Started my service career at the local Cadillac dealership in 1974. This car represents extremely well the one or two year old Cadillacs we had coming in for service or that were sitting on the front row of the used car lot. Beautiful car Jay, and I have fond memories of the quality and how they drove.
What a gorgeous example of this fine luxury vehicle from the early 70s. I rode in cars like this as a child, only 6 years old. Reminds me of my childhood. Unmatched luxury. You feel safe in something this big and heavy. Wish I could own it.
WOW!!!!! what a beauty!! I just noticed how much nicer the tail fins are compared to the 75-76 models. The interior & overall look seems more understated & better quality than the later models. Quite the gem.
Indeed I think the most well-kept survivor car I've seen come through your company ..... This car no doubt is the epitome of excellence .. As you stated, the most extreme in comfort such as Cadillac and Lincoln offered in this era. I would have no reservations with starting to California and back in this one. As for pricing, where would you find a car to equal this for quality today for this kind if money? Great colors in and out ..... This gentleman couldn't have spec'd it out with better taste. Great find!
Would be a dream if you guys opened a showroom down here in Naples Florida. I'd bet you's sell many cars quicker with the crazy money in this town, not to mention the taxes everyone would save. Love the museum, the cars, and your presentation of them! Got a friend who bought a 67 Caprice 2dr with a 307 off you. BIG guy, I'm sure you remember him. 👍
Greetings from Naples Florida! I bet Krampaslauf in Austria at Christmas was absolutely amazing! I remember showing my daughter video of the parade to my daughter when she was young. She loves Krampus. 👍
Stunning. Looking at the still pictures of the undercarriage, you can tell it is an Illinois car. Here in Arizona, the bottom would be as rust free as the top. Removing fasteners to do maintenance or repairs would be a challenge on this car.
My parents had a 1972 Sedan de Ville, same color. We took a trip from Phoenix to Salem Oregon when the car was new. I was twelve and impressed that my dad drove 120 mpg in Nevada. There was no speed limit back then. He purchased a new Cadillac every five years until 2007. Great cars with the exception of the 1982 with the HT4100 V8. I remember driving his 1972 when I got my license, it would do burnouts for a mile.
Now I am nostalgic for the 1976 Coupe d'elegance I had ... same color in and out, except my vinyl top was tan like the interior. But this car is even bigger!
I love this car, I knew an older gent who lived near me that owned one, always saw him drive it on the weekends, I went for a ride one day it's like riding on cushions. Who wants to go fishing, pun intended.
He didn't mention that the rear footrests will not stay up like they were suppose to. Also the rear armrest looked like it wanted to not stay down. Gorgeous Brougham though.
I've owned four 1972 Fleetwoods and this is a beautiful example. A few things I noticed: The rub strips along both sides of the car are replacements -- not original. (The originals had a rubber inlay the same color as the roof that ended in a point ahead of the taillights. These rub strips seem to be covered with white tape.) The passenger side outside mirror was a dealer install -- the factory version would have a remote joystick to the right of the radio. (And that's the bare-bones, three-speaker monaural AM-FM unit -- not stereo.) It's unusual for a Fleetwood in not having the fiber-optic lamp monitors on the front fenders and rear package shelf. Beginning Jan. 1, 1972 they became optional equipment, in an effort to bring the sticker price down in an era of price controls and high inflation. And lastly, the fabric windlace molding along the rear edge of the driver door opening is extremely frayed -- unusual for a car with such low mileage. Also I wonder if at some point this car had at least a partial respray. It looks like there's paint on the driver side lower rear quarter molding. Also, the front seats are not "power on each side" (8:16). The passenger side seat has the manual adjuster: i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODAwWDEyMDA=/z/tQUAAOSwXGhjv2gh/$_57.JPG
Also, there is no power antenna and no rear defroster as the switches would have been to the right side of the speedometer, where the Cadillac script is. I've never seen a Fleetwood Brougham with so few options! FYI, the interior color is called "maize". My dad had a 1973 Sedan de Ville with that interior color (but in leather).
@@curtcollett2893 You're right -- no Tilt & Telescope. Also the Cruise Control button on the turn signal stalk has been replaced. The original would be steering wheel / dash color (in this car, it looks like Maize). The upholstery fabric is something Cadillac called Minuet Cloth.
@@tomb7382 1970 thru 1972 Cadillacs didn't have a power antenna. They used a dipole antenna embedded in the windshield. It looks like two very thin black wires in a T shape.
All the pimp's and players drove Fleetwood brougham when I was a kid now I own one A 96 Fleetwood brougham 22 inch spokes and vouges crome big daddy grill burgundy with tan interior every body compliments me I love that car!!
Here's an old term that he didn't use in this pitch a lot of people referred to this kind of large ride as a land yacht. It's a bygone era America was obsessed at one time building very very large cars. Those days are long gone.
Those days have not really gone .. those big land yachts were replaced by huge pickup trucks, upgraded to look like a luxury car inside.. America is still obsessed with having big vehicles.
lovely example of a Classic Caddy my first experience with a Cadillac was a used 1981 Coupe Deville my late maternal grandmother drove from 1983 to 1988 though hers was Colonial Yellow over Dark Saddle Brown with the Brown Landau Vinyl top over the backseat
Beautiful example of the Fleetwood. I have two comments, the hood ornament is an add on (typically an Eldorado part), I don’t see the light monitors on the front fenders as well of the rear monitor on the package shelf.
You'd have to point these things out! Now I have to watch the video again and really pay attention to these things you mentioned. I had a 76, and the rear monitor lights were at the top of the rear window frame.
The Fleetwood is a Sedan DeVille with a 3 inch graft between the front and rear doors which shows very clearly for some reason on this 1972 when seen in profile. Maybe it's the light color.
I owned two CADILACS IN THE 70s-------A 1973 Cadillac Coupe Deville---black on black like a Limo----which had a quarter side windows which was power driven --to supplement the two larger side windows----it was similar in size to this 1972 car ---and a 1976 Cadillac Coupe Deville, which was the last full sized car for Deville-----same color as above but with a black interior and cushioned top ----the 73 had a 472 4 barrel engine -----but the 1976 ----the last year model had a 500 horse version. These cars drove like you were on a cloud ---going from O to 60
You'd only be rich if some fool was willing to pay WAY more than they're worth. I currently have a '76 Fleetwood with 38K original miles, an '84 Coupe DeVille with 25K original miles and a '94 Fleetwood Brougham which has around 80K but only because I drive it a lot. If I sold them all for their true value to another collector, I would hardly get rich off them.
This is my favorite year for Cadillac. It did have a recall on them. The master cylinder would lock up on you. Also, this car is missing the turn signal lamps that were on the hood & the lights in the center of the headliner that were red & would blink when you turned on the directional & when you stepped on the brakes.

Yes, I noticed that too. I had a 71 Fleetwood and it had opera lights. I loved them. I noticed it doesn't have the manual remote control for the right hand mirror by the radio. Peace.
Yes I noticed that too. That was actually an option. I don't like them without the opera lights. I have a 1976 Fleetwood and a 1984 Coupe DeVille and they both have the opera lights. I think they are just SO classy.
watch the 1947 film “The Bishop’s Wife” starring Loretta Young, David Niven and Cary Grant. Niven played Bishop Henry “Brougham” Also, is the body side moulding original to this car?
I shouldn't have to say that, but THIS car is not for everyone. It's not destined to live & stay outside in weather or become someone's commuter car, as a savings over a newer Luxury Car. THIS car must be kept & maintained exactly as it was the past 51 years. Otherwise that pristine, like new condition of everything will deteriorate sooner than your next birthday 🎂
I've been a Cadillac buff since these were new. I've been following them and pricing since then too. I even have a few of my own. You're pretty much in the ballpark at 18. People have to realize that if they actually plan to drive this car, because he said it it has all the original hoses, belts, etc. they are ALL going to have to be replaced. You can't drive a 50 year old car with original belts and hoses. Probably the tires as well. Unless, of course, you want to make it a trailer queen.
I believe he mentioned those are newer tires... would not have had the gold stripe, and the white wall would have been slightly wider. My guess is the belts and hoses have been replaced at least once at some point during maintenance. 51 years is a long time, buona fortuna, paesan'!
@@brockricci You're right. He DID say 'newer tires' but HOW new? You can put tires on a car, not drive it hardly at all and over time, even if stored in a garage, the tires will still dry rot, break down or get flat spots. As a collector myself, I have had this experience even when presented with receipts of when the tires were replaced when I bought the car. You are also correct when you say the tires are not 'period correct' with that gold stripe and thinner white wall. But don't guess on anything regarding belts and hoses. He said the ball joints, shocks and muffler were replaced. On a 26K original mile car, you never know what has been replaced. Case in point. When I bought by 1984 Coupe Deville about 13 years ago, it had 24K original miles. It only had one owner and it was garaged. However, she was in an assisted living for the last 15 years or so of her life and the car just sat. You have no idea what I had to replace on that car. You name it and it needed it. Belts, hoses, tires, bulbs, wipers, air conditioning work, brakes, rotors, alternator, etc. Even the oil pan gasket is leaking but I never replaced it because its a very small drip and it would necessitate dropping the whole oil pan. I've spent over $7K on that car. It's not good to just let a car sit and not run it. So when I see a car with this kind of mileage, unless it can be otherwise proven, I assume it's going to need a LOT of replacement parts!
I disagree. This past summer I purchased a 71 Olds 98 Luxury Sedan with 13,000 original miles AND original belts & hoses. My 20 yo son & I drove it cross-country with no issues. Would i recommend this for someone who doesn’t have a sense of adventure? No. But it can - and has - been done!

These cars left the factory with body side molding, but they were a different style. I can only speculate as to why this car’s body side moldings were removed and replaced. The moldings I see on this car look good, but they are not original.

I can only speculate as to why this car’s body side moldings were removed and replaced. The moldings I see on this car look good, but they are not original.
Much prefer the 1962. Cadillacs should have fins.
