Yea they did. Since this was only a resole, they should have been more careful with removing the old sole. It would have been great for them to show us how they fixed that area. Hopefully they did fix it. Otherwise, the customer will be flexing their boots with a hole in them in that spot. I'm surprised the customer didn't want their soles stitched either. I hope that one spot will last them long enough.
@@876mpr Yea they meant the stitchdown portion is being ripped away at 1:40. They probably fixed it though. Also, Nicks Boots resoles stitchdown boots all the time. They are resolable as long as that stitchdown "welt" area (I know it's a flared out area of the uppers turning into a welt.) is in good shape, then the boots can be resoled. I do know it has limited resoles being a stitchdown construction, because sanding that area (when the soles are put on) will make the width of that "welt" a little bit skinnier. Also, it can be hard to stitch in the same holes with the Rapid E stitcher. So it's possible for new holes to be punched in. It's not ideal I know. And that area can turn into swiss cheese with new holes being punched in.
I have a pair of handmade Frank's I bought about 5 years ago. They're awesome to look at and built like tanks but I was never able to wear them since they came about 1/8" too short. I tried to break them in but it was very clear that that would never happen. Does Nicks resize boots? If I sent them to you would you be able to lengthen them? They do have a safety toe.
If they can, they'd have to replace the vamp (where your toes are) area of the boots, in order to lengthen your boots. Then they'd relast them to get them in the proper shape and size for you.
1:40 - 1:45 Ooof welt tearing from the upper 😱
sole stitching?
That sole that got ripped off looked brand new.
They did this for fun. The video description says:

Thank you , you're doing a great job 👍🏼
At 1:40ish you rip the leather upper at the welt

It’s actually a stitch down construction. Not really sure why it’s being resoled to begin with.
