My dad saved a baby deer on a lake just like this. Mom swimming across to an 8sland with three babies. The one in back started doing circles and the others swam away. My dad picked up the baby and brought it to the awaiting mom. I'm sure many bass fisherman have done this. Good stuff.

Similar thing with a mother duck and a bunch of her babies stuck down in a deep ditch, a few neighbour's and I gathered up all the lil babies and brought them down to the lake and put them in the water. Momma was stressed but smart enough to let us help... Was an amazing feeling to see them happily swim to their mom!

I really appreciate that he knew to bring the baby back. So many people try to "rescue" fawns that have been "abandoned" when this isn't actually the case. Fawns will lay down to hide in the grass, and the mother will ALWAYS be nearby. She stays away from the baby (close enough to know where it is, though) to help the fawn hide from predators.
Exactly. Fawns are always left alone for a certain period for their own good. They shouldn't be taken anywhere or they will bond with the human. Plus its stressful for mama.

For an emergency feeding, goat's milk is usually OK for any mammal. NOT cow's milk. Some hunting shops (yes) carry something sometimes labeled "wildlife milk" or similar.
Do you know hunters do by far most of the grunt and get dirty environmental work in U.S.?

He said in his next video (after the rescue video) he saw the deer the next day in the park with his mother but did NOT record it. No, did he have sight of the deer before she ran off, nope so he probably never saw it again, and I saw this guy's Instagram if that's what you're talking about, the only reason why he was at the lake is because he wanted to fish and kill animals. While she was definitely exhausted, she wasn't moving because she was terrified. Almost all predators react to movement, this is why dogs and bears will chase you if you run, and why your pet cats will play with anything that moves quickly, and anyone with a lizard knows how excited they get when they see movement. By the time a predator is actually on a tiny, helpless deer like that, they're almost certainly screwed anyway, so they'll instinctively curl up and sit as motionless as possible, to prevent any sudden moves that might cause the predator to snap at them. This can buy precious seconds if the mother is nearby, and might even discourage the animal altogether if it isn't hungry enough. When the baby deer thinks it has an opportunity, it will get up and sprint as far away as possible.
This instinct is also why you "lock up" when you're terrified: millions of years of evolutionary instincts telling you not to make any sudden movements.
