forward shaft lean at impact which gives you loft. Counter intuitive but it works
Thank you
Well done Tommy 👏
Everyone saw the high one get close and will think that's the main answer. That's the shot I need to practice more of. Chip and runs have led to way more hole outs and chip ins. Even if not hit cleanly at times you're still closer than a flub high shot
True. He is a pro that is why I prefer to see these sort of lessons with an amateur who will make mistakes and not hit it consistently everytime
Help me out here. Open the face and swing towards the flag and it will go straight? I've always aimed left with a open face thinking that it will start right?
Where can you get this hat!?!? 🔥
Right when I open that face, I inevitably start thinking, "Ok, DON'T start thinking about sh**king it."
I'd like to know what club he's using??
what loft wedge was he using there
@@sham2468 thanks man!
If that is a short sided pin then I am Batman.
Best way to stop push slicing driver
This is my miss too, was working on this yesterday on the course. I find if I do a few practice half swings where I finish, club level, pointing the club forward with the face released (right hand as if I'm shaking someone's hand) that gets me the feel of the club face releasing through the ball. My miss is I get tense/tentative and a swing through the ball without my wrists releasing and get my normal in to out swing but the face is open so it's off the planet right. Also swinging with intention of getting to the finish position via that released handshake feel, rather than hitting AT the ball I find helps too. By no means an expert but this has helped me in the past.
Until he hit it, I thought he was going for the left pin. Never saw the right one lol
That’s a short sided pin?
Really appreciate the video but you never said what loft club your using from that distance. I have A 56 58 60 and 64. You could watch 20 videos and not 1 player will say what club loft hes using. Do you have to pay RUclips money to say what club loft your using.
Don’t give up your day job, T
Don’t care what number comment this is
Regardless, you’re in the top 10. Fine job, good sir.
Some amateur out there is gonna be out there lining to his damn wedge to his toes before he shanks it. So annoying.
Says 10 comments but i count 11 😠
And not 1 person cares
