I remember him set up under the big Banyan tree on the east end of the old West Palm Municipal Stadium, Spring training home of the Expos. Childhood was awesome...
Still the greatest baseball fight song and organist ever. Heard it live at Parc-Jarry in 1970 (age 13) and at Stade Olympique (1980). My all-time favorite team other than hometown Red Sox.
Fernand thank you for being the Expos organist. Les Expos Sont La is a song that will always be in my head from as far back as Parc Jarry days. Viva les Expos! Randy C.
I had many memories of going to jarry Park with Dad from 1969-73 when we moved to Maine. I returned to VT after college and went to many more games at Olympic Stadium. This tune is forever etched in my brain and that is a good thing. Allons-y les expos!
My brother and sister and I were the English singers of this song when it first came out. (ages 6 to 11 at the time) "Those expos play to win, they know the way to win, here comes a run for Montreal!" We were each paid 15 dollars and were given 1 45 single! Geez, coulda been a contender...
Watching the Expos at the Big O was probably the last place I remember where both major soft drinks were sold under the same roof (or lack there of !!) COKE, PEPSI, 7-UP !!!!
I was looking for a recording of Les Expos Sont La! and I find it the way it was meant to be heard, played by Fernand Lapierre! What wonderful memories this brings: Jarry Park, the smells, the yell of "Creme Glacee!", and "John Boc-a-BELL-a" called to the plate! I would love to hear Happy Wanderer and the other signature music Fernand played at the ballpark. It wouldn't make the loss of the Expos any easier to take, but it would sure bring back some thoughts of happier times. Thanks!
Saturday am; leaving Ottawa...surviving the wild Pie IX exit off Metropolitan...getting to the park EARLY...sitting up in the always moving oval sun patch of the Big O...un smoked meat puis une o'keefe...listening to Fernand Lapierre cook on the keys...now that's when time stood still! Thanks for this collection esp The Expos theme song...one of the greatest baseball songs ever made!! I think you used to do a medley with Tico Tico and Brazil which was fabulous - Bruce
Salut Fernand, I enjoyed you demo show in Montmagny, Qc. Toujours,un plaisir de te revoir, nice to see you again! Rimouski te salut! Hello from Rimouski!GP
Merci Fernand pour ce beau souvenir qui restera toujours dans le coeur de tous les fans des Expos - Thanks Fernand for this wonderful memory that will forever stay in the hearts of all Expos fans!
Michel, I'd love to hear some a suite of Fernand's old Jarry Park songs, i.e. "Happy Wanderer" and the jingle he played when a foul ball would roll back down the screen. :)
Incredible! Incroyable! Good job! The day I need a musician consider yourself on top of my list! lol Une journée peut-être que tu aura la chance de jouer cet chanson une autre foi..
Michel, I'm doing a documentary on the 1994 Expos right now and starting a campaign for it on Kickstarter. Can I use this video for my campaign? contact me via the film's website at theyearthatneverwas.com and we can talk about it :) Great video too, brings back so many memories of my family's trips every Summer to Montreal to watch the Expos :)
When I hear this song, the Expos game is about to start, I have my hygrade hot dog, a coke, and waiting for the peanut guy to come by and toss a bag to me from 30 feet away. Then watch Ken Singleton and Bob Bailey ht home runs. All is well.
Merci.
Do you have any of the theme songs for the Expos' former players, like Tim Raines, and so on?! Whenever I watched Expos games on tv from the Big "O" in the states, I could hear the music in my head!

This is awesome. I went to 32 games in 1979 and loved every minute of it.

THIS is Opening Day music.
Bring back my Expos soon! 👍
Memories Of my two evenings at Parc Jarry, run deep as I remember when Fernand Tickled The Ivories with his selection of Music.
Vive Les Expos!
bat day at Jarry Patk, the Big O, brasserie, I'm crying almost.
Thanks for posting that. Brings back a lot of memories. I used to go to between 6 to 12 Expos games every year from Ottawa.
This is for you, Kid.
RIP Gary Carter

Vive Les Expos de Montreal
I demand this tune at my funeral. And bury me with my 1969 Junior Expos card.
PLAYBALL!
This is a musician I'd actually like to have as a neighbor.

The Expos MUST return one day. It broke my heart to see Dick Cheney throwing out a pitch in DC. And I'm an American.
Was that the same organ used at Olympic Stadium?! It's got a nice beat and tone!!
Incredible! Incroyable! Good job! The day I need a musician consider yourself on top of my list! lol Une journée peut-être que tu aura la chance de jouer cet chanson une autre foi..

The Peanut Man's name was Jean-Guy Black... legend!

Maman te tiendra le bras
Hurlant hip hip hip hourra

Such a shame you guys lost a wonderful baseball team. As a Yankees baseball fan living down here in Miami. It does bring a tear in my eye.
viva Fernand!
the best organist in baseball after Jane Jarvis!

well, i hope so...they built a new stadium. Still they dont average 30 000 per game.
