I actually switched from psychology to sociology for very similar reasons. I graduated last year and I now work in higher education. I still consider my options when it comes to working "directly in the field" such as human services.
I’m thinking of majoring in Sociology with a concentration in criminology with a minor in psychology. I like this program because I get a little bit of everything! My career goal is to build a career in the criminal justice field and Forensic mental health.
Good luck I'm in the process of beginning and finishing my BA in Psych before heading off to an important M.A in counseling. I already have a BA in Sociology and Justice Studies
I'm actually freaking outttt. I picked psychology instead of sociology and the deadline for switching a levels is gone and I'm so bad at science. I only got a 5 in gcses and now i regret picking it. I hope i can still switch to sociology
Well i pick sociology because it can be interesting i wanna know about the society how people interact with each other And about the sociological theory so i say sociology will be the best major ever i decided to study sociology ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I received my AA-T in psychology but I was torn between UCLA/sociology vs. UCI/psychological science (I chose sociology) The truth is most individuals are affected by today’s culture, religion, environments in our communities, economic struggles even homelessness etc. I decided I want to look at things from a broader perspective and watching your video made me feel more comfortable with my decision. I know I will enjoy it as much as I did Psychology. I’m starting next week 😄
I feel like sociology is a sort of phylosophy that actually searches what it question, am I wrong? Like it questions really anything. However, having a knowledge of psyhology when you're doing sociology doesn't it give you a more complete view? I was wondering what major doing because I want to really know why anything happens and I need to know which subject does it, even though I love any type of art and I'm an artist mysel so I wonder if something so scientific would kill this artistic view of world that I have, what do you think?
philosophy is the one that questions everything - existence even haha. Sociology is more finding explanations (aka. theories) through observations / research / data Not at all! I'm definitely artistic (I do UX design now) and Sociology cemented my love for justice and curiosity
Sociology is basically understanding the structures within our society. Our social states, etc etc Psychology is about the individual and how the brain thinks etc
Sociology is great for truly understanding how our world works Psychology is great for understanding people's behavior/thinking Individuals thoughts, personalities etc.
in my opinion it is a mix of both as it deals with empirical evidence and experimentation, but also with social concepts. e.g. stanford prison experiment
@@JoellePhuaLife i had psychology in my 11th and 12th std and i find it very difficult that's why I'm going for sociology do sociology contain mathematical analysis
hey! I wish I could but I don't have experience in this area having not undertaken a that specific combo myself. However, i would advise asking your teacher or asking a professor on university open days
I am right now a scoiolgy major, but im kinda stuck on wether i should have chosen Psychology since I do plan on going to med school in the future. I am already taking a biology course for my prereqs. :( I enjoy both in a sense
Sociology vs Psychology..? 👀 Comment your choice!

There are a lot of branches of psychology that also focuses on why society is the way it is for eg socially psychology, cross cultural psychology.
I want to do medicine at uni, but I'm leaning towards sociology for a-levels, but my friend says I have to do psych for it 😭

Which one is better for the jobs !! Everyone is telling me they're both worthless degree nd I regreted of choosing it..
no degree is a job guarantee ;) it's whether you're willing to pursue the career that you want!
Would you classify psychology as a natural science or social science?
in my opinion it is a mix of both as it deals with empirical evidence and experimentation, but also with social concepts. e.g. stanford prison experiment
