I will be playing an Ironman challenge run of Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest on Lunatic Difficulty. This'll be pretty rough. I'll start from chapter 1 and try to proceed to the end of the game.
I won't be using DLC, though I will allow amiibos and other things like it, as long as it's not from the Dragon's Gate menu. I won't be hiring outside units from other players, either.
In Ironman runs, I am not allowed to reset the game, use savepoints, or save states. Each action or occurrence is as a result, permanent. Any characters that die will remain dead for the rest of the run, and if I lose the game, the run is over.
If I fail the run and need to restart, I will begin at the Branch of Fate, meaning I will not need to replay chapters 1-6. This is mostly because the earlier chapters aren't really part of the Conquest route.

I think there being no official name for Fateslandia is my favourite part of Fates' writing.
Spent so much time making sure Corrin non-lethally takes down entire armies and not marrying siblings that they forgot to name the damn continent.

The idea of Hans being a bro and letting Corrin take all the credit for massacring a bunch of innocents to help ingratiate her to her estranged father will never not make me laugh.
Again, I don't think Hans did it for that reason. It's pretty clear they're all plotting to undermine Corrin's peacekeeping attempts, and giving her all the credit because it
1) Aligns her with an awful evil tyrant.
2) Undermines her efforts to parley with Hoshido
3) Makes her seem like a liar

Legit impressive stuff that this was completed with as few dead Corrins as reasonably possible, despite the mass genocide on all sides

Intelligents Systems had an idea for Fate to have three stories to appeal to everyone, but they realized that they didn't have enough writers. So they hired an outside writer, Shin Kibayashi was that writer. Intelligent Systems wanted Shin to write the outline for each pathway, what happened instead is that Shin wrote 500 pages for each pathway. Nintendo knew this was too long so they cut the story into pieces without the writers permission and the fact the Nintendo demanded Fates come on the Fire Emblem Anniversary only made things worse. Which resulted in this hilariously mess of a story. The good news this that there is a manga based on Fates that is a little better. Its called Fire Emblem If: the Crown of Niberlung.

The best part about these highlights is that, because Fates's writing is as absurd as it is, it's hard to tell what's part of the game or what's just Excelblem's brand of humor

21:25: One of the reasons why I love Excelblem's 'unique' style is that it makes a complete mockery of antagonists, either through gameplay or the metanarrative, we're supposed to see as threatening and evil. Just like, no respect at all for what the story was trying to do.

Ah, Conquest. What a game you are. Simultaneously the ironically best writing and unironically best gameplay. But the game has Xander, Arthur and Charlotte, so it’ll always be amazing no matter what.
Great job on completing this run, Excelblem! Beating Conquest on Lunatic Ironman is no small feat, and I applaud your sheer ballsiness to play all three routes back-to-back like you are currently.

Ok, so I know fates story being shit has been talked to death, but this? This right here is the worst bit to me, because it's so interesting. Hans seemingly having a genuine change of heart for protecting corrin after murdering their previous protector could have been such an interesting character choice and interaction... If it wasn't dropped and didn't happen after this chapter.
Like seriously, what the fuck, why is it dropped, what was Hans' original role in the story that made him protect corrin, what the hell was the plan here?
I haven't played conquest so I don't have much context that from what is shown but I believe Hans does this not to give the credit to Corrin and giving him a good image to garon but rather giving him the reputation of a murderer so that hoshidans don't believe him
Hans does it to give Corrin credit as a murderer because their entire plot was to fuck Corrin over since the start. Hans is never not portrayed as a conniving backstabber.
The concept of Hans continuously committing warcrimes and then giving Corrin the credit simply as an act of kindness is so fucking hilarious that I'm sad it's not actually the case

Cupid Bow, that concept was around in Shining Force. One of the Tactical RPG's which came out around the time Fire Emblem 1 came out. Shining Force 1 allowed you to heal enemies allowing for infinite chip experience. While Shining Force 2 did not allow this though you could use an item similar to the Cupid's Bow to heal enemies which had a finite number of uses.
