Dr. El-Gamal, considering the wind load or earthquake load, the moment in the column is maximum at the top and bottom. Does it follow that the shear force/stress is minimum at that location and maximum at the mid height?
Dr. El-Gamal, are prestressed columns exist? If yes, when and what's the condition an Engineer to consider to design such column? Thanks in advance to your reply.
@@MrElgamal77 Thanks for the reply. I was just eager to find out if applying the same system in prestressed piles would be effective to balance tension during lifting and bending during installation, to control cracks as well.
Hi there ! Small questions ! 1 Floor building project mix structural and masonry made from AAC 500-600kg/m3 Parietal beam. What is the difference between 30x30 and 25x36 columns sections in this case .Do you think are compatible using same amount of rebar inside ? I want to make as such that the beam size fits the masonry size that s way!
@@MrElgamal77 Hey Dr.Sherif .I want to pour a foundation !and there is a -1,2 m from ground soil .I want to pour it in 3 step in 3 levels according my 0,6 m height wood framework and using it like climbing wood framing ! i know is possible but never done it ! rebar's will be there of course! and top beam rebar's added before last pouring sequence ! what do you think ?i m thinking creating Lego forms on top surface previous pouring to ensure better bounding for earthquake resolve issues. Also cement grounding on contact pics! will be like forming prefabricated in place sow that will stick previous one ! i want to use less wood framework for money issues. Any other info for this will be welcome !thank you !
Cantilever slab is similar to one way slabs. It is fixed from one side only. If you have a uniform load, the moment will be a negative moment of wl2/2. This will require top steel. The rest will be as one way slab.
Doctor plz could you tell me, Does it enough for me to understand theoritical procedures of designing any structural member to be a good engineer???! Or what should i have to do to be so???! Plz answer me cause am suffering from this point for years now and i cannot find a job.

Hello doctor. i just finished my license, i am very interested and would like to do the same professional careers as you. is it possible to know which specialty did you do a master? in phd?I got an internship in a structural design agency. I also have some design gaps, what to do to fill them. thank you

Dr. El-Gamal, are prestressed columns exist? If yes, when and what's the condition an Engineer to consider to design such column? Thanks in advance to your reply.
Why do you need to prestress a column? We use prestressed to reduce the tension and deflection in beams and slabs.

Yes, correct. But a column with 36 is not common and not practical. You may use 25x40 instead.
