Hello. I am an Electrical Controls Engineer who started my career late in life, and at this point I have been doing it for 7 years, and there is so much technology that I feel like its impossible to know everything. I am a 50 year old female, so its not always been easy for me to catch on without doing extra work to understand the things I don't know, which is a lot. On my down time, I watch RUclips videos to give myself more understanding and often another way to do the things I do already know. Your channel and the videos that you share have help me to understand more of things I have struggled with. I find your way of teaching to be very thorough, and I really enjoy being able to pause the videos, rewind them and take notes at my own pace. I just want to say thank you...:)
Thanks for all you do Tim!! You've helped this beginner out a ton. The other day, thanks to your ccw videos, I was able to get my micro820 controlling an automation direct gs10 vfd via modbus rtu. On top of a whole slew of other things I've learned from you. Thankful folks like you are out here giving your up your time to help us grow.
At 1:27:54 you said you didn't know who came up with these names....Redge is Rising Edge and Fedge is Falling Edge and as you would imagine a TON timer is looking for a one (or rising value) and TOF timer is looking for a zero (or falling value).
Try to also get a maintenance internship and you will be able to learn as you go in the field and in the class. Thats what I’m doing and it helps so much.
Goodmorning sir. I am new to this field. I wanted to learn PLC programming, troubleshooting and everything about it. What wouldnyou recommend to me to start on to? And do you do zoom lesson? Thank you.
Great Jod Tim: Can you do a Tutorial on how to test in ladder code when the Implicit messages has been done cycling through all 8 Modules? I have 8 modules connected (MAX) on a micro850LE with a PanelView800. Each module has a RPI or 10ms. I need to test a value in ladder once after all 8 modules has been services by implicit messages. I have a 50ms timer in ladded but I have no way to know wether the I/O messages are done. Marinus
Hello! GREAT CONTENT!!! So, I have a little problem. I'm working with the simulator and the option "add to spy list" isn't available, Is there a way to activate the option? Thanks for you time and knowledge.
@@TimWilborne True . I get a warning that 'Multi-thread access to global variable may need to be surrounded by calls to UID and UIE' whenever I set up an EII. What could I be doing wrong?
Nothing, I get the same warning. As long as you are using the autostart, you can ignore it. I get the feeling that they got lots of calls from people who didn't check the autostart bit and just added as a warning to lower the call volume.
Hey Tim, im watching this video as i go but i have a question that i dont quite understand. So i know you said we cannot have our pc ip address match the control system ip address, but how would we check what the ip address of the control system is without plugging it into the laptop?
It is a tricky situation. As I tell everyone who comes to our class, you have to know your networks...but this device can discover many devices without actually having an IP address assigned but it still isn't full proof. Let me make a video on ways that you can narrow it down. ruclips.net/video/MhRBOJnShO4/видео.html
@TimWilborne Thank you so much for your response! I will check out the video and thank you for all you do. I truly appreciate how you explain things as thorough as possible as I am new to plc so thank you for having these videos accessible to everyone!
Do you have a video on ccw that goes over tag table as far as when to use bool and real int all that stuff im sorta familiar with 500 i dont see any f or n so is that real ?
Excellent question and there is not a 100% right answer. Two things come to mind to consider. Which is more common and do you have the panel space? I always try to use the most common modules available, that way if there is a failure, you are more likely to have a space. But 16 point modules will take up twice the space in your panel. A 3rd thing to consider it neatness. It can be difficult to wire 32 point modules, you definitely should consider some prewired solution to bring them down to terminal blocks.

Yes, a couple of other people commented the same. Here is a follow up :)

Great video, as always. Any chance that you have a RFID module tutorial somewhere? These littles modules have me stumped😅. Thanks again!
Not yet but I am working on getting some hardware
Hello Tim. Thank you all your PLC Training. Would you explain about Armorstart. how can setup PLC? also how can I integration on plc ?
Don't have one of them but I think they are similar to the set up on a Powerflex
@@BassNie No thank you.

If the RPI is set to 10ms then it will make the request every 10ms. They are individual per module.
A faster way to edit your ip settings is to access the globe in the lower right of the start screen.

Interesting. I wonder if it doesn't work with the simulator or the free software.?
@@TimWilborne Right!!! Maybe the free software is the "problem", thanks 😁
I thought it only removed online editing, I'm out of town so can't check
Hello TW. Good work. How should the UID and UIE blocks in Micro850 be used when using Event Input Interrupt?
I typically set the autostart and have the EII run all the time but the UID and UIE blocks would allow you to programmatically enable and disable it.

hi new subscriber here.. . just want to ask what does "no safety signature" mean on Allen bradley PLC
That means someone didn't complete the safety checklist
@@TimWilborne Thanks for the quick reply.. So how to fix that?
What should i do next.?. im using 5069-l320erms3 controller.. Thanks in advance
The answer to that's way too complicated for a RUclips comment. You need to look at one of the safety certifications such as TUV Rhineland.
Great work Tim!!
Thank you

@@TimWilborne Sir tq, there is sufficient space. which modules commonly available 16/32.
Depends on the brand but I would say as a general rule, 16 points are used almost exclusively.
