      Thank you so much. Please keep me posted! Thank you for the compliments. I had to admit I've been in more pain lately and sleeping has becoming annoying.
      I wish you so much luck on your journey.

    Hi Kim thanks for the update and happy to see you’re in good spirits.
    I had my surgery (multi level ACDF C5-6 C6-7 and C6 corepectomy) in February and I’m recovering very well. I pretty much had to have the surgery because the C6-7 disc slipped behind my C6 vertebrae and my spinal cord and was compressing my spinal cord.. I returned to work in July and haven’t had any major issues. 3 of my fingers are still numb and the doc said this may be my new normal. I had a Neurosurgeon do mine and he was great. I no longer have any nerve pain just neck soreness. Looking up is my enemy other than that my range of motion is pretty good.
    Keep the updates rolling :)

      Yeah. I’ve accepted the numbness as well. Yes. Looking up or too far down def is a wee bit uncomfortable. I’m
      Glad you’re doing ok though.

    Hi Kim! Always glad to see you post a video - was very helpful as I was going through the pre-surgery process. I finally had my C3-C7 ACDF surgery on August 10th and am doing very well. I occasionally get some tightness in my upper back/shoulders but considering the grafts they put in are substantially taller than the severely compressed discs they replaced, it makes sense. Inspired by you and a couple of others who recorded videos of their journey, I started recording videos of my progress, with the first being a few days prior to surgery. You may recall I am local. I consulted with a bunch of surgeons but eventually had my surgery at Jefferson. Best wishes to you and please keep us updated and this community going!

      Yay. So happy you’re feeling good. The tightness gets annoying but manageable

    I told you before Kim, thank you for sharing your journey. I am 11 days post op, doing great. I hate the collar, but I will survive. I've had a good chuckle a couple of times this week, the vacuum needs to be run, but I thought about your experience and let it be!
    Coffee or adult beverage of choice is on me if our paths ever cross.

      Thanks for the updates! I also forget my levels and I’m c4-c7 too! I love swimming but breathing on the sides seems to cause soreness for days later. I’m thinking it’s too much but I do have good extensions on both sides. Glad you are doing well. Let’s both keep it up! Thanks for keeping it real!

      @@nancyross3118 I was just thinking of starting back to swimming but not sure how the breathing part would go esp after w the constant turning ..hmmm

    I’m so in the same boat 🚤 the Doctor’s want the same three level fusion on me, like I almost think I’m better off waiting and just deal with the shoulder / arm pain? I have weakness but I feel like I can function kinda, lol
    Just seems like surgery will end up with similar issues -
    Your awesome for sharing and any advice will be appreciated !! Thanks

    I had my C4-C7 surgery last year in February. An about two months ago I notice I started looking feeling in my right arm and had headaches. I went back in he said my C5-C6 didn’t fuse so I just did the second surgery from the back of my neck this time a month ago I’m feeling much better for now except wearing that neck brace lol

    I had those same levels fused just over a year ago. At my 6 month all was well. At my year check up not so much. The lowest level is slipping 4 mm and the top level has a screw loose. The Dr hoped my insurance would cover the bone growth stimulator for a 2nd time but that's not happening. I have mild/moderate pain and a CT scheduled for Feb.

    My question is how much help did you need right after surgery, I have severe degenerative disc disease in my lumbar and cervical spine and the only support I have is my 15 year old son and that's not a responsibility I want to put on him. I think the recovery from the lumbar fusion is going to be more difficult as I have lost a lot of physical strength over the past few years.

      I am sorry for not getting back to you. I didn't get an alert. I needed help for a week 24/7
      But I should have asked for help past that but Im stubborn and dont want to bother ppl.
      If I were to do it again, I would def hire a nurse if I can afford it. Unless I can get a friend to stay with me
      Not allowed to vacuum or lift anything more than 5lbs for like 2 months ...

    What would you do differently? Protein? Help at home?

    • @KimWright
      @KimWright  10 месяцев назад

      Yes to both. And prob a lot of prep before - stretching. Neck exercises. And a better physical routine. But then also asking for more help. I think talking to people to had the surgery and actually understand the anxiety and weird pains and stuff- that would have helped. I had 2 ppl that had spine surgeries that I could commiserate with and they gave me assurance vs ppl who just never had it and just don’t know ,.. it made the world of a difference. Also applying the skills I teach my clients really helped once I was able to start using them!

    Hi Kim are you still feeling pain your arm or mid shoulder

    • @KimWright
      @KimWright  2 года назад +2

      At times. Not so much my arm - but neck and trap/blade areas It’s odd because sometimes if I’m sitting straight or standing for too long I definitely feel the spine compression in other areas as well.
