Oh nice! Functions like a Snell Knot but takes three times the time to tie and the added half-hitches for added possible breaking points. This will be my new go-to when I want to curse of the top of my lungs after losing a fish of a lifetime.
On a positive note, the video was good and it actually showed in detail, a good how to on the tying. Props on that. Can't take that away. I will personally stick with a snell on that particular application though. Thank you
@@SongwritingJoe no, that dude is 100% correct. The geometry of this knot is absolutely terrible. Every time you cross your line at a sharp bend like that it weakens your knot considerably. Plus six half hitches takes way longer to tie than a snell, which would have far better breaking strength. About the only thing that can be said for the video is I liked the music and that knot is aesthetically pleasing tied on that shank with that pink line. Terrible knot though.

When I see something that is not helpful or makes things more difficult that's about the only time I will State my opinion. Might be great, I just gear towards a Snell Knot in this application.

Maybe if you put a drop of superglue on it near the eye to lock up the tag end it would hold, with braid at least. I have serious doubts it would work with mono, plus all those half hitches look bulky. I'll stick with my tried true Snell, Palomar, Uni-Knot, Clinch, and Improved Clinch Knots.
btw, the last step doesn't secure the knot properly. a little slack on the line can unfasten it. not sure if it's just on my case, btw, im using mono testing it

Boutique knot. I get it, people want to come up with the next great knot. While it's pretty and all, I don't want to waste time tying a knot when are far simpler one will work. I'm not out there to knit, I'm out there to fish.

I don't understand the complaints of this knot taking long, its so easy to apply. This is an easy knot to do and undo. I have used it to raise and lower long skinny objects. Like a long board or shovel. I don't put a finish wrap on it or tighten the hitches to ea other. I keep them spread out. The tension keeps item secure. When tension comes off, item comes untied easily. This is why no one would use this for fishing.
I don’t use cord to tie on my hooks... and I use half hitches to tie the loose stuff around my boat, the music I listen too when I’m depressed.... oh thanks, but
Not sure about this particular knot, but I think the best way to test 'new' knots is to take two swivels and your usual line. Tie the knot that you normally have the most confidence in at one end and the 'new' one at the other. Then test it by putting one swivel in a vice (or similar) with forceps (or pliers) on the swivel at the other end, and see which one gives first under excessive force. Take care not to damage the line or coils of the knot with the vice/tools, of course. Definitely not a good idea to 'experiment' with a new knot on a fish.
It is always interesting to see a new knot being formed even if it is not one that you’d use yourself. The skill and dexterity in the formation of this knot just have to be admired.👍
Some knots are best left in the bedroom, definitely won’t last fishing

It will open very easily and will come out in no time. Ends are loose and must be fixed somehow to make sure it doesn't start unwinding.

I tried that knot a long time ago. It comes apart very easy in water and you will loose fish when they hit, if the hook is still there.
