- When we arrived in Taiwan and did a search on what to see and do - the number one thing was to try as much Taiwanese street food as possible at the night markets here in Kaohsiung.
Night markets we ate at:
- Ruifeng Night Market Kaohsiung
- Liouhe Night Market Kaohsiung
Food we ate
- Giant squid on a stick with yummy spices
- Scallion Pancake
- Milk bubble tea
- Sugar cane bubble tea
- Bubble tea toastie
- Sweet Potato Balls
- Fish ball soup
We also checked out some of the night market carnival games :)

Welcome back to Taiwan everybody!! You have sent through some such amazing things for us to do and eat here in Kaohsiung! The number one thing you recommended was for us to check out the street food scene! What's your favourite dish?
Go to din tai fung! it started in taiwan
Definitely worth visiting! 👆
So I was a exchange student in pingtung Taiwan and it is like the next town over and there is this lemon drink that is like a slushy and it is amazing I would try it. Watching this video made me cry bc I spent a couple nights in the night market and the lotus lake I have been too and I miss it so much
Taiwanese? its Chinese.
ma'ma let me fill you in some history.
Taiwan is a single province of the Republic of China (not to be confused at all with the communist regime or "Peoples Republic of China")
in other words there are 2 Chinese states that both claim to be the real Government of all of China.
how did this happen you might ask and why we no longer call it China like we did up in tell the 1970s?
well ill boil it down to this the Republic of China with help from the western allies wins ww2 only to go in to another civil war with the communists. with massive amounts of support from the ussr and with no amount of help from the Americans due to a all around arrogance from the U.S towards maos Regime thinking that the Republicans would win the civil war easily.
they did not instead by 1948 they were pushed out of mainland China and in to the Island of Taiwan and many other smaller Island territories.
mao would have just finished of the ROC by then but the U.S said that if a attack was launched on the ROC in Taiwan that the U.S will get in the war to save there drying ally.
the Republic of China still had its founder seat at the UN along with the U.S and the USSR and most western nations saw the ROC as the true China.
China became rich during this time and there was talk of even launching a counter attack on the mainland to one day liberate there country.
all was well and good and the PRC was getting weaker and weaker as not even the USSR was on good terms with the PRC after the sino soviet split but then we have Jimmy carter in 1975...
by that time major corporations not caring for free China or the cold war lobed congress and many other western governments to cut diplomatic ties with the ROC over the PRC
the ROC (even though it founded the UN in the first place) was kicked out and replaced with the fake PRC
and trade with the PRC even in democratic nations grew to crazy amounts
but the west still traded with the ROC even if they pretend its part of the PRC
so to avoid international problems when anyone talks about the ROC they call it by its nickname "Taiwan" or "Formosa" and due to propaganda from the PRC it self the drying days of the ussr and people wanting blood money they made it to where most people don't know what Taiwan is
because if people did know what the ROC was then they would then in turn protest the governments if they protest the governments and have ties with the ROC once more then they would not have that communist blood money.
srry for the long story i had no idea how to cramp it down but thank you so much for reading but please the people living there still think of them selves as Chinese not "Taiwanese" so please just say ROC or Chinese Taipai next time thank you :P

Adding it to my wishlist 😎👌🏻
If you want to travel to Asia, Taiwan is a very good choice, and almost every city in Taiwan has several night markets, food is cheap, people are friendly, and it is a very safe and comfortable country.
If you are traveling to Asia for the first time, Taiwan will be a very good choice.

I was in Taipei 2 weeks ago and their streetfood is the best!! 💯 Definitely check out Tonghua night market if you visit Taipei. Not as crowded as Shillin and Raohe but the food is beyond amazing (steam fried buns, crystalized strawberry on a stick and Xin Fu Tang brown sugar bobba were my faves) !
