- When I reached Kashmir I had no knowledge of Kupwara or I should say Keran valley, when I started exploring Srinagar I researched on googlu so much that somehow the name of Keran village appeared on the screen and I started reading about it. After knowing the history of the place I couldn't refrain myself from witnessing the hidden gem of Kashmir, although reaching the village was not easy but I heard different versions of how people living in the village were separated from their loved ones during the attacks from militants and how people come by the Keshanganga river ( a natural border between POK and INDIA) everyday to just have a glimpse of their daughter or wife or son

It is interesting to see a vlog of Karen visit from Indian side. Nice vlog the POK and IOK is a debatable topic and I being from Pakistan don't want to go into it. It is the nature and people that interests me. However, must say, in Pakistan going to Karen is very easy. Only 7-8 hours drive from islamabad and road up to Karen is very comfortable for car journey. Good luck sister and thanks a lot for the treat.
Srinagar is still 20+ hours from Delhi by road (due to traffic). Hopefully we'll be having a expressway to quickly reach and promote tourism. It would be awesome to have people connect without hate from both sides.

In those days Road was not all weather . In winters one had to walk up to the Pass from Village Kachhama road head. It was called CHHOTA ISLAMABAD.
Kalmuddin and Gulpeer , two labourers might remember me -- they encouraged me to write a book on Kashmir - which is KASHMIR - A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE . It is available on Amazon .
I had created a guest room and TV centre there . I had also got civil tele line laid from Kupwara to Pharkiyan Pass to allow tele communications with families of soldiers of the Bde . In 2000 , I had kept the road open for Light Vehicles in the Winters too.

I have worked in Kupwara district for 3 years and every people knows me. I have visited all places including restricted places like keran in 2019 by the privilege provided by Govt of India. Life is really tough here but I have enjoyed my 3 years tenure. In each and every village I have friends. So nice people they are.
