What a singer and what musicians ....take a bow the lit of you ...breathtaking ....the guys in that orcastra can't believe it ....they can't stop smiling .....I simply love it ! I was brought up on this music and after 50 years it's now getting the recognition it deserves .....keep the faith ......😁
I don't care what the "purists" or soul police say, this was a fantastic night. Uplifting music with great lyrics, performed live with a full orchestra and great voices. It was what music was made for. Giving people a good time and making them enjoy themselves. Surely that's what it's all about?
So exited to see the tour in London tomorrow night - 25th April, 2024. This at the Proms was magical and really enjoyed, seeing in the flesh tomorrow going to be brilliant. KEEP THE FAITH x
Absolutely fantastic, what a night. We imported some Northern soul to the capital. Lots of memories of my youth. Congratulations to the BBC. About time, they got something spot on 😊.
I've mentioned in other comments on here, but I encourage everyone to listen to the Radio 3 coverage of the prom. Georgia Mann's commentary and enthusiasm is really great and plus you 2 & ½ bonus tracks in the interval. What you don't get to hear is when you hear Georgia end with "That's a wrap! and with that will hand you back to Broadcasting House." The plummy announcer say's "That is INDEED a wrap!", Mentioned something about that's the 1st time a Proms over ran then went to introduce "The New Music Show". It sounded like when you had Adrian Cronauer handed over to Dan Levitan in the movie "Good Morning Vietnam". 🤣 Quite surreal but funny though! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@@deanjames2476 Of course the Americans got it. They invented R&B and Soul. This type of music was popular across the nation, primarily via Motown. But Northern Soul features songs from smaller labels that didn't chart well or fell between the cracks. There were a lot of groups vying for attention back then. Thankfully the Brits zeroed in on these songs and breathed new life into them.
Northern Soul is showcased in Blackpool, every year, out front of the Tower, and on the comedy carpet.also in the Winter Gardens ballroom...Blackpool...@@Brian_Boru
To the bloke that shouted "KEEP THE FAITH!" before they started this one, Respect! 👍
