2015: I can't believe druid can deal 14 damage for 9 mana 2018: that druid just did 48 damage to all my minions and my face and developed 31/33 in stats on turn 5
Turns out cheating out an Aligner with 1 mana or 0 mana is kind of good when you get the battlecry with other cheated out minions. Who would have thought. Anyway, I really like the card myself (even without cheating out). Few times opponent has disrespected my mossy horror and I've won the game because of this.
Love playing 31/33 in stats, doing 14 damage to every enemy, and then because you have a little bit of mana left over afterwards, play malfurion the pestilent
I feel like the version with Loatheb and Medivh is stronger than the one Trump played here. Medivh lets you combo for exactly 30 damage (thanks to the +1 from the weapon), and Loatheb means you can win without OTKing, just by setting up a massive board and making the opponent's spells uncastable.
Doesn't the deck Trump played top off at 42 damage with floop? Just seems to be between the general and the targeted card draw this is something likely enough to happen in a game and that if it became necessary you would more likely than not be able to do it? (Which it wasn't in any of the games played here, since 28 damage to board and face was already plenty.)
nope 42 is not enough when you face a mirror/warrior match-up, also the only solution to loathab is Anduin hero card, which is rarely see in play in wild( no one play priest)
Also, Medivh can provide really good pressure when your combo is already ruined with Weapon + Plague, etc. You can even save Floop for another Medivh (to get the weapon again). Won 9/10 games against Warlocks that RUINED my combo because of this. (Also saving branching paths for buffing your minions works wonders). Literally, every time they were rating my Avianna and yet every time I still won. Insane when this kind of combo deck has that good flexibility.
Nah... since aviana and Kun are 10, you combo off much less consistently, and innervate dilutes your draw and forces you to run 1-2 less OP Druid cards
Thaurissan will definitely be better than Innvervate in this deck. That being said, weaking the consistency of the draw and making them include an additional card that does little against agressive decks certainly weakens the deck a lot.
So, the ridiculously powerful combo from the absolute best class in the game is going to need a bit more luck, as they will not have their combo guaranteed as early as turn 4. Sounds tragic, i bet it'll be the worst deck now, seeing how it still has probably the best chance to draw the full combo out of all classes.
@@Thilladon Require 1 more card to get the combo and slow down the draw is a big nerf, the whole reason why this deck is op is because of its speed. Slowing it down that much would make it an average combo deck.

For all the people that say “just use Innervate/Thaurissan” and this deck would still work, No. Aviana being nerfed to 10 mana means that Juicy Psychmelon can’t get you all the combo pieces in one go and that was the main reason why this deck was so strong at the first place. Not to mention the later nerfs to Wild Growth and Nourish also announced death penalty to this deck. But as a person that started playing since blackrock mountain, the consistency of Star Aligner Druid at its prime definitely make it the strongest deck ever in hearthstone’s history.
3:31 Deal 18 damage to opponent's face, clear opponent's board (by dealing 15 damage to it), put 32/37 worth of minions on your board and become Malfurion the Pestilent all in one turn, ON TURN FIVE! Yep, that sounds like a pretty good turn indeed.

Heavens Stapler Umm... have you noticed that a good amount of the nerfs was always targeting druid? We even got skulking geist in the KotFT expansion to get rid of the jade idol problem (I hardly believe this card was created for other reasons and its flavor text even points at it).
Okay okay, Star Aligner is a ridiculous deck, but let’s be real here. Aviana is powerful and can destroy almost anyone, but Undertaker Hunter had a nearly 100% win rate when playing out Undertaker on curve, and roughly a 70% winrate when playing Undertaker with at least two other deathrattle minions. This is without mentioning the old Unleash The Hounds as well. Aviana is slow enough that a high roll by an Aggro deck or a seriously slow control deck that has ridiculous armor gain can beat it, but Huntertaker pretty much required the opponent to also play Undertaker tit for tat.
Undertaker could also be dealt with through fiery win axe though, so it's not like it was completely uncounterable. Also, there's the question of how to define "strongest deck". While undertaker hunter had a high winrate, it was also during a meta with fewer cards, so the overall power level of decks was lower back then. Undertaker hunter may have been the deck that was furthest above the power curve of the meta it existed in, but in terms of "absolute power" of which decks would actually win against each other, even undertaker hunter wouldn't really be fast enough to consistently win before turn 5, so star aligner druid is still better by that metric.
Snow Storm In that regard, it can be considered stronger, but what needs to be kept in mind is the consistency of the two decks and the reason as such. Aviana currently sees rare if any counters, as did Undertaker. Modernizing Undertaker now would be a scary prospect but it would additionally be significantly less powerful through the wide variety of cards it has yet to adapt to. But I think we have to analyze the best deck based on the meta it inhabited during its heyday. Aviana is in wild, there’s so much variety that it can curb stomp anything not specifically tacted against it. Undertaker existed when very few counters could be conjured up. In the end, both decks are the best in their own right, but when it comes down to it, no deck quite dominated like Undertaker. Based on its era, no counters could be generated. Nowadays, specific decks can be made to directly counter Aviana. Therefore, on an even playing field, Undertaker represents an incredibly powerful deck that could not be countered, in my opinion even more so than Aviana.
well, that was also with a much different card set than it is now, with a LOT less removal than we have now, which made it so hard to beat. the thing with aviana is that even now, even with all the cards we have now, it's still broken as shit
Kiran Amuthan Well that is the point that I brought up; in their respective era, they were broken due to access to or a lack thereof an abundance of cards. The issue is, Aviana didn’t exist back during the time Undertaker did and it would be unfair to compare the two in the modern era.

Melon no longer draws all the combo pieces in 1 card draw (star aligner, archivist, avainna, kun) therefore the combo is less consistent, therefore making the deck overall about the same as other combo decks.
Melon draws enough. Even with single star aligner activation you most likely clear your oponents board and have your board filled with giant minions. The deck is so strong because even if you don't OTK your opponent, you are still in great place after playing "just the core cards"
Melon still draws 3 out of 4 pieces, which is more than you can say about litteraly any other combo deck, and druid can still get the mana to cast the combo faster than litteraly any other combo deck.
The biggest problem is that now, melon does not give you Aviana and Kun. Which means, you will need to draw the other separately. I believe that in the "core cards" of this combo, both Avian and Kun are there.
regardless if ppl tech against it it does not make it the strongest anymore. sooo it fell on it's face when ppl didn't realize the combo potential. WHICH always happens with OTK themed decks.

But you can just use aviana innervate kun? The combo will still be present in wild otherwise you just rely on getting the coin :D
I haven't played in years but that was awesome.
All you get to hear is
“My winged children fil-A hundred kings sha-(random minion)-who knows what secrets w- THE STARS ALIGN- THE STARS ALIGN!!!!”
I was being poached by this deck every day up until the nerf, I’ve never been happier to see a legendary get nerfed
Solitaire has never been more fun!
Will you get dust for the nerf or naw
At least I made it to the end without ever having the Aviana Kun combo.
Outro song name
I like how star aligner druid was going to be a meme deck, but then it became this.
Having played patron warrior alot I still think it's the best of all time if you played well.
One inervate cancels out the debuff right?
whats causing the echo effect?
How did psychmelon get approved in the first place? It took maybe 5 seconds for everyone to think of aviana/kun combo when the card was announced and realized how insane that would be.
I have been wrecked many times by this deck, made wild a really nervewrecking experience :P
Hwo didnt the battlecry trigger twice for the first 2 star aligners 8:00 suspicious?
MsUncleKevin because he was the second 7hp minion on the board, and needs to be the third...
@@afernandez9579 What sense that makes. He played brann, then star aligner which triggered only 1 time (battlecry) 2x and the last 3/4 aligner triggered twice .....
+MsUncleKevin just count, to get his battlecry you need 3 minions with 7 health, he put Kun and the first Star alligner (2, so no battlecry), then the second (battlecry), and floop (there Were already 3 so the battlecry triggered)
@@afernandez9579 Aaa ok I didnt notice that. Thanks
Anyone knows the name of the bgm?
Its amazing, she will be coming back to wild after almost 5 years.....
This deck is ridiculous! Even at high ranks it's brutal. You also didn't use the 2nd mode on some cards, which is gain 30 armor and cast Spreading Plague twice before you combo. It's insane.
