And hard on the people who love them
You are not alone in the struggles. I have had two meltdowns in the last two weeks as well. The tougher our battles the better the rewards. I heard a pastor say once that sometimes God puts His children to bed in the dark, once the test is over you will be better than before. You are an inspiration when I go through it. Thank you for all the love and help you give to everyone. ❤❤❤❤❤
He likes to test us like He did Job. He will take you to the depths of wanting to end your life and then comes the reward because you fought the darkness and survived.

Hello Maurice, Thank you for the interview with Eva LaRue. It was such an interesting interview. Maurice I hope that you feel better. My father suffered from mental illness. He was an alcoholic, and a heavy smoker (Philip Morris cigarettes), he died in his sleep on Father’s Day in 1984; he was 57 years old. Take care Maurice. My prayers are with you.
Wow!!! What an awesome show this week!!! As an ABC soap fan since the late 70's, I loved the interview so much! Maurice, I too have extreme anxiety and depression. I'm not doing well right now either.😢 You are not alone, dealing with this crap!!!! I'm sending all my love and prayers to you. You are an inspiration to me and many others. I know it's an act on TV, but please tell the writers to fix Sonny's medicine, it's really freaking me out!!!! And I'm worried it's affecting you as the actor.

This is the first time I have watched State of Mind with Maurice Benard and I am SO IMPRESSED. I was a fan of General Hospital since it's first episode and watching Maurice as Sonny and I was also a Big CSI fan and followed Eva and her character on that show. I am SO GLAD I watched this show and I will most definitely keep on watching now. I too was sad to hear about John Callahan and his struggles. I knew he had passed and I had always had such a big crush on him when he was on All My Children.
I will keep Maurice and Eva in my prayers as they deal with their health issues. I thank you Maurice and Eva for such a wonderful episode. God Bless you both.

This was one of the best, most intimate and honest conversations I've ever seen. Thank you Eva for telling your real story with such fearlessness. I hope your health issues improve soon. Maurice, I hope things are getting better with the struggles you're having now and that you were able to enjoy Father's Day. I've been a father for 31 years and this past weekend was literally the first Father's Day where I wasn't consumed with self-loathing and was in a good enough place to truly enjoy, appreciate and accept the love and appreciation I was shown by my kids and my wife. And I don't know if I would have begun this journey to better mental health without your activism and advocacy. I really mean that. You have done so much good for so many, please take comfort in that and take care of yourself. Thank you for this episode of State of Mind, and for all you do both here and on GH. My wife and I watch every evening on my dinner break and it provides me with an hour break from the daily grind and on Sundays I love watching these discussions. And I know there are countless others just like me who care about you and appreciate all the work you do. Take care of yourself and if you can, when you're ready, let us know how you're doing. You're in the thoughts of everyone watching these incredible and very important conversations.

Eva LaRue is such a sweet open person. I was so sad to hear how John Callahan was struggling. I always liked him and thought he was such a good actor. And Eva was so open talking about her health issues. I wish her a complete recovery with all she is going through. Im sorry you have been having a hard time with your anxiety Maurice. I had a crush on Edmund and I laughed so hard when he and Maria jumped on a bed and he obviously was excited to be there with her.
It wasn’t always easy to watch her characters, but watching this, she’s really a nice person! Yay!

Great interview Maurice. As someone whose life has been affected by alcoholism, Eva's insights were most appreciated, especially alcoholism and heart attacks. Her honesty about alcoholism being a contributing cause of John's death may have helped save lives. Now that I look at photos of John post 2015 or so, I recognize some of the telltale signs of his diabetes and alcoholism. Good to know they were on great terms post divorce, and worked through the pain, and were there for their daughter
What a lovely person. Spiritually and physically. I so enjoyed this interview. And her thoughts on grief are spot on for me.

The open conversation about anxiety and depression is so valuable to me,My son died as infant and I have struggled for 50+ years. The grief has had impact on my and my surviving son’s lives.

Why is it such a big deal to everyone that her character doesn't want her daughter to be gay?? I think for ONCE the writers actually put something in that makes sense? Not everyone likes the color blue and not everyone wants their child to be with someone of the same sex, there's nothing wrong with that and it doesn't make someone a homophobe?? And it's not indoctrination, it's simply means they're abiding by what the God of the Bible is saying??

Happy Father's Day Maurice. You are a wonderful father and grandfather that your family is so fortunate to have. My severe anxiety and PTSD has come back hard the past week. It feels like a nonstop panic attack I need a break from just to breathe. Today our kids and I grieve and miss my husband, who we lost to bipolar disorder, on Father's Day, which is not helping. Savor every year you get with that beautiful family of yours!

Maurice few yrs back I remember how Paula asked the GH producer to end a manic story line that had you spiraling from the Bi Polar. I wondered if this new storyline with the meds & manic episodes would affect you….do you think it is related?

As a fan of AMC, watched it from it's beginning until it ended, I am such a fan of Eva's. I seen the movie about Annette Funicello as well as CSI Miami. Very glad to see her again this time on GH. Hopefully the writers will get her character and soon together. Their could be some interesting storyline with those two.
