Quite possibly the best Versailles video on RUclips. No needless commentary, just POV real-life. Videos like these are saving me from losing my mind during quarantine, Thank you so much!

Very fresh look at a place of grandeur without the silly copyright free RUclips background music and complaints about the crowds, the heat and the costs. It’s almost like being there. Bravo!

I’ve waited my whole life to go to Versailles since I fell in love with French history as a child….. You must have such patience, I don’t think I could stand that many people blundering about, clearly unsure of what they are looking at and why. It’s a beautiful place with an important history….. I didn’t realise there is a huge car park out the front of it though 😳…… thanks for sharing this

The main tour of the palace is a nightmare most of the time, it's true, but there are quieter times of the year. Away from that circuit, such as Mesdames' apartments, the Trianons or the private guided tours, things are much easier.
The temporary exhibitions they stage are exceptional. Next year's will celebrate 300 years since Louis XV returned to Versailles - definitely one for the diary!

Visited Versailles almost 40 years ago on my first visit to Paris. So glad I went then. There was nothing like the number of visitors then as there are today. We walked straight in and paid for a tour with 30 people in it. Same is true of other tourist sites. One of the disadvantages of cheap air travel

These places are usually too crowded for anyone to feel anything... you are distracted by the thoughts of losing your passport, your children, making sure you don’t touch anyone and keep moving with the queue.
Besides they never show you what you want to see.. the real possessions the bedroom the kitchen... it’s just a museum.

I went in August 2020 after the castle opened again, and despite the crowd limits there was still a lot of people coming from everywhere! Definitely less than in the video, but still enough that sometimes we were all stacked together lol

  • @genekelly8467

King Louis XIV was criticized for the expense of the palace-but consider that its construction and use provided thousands of jobs. Whereas we spend trillions on weapons, ships, tanks, etc.-that are eventually scrapped.

What a waste of time waiting in a queue to see something you'll never be able to enjoy with all of the pushing and shoving and body odour once you're inside. People running all over the god damn place, no order or calm. Also, there's a large crowd of pickpockets to make you feel more comfortable and secure. I'll be in that vineyard in Nuits St. George sampling the most delicious of sparkling wine......the rest of you fight in out in Versailles.
