    26,420 actual miles. This survivor looks like a restored show car! It functions like new: the air is ice cold, the horns sound like a train, its quiet as a mouse in slippers. The Fleetwood Sixty Special Brougham was the epitome of Cadillac excellence. Its longer wheelbase made for a roomy interior and a ride that felt like it was on air.
    EXTERIOR: The original metal is outstanding. No rust, damage, dents, or scrapes. Original Willow paint is amazing considering it's claimed to be original. I could only find a few insignificant flaws. in great condition. It has a smooth, shiny finish. All the chrome and trim are sparkling and straight. The original white vinyl top is excellent. The glass is crystal clear. The original weatherstrips and seals are still soft. Replaced dual stripe tires look classy.
    INTERIOR: It is practically like new throughout. It's like sitting in 1st class, especially in back with the carpeted footrests. The upholstery, plastic trim, carpet, headliner is like new. It's not worn, stained, smelly, torn or cracked. All the interior lights work, the Brougham has reading lights in back. It has original floor mats. The dash area is mint. Seatbelts are like new. The original owner's manuals are in the glovebox. It is full of power accessories.
    ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original condition and its clean. The big 472 V8 runs smooth and quiet. All the hoses, stickers and components are in place. The horns sound like a freight train, the cruise control works, washers are hooked up.
    TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The power trunk release works. It looks brand new! Under the trunk lid and jamb are mint. The wall-to-wall carpet liner is mint. Original spare and jack are in place. An extra hubcap and a new car cover is included.
    UNDERSIDE: All original. Never had an aftermarket undercoat. Solid with some surface rust.
    This is one of the cleanest survivors I have ever seen! It functions as good as it looks too.

    Started my service career at the local Cadillac dealership in 1974. This car represents extremely well the one or two year old Cadillacs we had coming in for service or that were sitting on the front row of the used car lot. Beautiful car Jay, and I have fond memories of the quality and how they drove.

    What a gorgeous example of this fine luxury vehicle from the early 70s. I rode in cars like this as a child, only 6 years old. Reminds me of my childhood. Unmatched luxury. You feel safe in something this big and heavy. Wish I could own it.

As you stated, the most extreme in comfort such as Cadillac and Lincoln offered in this era. I would have no reservations with starting to California and back in this one. As for pricing, where would you find a car to equal this for quality today for this kind if money? Great colors in and out ..... This gentleman couldn't have spec'd it out with better taste. There was no speed limit back then. He purchased a new Cadillac every five years until 2007. Great cars with the exception of the 1982 with the HT4100 V8. I remember driving his 1972 when I got my license, it would do burnouts for a mile.

    I've owned four 1972 Fleetwoods and this is a beautiful example. A few things I noticed: The rub strips along both sides of the car are replacements -- not original. (The originals had a rubber inlay the same color as the roof that ended in a point ahead of the taillights. These rub strips seem to be covered with white tape.) The passenger side outside mirror was a dealer install -- the factory version would have a remote joystick to the right of the radio. (And that's the bare-bones, three-speaker monaural AM-FM unit -- not stereo.) It's unusual for a Fleetwood in not having the fiber-optic lamp monitors on the front fenders and rear package shelf. Beginning Jan. 1, 1972 they became optional equipment, in an effort to bring the sticker price down in an era of price controls and high inflation. And lastly, the fabric windlace molding along the rear edge of the driver door opening is extremely frayed -- unusual for a car with such low mileage. Also I wonder if at some point this car had at least a partial respray. It looks like there's paint on the driver side lower rear quarter molding. Also, the front seats are not "power on each side" (8:16). The passenger side seat has the manual adjuster:

    Für mich die schönste Cadillac Limousine. Mein identisches Fahrzeug in dunkelgrün metallic mit grünem Vinyldach st leider nach aufwendiger Restaurierung in unsere Halle neben 18 anderen Fahrzeugen verbrannt.

      No they are not vogues, they are called royal seals. They were alternatives to the vogue tires back in the day

    The particular body side moldings appearing on this car, running from just aft of the front wheel arches, across the doors, across the rear quarter side marker lights, and ending just forward of the taillights are not original to this car.
    These cars left the factory with body side molding, but they were a different style.
    I can only speculate as to why this car’s body side moldings were removed and replaced. The moldings I see on this car look good, but they are not original.

      I've been a Cadillac buff since these were new. I've been following them and pricing since then too. I even have a few of my own. You're pretty much in the ballpark at 18.
      People have to realize that if they actually plan to drive this car, because he said it it has all the original hoses, belts, etc. they are ALL going to have to be replaced. You can't drive a 50 year old car with original belts and hoses. Probably the tires as well.
      Unless, of course, you want to make it a trailer queen.

    • @brockricci
      @brockricci Год назад

      I believe he mentioned those are newer tires... would not have had the gold stripe, and the white wall would have been slightly wider. My guess is the belts and hoses have been replaced at least once at some point during maintenance. 51 years is a long time, buona fortuna, paesan'!

    • @retroguy9494
      @retroguy9494 Год назад

      @@brockricci You're right. He DID say 'newer tires' but HOW new? You can put tires on a car, not drive it hardly at all and over time, even if stored in a garage, the tires will still dry rot, break down or get flat spots. As a collector myself, I have had this experience even when presented with receipts of when the tires were replaced when I bought the car. You are also correct when you say the tires are not 'period correct' with that gold stripe and thinner white wall.
      But don't guess on anything regarding belts and hoses. He said the ball joints, shocks and muffler were replaced. On a 26K original mile car, you never know what has been replaced. Case in point. When I bought by 1984 Coupe Deville about 13 years ago, it had 24K original miles. It only had one owner and it was garaged. However, she was in an assisted living for the last 15 years or so of her life and the car just sat. You have no idea what I had to replace on that car. You name it and it needed it. Belts, hoses, tires, bulbs, wipers, air conditioning work, brakes, rotors, alternator, etc. Even the oil pan gasket is leaking but I never replaced it because its a very small drip and it would necessitate dropping the whole oil pan. I've spent over $7K on that car. It's not good to just let a car sit and not run it. So when I see a car with this kind of mileage, unless it can be otherwise proven, I assume it's going to need a LOT of replacement parts!

      I disagree. This past summer I purchased a 71 Olds 98 Luxury Sedan with 13,000 original miles AND original belts & hoses. My 20 yo son & I drove it cross-country with no issues. Would i recommend this for someone who doesn’t have a sense of adventure? No. But it can - and has - been done!
