Your female Indian friend seems like a sweet person, but as a Black American I have to disagree with her about some of our views regarding racism in India. Many darker skinned Indians have spoken out about this. While I don't believe everyone thinks or feels the same way, some people are racist there. Many Indian's talk about the Caste system in India and the whiter you are the higher you are in that system. While the Darker you are the farther down you go in that system. Even in America some Indian immigrants will talk to black Americans as if they are beneath them. Now this is not indicative of all Indians, but some of them do feel this way. When Iam_Marwa went to India with Priya, there were many negative comments coming from Indian people saying that he was beneath her and would never be accepted. She seems like a sweet person that's very open an accepting, but not every Indian person is like her.

99% Indians are like her and you will always find one percent people worth being in mental asylum roaming free in every country and india too has its share
As the older people educating them socially thru tv n social media, it is decreasing day by day, but some older village people are still rigid with backward idea. But no darker women left unmarried or jobless where there is opportunity. Southern part of India, now we usually call Bharat, mostly ppl are darker and they are doing good life.

FYI, Sikhs and Muslims are the friendly, approachable, down to earth ones in the Indian community. Hindus are more reserved and standoffish... That's my impression anyway (as a Kenyan).
I've been to one of those free food places (not in Kenya) when I was a broke student. I'm pretty sure it was owned by Sikhs. Anyway, they ask you to pay whatever you want, even 50 cents... but I'd feel so weird and just end up paying a 'normal' price 😂
